Dec 26 Quilt Cam!

Oh goodness!

I made the mistake of running to the post office when they re-opened after lunch at 12:30 – stood in a long line, and stood and stood….

I just arrived back home and then realized I didn’t have any Jubilee blocks cut out to sew up --- so I’m back working on the String Geese.  I cut some orange wing triangles and that will be my project for today!

I’m not even sure how many will be able to join me today because many still have family festivities in full swing….

This is the LAST Quilt-Cam of the year!  I leave Saturday for Dallas – then straight on to Arizona from there and won’t be home until the 17th of January – so it will be a while before we are able to do another one.

Do you have a project that is dragging?  Get it out – come sew with me!

You can leave a comment in the comment section below, or leave one in the guest book by clicking the blue guest book button in the left hand side bar, While I can't answer them all ---I do pick randomly and try to answer questions and comments as I sew!

Hi, Bonnie! Stitching along with you here in cloudy Rhode Island! The big storm is headed this way, but we're just expecting high winds and rain. No snow. :( I'm hand stitching the binding onto a queen-sized double wedding ring for my nephew and his wife. They've been married for almost 2 years, and they will finally have their quilt on Friday. My quilting "friends" coerced me into making a scalloped edge, which makes the binding a little complicated.

Your Christmas sounds great, as understated as mine here too! Nice to be able to catch you back here across the pond. Doing a little quilting whilst I listen :).

Making a few mug rugs while waiting for the next clue of your mystery. There is a little snow here in Oklahoma where I am for Christmas, just enough for making a mess on the roads.

Merry Christmas Bonnie, Mary in Canada here. I am working on a quilt with all the nautical fabrics I picked up on our trip to the east coast back in October. I should be working on the fat turkey's but the boats are calling me more today

Bobbi in Alabama saying hello. It's my first time checking in with you on quilt cam. Our weather here yesterday was horrible, Mobile Alabama got hit hard with a tornado...I think remnants are heading to the east coast now, so be safe all of you with that weather coming in. Working on step 2 of Easy street, so glad I could join you.

hi Bonnie - I'm loving your music - gotta love the 70's. I'm not sewing - but sitting here listening to you - which is always good. Early start to my day here in Australia - glad the dogs got me up early today. I particularly like the melon coloured fabric.

Surprised to be here this morning. Decided to stay home and not fight the crowds shopping. Went to see Lincoln last night with DH. He even noticed the Quilt on the bed. An Ohio Star. DH bought me Fat quarters, call me SHOCKED!! Gotta still get Part 5 done. Think a couple of the ones he bought will go it Easy Street.

Suzanne said...

Did you say that the next step for Easy street will be out tomorrow? I have finished step 5 but I have not finished all the rest of the steps and that it what I am working on this week - while I am on vacation. I am enjoying Easy Street -- thanks for the great pattern. And thanks for Quilt Cam -- it is great to sew with a friend.

I finally started working on a garden-themed log cabin quilt that I'd been planning since spring. I decided at the last minute to double the width of each "log" but forgot to recalculate the new lengths. Now, because of my error, I will need to go out and buy more fabric. Will I pack it back up and forget about it for another 8 months? Probably, but I have plenty to work on in the meantime. I got Adventures with Leaders and Enders for Christmas and couldn't be happier!

Unknown said...

Love the sewing box. It is Boxing day here too. almost finished. Back into the closet it goes.. I have started giving my Christmas things to those in my family that wants it. It gets harder every year to put it up, especially when I could be sewing insteat..lol

Is your strings made from "all" re-purposed shirts or clothing in general. Twelve re-purposed shirts does not a string geese make.

Can't stay and play as I am working today and lunch is over. Wanted to wish you safe travels in the new year. Looking forward to Quilt Cam when you return.

I just put together a 10-drawer organizer (the one with rainbow drawers that you see everywhere). I am going to fill it with the strips from the scraps I cut last night in accordance with your system. Hardly made a dent in the supply of scraps, but little by little it will get done. In the end I will probably need several of the organizers to hold all the strips! Now I'm going to play with my new toy - the Pineapple Tool!

Hi from Germany! I'm a fan of this time for Quilt Cam, as it's perfect for me to watch before getting ready for bed!

I'm working on a cross stitch with you - my shoulder means I can't use a rotary cutter, but I do what I can! Trying to work hard and not feel sorry for myself...hubby will be home from his "business trip" (been gone to an an unfriendly area of the world, if you catch my drift) in two or three months...and I'm starting to get so excited as the day comes closer! I haven't seen him since October, when he got two weeks off...

Hi Bonnie--I am also working on the flying geese. I have laid it on the bed to measure the length and for me 26 flying geese long is a good length for the bed I have. Enjoying making them. They are coming out so pretty.

Morning Bonnie! It's 6am in Queensland and the feed isn't great - I can hear you but you aren't moving LOL. I am sewing some tiny shoofly blocks from the sitting turkey leftovers of the last clue. I think I'll make a sewing machine cover with them. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

While listening to you today, I managed to straighten up and dust my sewing room. I haven't done any sewing since this past April, but I'm going to try to get back in the mood and start working on something today. We'll be moving in March, and I'm looking forward to setting up and organizing my new space, and then getting some of these many, many tops on the frame to get them quilted.

Hi Bonnie, Happy Boxing Day from Salem, Oregon
I am working on some "moth in windows", I am current on mystery & I have a question... When you piece the strings and crumb squares into other pieces how do you deal with extra thick spots? Do you take the little extra piece off back if none of the color will show in the finished square?

Eileen said...

Bonnie, While I'm watching you on Quiltcam I'm setting up my new SewAdjustable table! For Christmas, DH got me an adjustable one for my Pfaff and another do-it-yourself model for my Bernina! It was very easy to set up for my machine, and I'm so excited to have these tables. What a nice gift!

It has been so good this month to have you be at home and to have the quilt time with you. I do not have anyone here to sew with very often. It sure is wonderful to have someone. I love your patterns and your sewing machines are awesome. I have 13 sewing machines so have to make choices when I get ready to sew.

So sorry I too missed your QuiltCam today. Actually I was around but my feeble old brain forgot that you were going to be on during the day (US time). have been looking at your Brother "Bobby" sewing machine, then going back and comparing yours to mine. there is a slight difference. The tag on the front of yours say"Syncro-matic". Mine says "Window-matic. Mine has the numbers and then letters that signify the model #. If you put your hand on the knob that raises and lowers the feed dogs, then look forward and to the right, mine says HA3-B5. I called Brother Corp @ 1-877-552-6255.They said that mine is a model 061. They e-mailed a manual to me. Very interesting.I also have a serial # as does yours, mine is N179958
