Yes, I'm working on these bow-ties to completion! I know you are probably as tired of me sewing on them as I am, but I am SO CLOSE now, I can feel it!
Emmy Lou is on hand, making sure I stay on task and do not stray to another project.
I'm doing QuiltCam today at 2pm Eastern in hopes that our European friends can join in. Usually we do this when it is 3am their time, and that is just not a Quilt-Friendly time for ANYONE!
Are you ready? Bring a project, come hang out! I can see myself spending about 2 hours today trying to knock these blocks out.
Some have had problems with the feed, getting audio just fine but no video. If this happens to you, check to make sure that your flash player is up to date. Completely shut down and reboot your computer. Try a different browser. I find that I have the best luck with Google Chrome.
Leave a comment below while watching along -- I'll try to answer your questions and comments if you leave one!
If you are not a registered Blogger user, you can use your google ID, your aol sign in, and several others. If those don't work, leave a comment in my GUESTBOOK by clicking the blue button in the left hand side bar over there. Those will show up in my email too.
Woo-hoo! I'm ready for quilt cam. I have my tea, and a large trash can. Inspired by your cleaning, I'm going to work on clearing my desktop while watching. I just got home from hosting a quilt retreat, so I have to actually clean, instead of quilting. katydidart.net www.katydidart60@yahoo.com
Hi All ... Jan from Nova Scotia just popping in for a minute. We're stacking 5 cord of wood today and then I get to sew ... my priorities are so different to those of my husband.
Hi, Bonnie! I know you use a lot of old machines, so I was wondering if you have any tips for finding owner's manuals for them. I inherited my Grandma's Montgomery Ward machine, and I haven't been able to find a manual. Do you know where I should be looking? Thanks!
Watching from Ripley, NY. I am working on Lucky Star blocks for a quilt my sewing group is making. We like to have several quilts on hand for when we hear of someone who needs a hug and the Lucky Star block is the best! I do have a question... what color thread do you usually use???
when i was growng up, all the quilts we had were tied, then, in the 70's my aunts started hand quilting,,,I have tied, hand, AND machine quilted,,,what do you prefer?
Still marking the squares for Tumbleweed so I can get a straight seam on those! Only a hundred left to go!!! I have reduced the size of the quilt that I want to make and refigured the amount of pieces! I have so many large quilts now that storage is getting to be a problem. Waiting for new baby girl grandbaby to wake up so I can play with her!
So fun to see you in the middle of the day! Thanks for sharing your quilting time with us. You are keeping me motivated. I just posted a quick little pic of my kit of spool parts. All ready to be a bit more productive when I sit at my machine, and eventually get a bonus quilt out of the deal.
from Amsterdam with love! having a neat little bunch of hexies lying around, the only annoying thing is the Holland Casino advertisement breaking in all the time... Irene
Great to finally see you live!!!!! Overhere it is 20.30 h. and I think I can see you clock and it is about 14.30 h...... ;)) Enjoy your sewing; I know I enjoy watching you sew...... LOL!!! Love from the Netherlands, Ria.
Hi Bonnie, Catching up with you on quiltcam from New Zealand. Have just woken up and thought I would check out whether you were online and yes you are! The bow ties - are you going to make more if the colour choices get too thin or will you just use what you have?
Sitting here appliquing the corner blocks for my papercuts quilt. They have been sitting needing to be done and after reading your blog I decided it was time to get going. Only two more corners and then the borders to do. My goal is to have at least one border done before the new mystery. Sue Upstate NY and yeah it's not raining.
Problem with using the "paper bag" technique is the blocks all get wrinkled and are a mess and need to be pressed and that takes time.... I just put the one I don't like aside and it works in later.
Hi from sunny northwest Florida! I am FINALLY sewing again! Working on a Hawaiian shirt quilt and am planning on sewing the binding on my granddaughter's graduation quilt (just a little late) and then hand sewing the binding while watching the FSU game tonight! I'm really enjoying the Quilt Cam!
Hi Bonnie, Loved your comment regarding tied quilts. All my first quilts were tied and occasionally hand quilted. My grown children still love the tied quilts best because they are soft and drape around them and feel more cuddly then the heavily machine quilted quilts. Beth in Minnesota where it is a beautiful crisp fall day.
Hi Ms Hunter (may I please call you Bonnie - I was taught that one had to give permission to use their first name), I love your pink sewing machine. Would you mind telling what size the hexies were for your hexagon medallion quilt that you used. I would love to emulate that quilt as it's just gorgeous. Lisa (South Africa)
Hi Bonnie! This is your neighbor Colleen in Lewisville, NC. Im hand quilting with pearl cottons a small art quilt. Will bind and sew buttons on to frame while watching you. I am viewing from an iPad to avoid the commercials, but I think I am going to try my laptop to see if it makes a difference. Grace for Long Island gmp505@aol.com
took your advice Bonnie and started to sew and managed to finish a little box of pinwheels that were from a mystery of yours a number of years ago. Tobacco road .... I didn't like the colours I had chosen so i have all the 4 patches and now all the pin wheels done... Now I need to think about putting it together. Thank you so much Bonnie
thanks for the heads up yesterday for Saturday-cam, having trouble with the feed though, think its a local issue, grr!! I may give up and go back to moth in the window! xx

Hi Bonnie, So sad - the feed is on and off this afternoon in RI - both on the iPad and the PC. I guess it is a sign to go outside and help DH with the leaves. Always enjoy quilt cam. I too am having trouble with the feed...both on my PC, which I use Google Chrome and my Ipad. Now it says you are off air...I believe it is an issue with UStream. Will keep trying though...
Hi Bonnie! Debbie watching from Jerusalem, Israel. I'm up very early here usually, so I often get to watch when you are on during your evening, too. But, I like seeing the light coming in through your window. :)
Hi Bonnie, this is so FUN!!! Working on some hexies for a tablerunner. I will surely tune in often. FYI - I just got a message from Java that I needed an update. I updated, came back and see that it's better for everyone else too. Who knew that I had such *power* - LOL!!!
Someone in the earlier comments suggested making an all blue block! Why not? Ive been hand quilting in pearl cottons a little art quilt with you. http://www.flickr.com/photos/luckyduckdreams/8106131461/in/photostream
I just love your attitude.. not only are you an inspirational quilter but you also impress me with how you deal with situations that come up on quilt cam.. it's free, so just deal with it. I look forward to this time with you! We had a fire in our condo so I can't sew right now because everything is in storage until the building is repaired but I get my sewing fix by watching you. Thank you! You are my hero!
Hi Bonnie, I hesitate to make a suggestion because your quilts are so beautiful, but have you considered the possibility of a blue bow tie border around multicolor bow tie blocks? Your feed is doing better than it was earlier.
In your String Fling book, in particular Turkey Tracks pattern, when you mention using nuetrals, do you think it is okay to mix whites and beiges or is it best to stick with one or the other. Thanks.
Bonnie, Altho this sounds like a no-brainer, those folks having trouble might want to check and close down any extra windows they have open. I didn't realize that there were 2 extra window open and had major trouble today until I tried to shut down, and got a notice that I would be closing 4 windows... shut those that the hubby had left up behind my quiltville window, and everything is working just fine.Who knew hubby had three windows up when I asked him to pull up quiltville for me?! (Who needs three windows at a time anyway!)
Hi Bonnie, I just got Spring Fling with my birthday discount at my LQS. There is a purple Talking Turkey in my future along with the new mystery and the Ireland trip. I am so excited. Thank you for YOU. Denise
Hi Bonnie greetings from Calgary Alberta Canada. My niece wants me to make her a tshirt quilt using her soccer jerseys. They are not cotton, but mostly poly. Any hints?
Whew! got the squares for Tumbleweed all marked!!! Then grabbed my tote that I had loaded with strips for Tulip Fields and sorted out the usable for other things strips out of it and it looks like I HAVE made a dent in my string scraps!! Working on piecing the blocks for the border while putting together the blocks. Sure does take a while to do all the basic construction before being able to assemble a quilt!
Thanks for keeping me company Bonnie! I was able to get three very large piles of paperwork sorted through while watching/listening to you on quilt cam. Your bow ties are gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished quilt.
Hi Bonnie, It's Lisa from South Africa again. You've kept me motivated tonight as I have completed 30 hexies since listening to you. Thank you very much for spending your time with us all over the world.
I'm really enjoying Quiltcam today! I don't have nearly as many bowtie blocks as you, mine will be more of a lapquilt or wallhanging, but I am inspired by you to get them all sewn together!
It's a gorgeous day in Arkansas and I went to my email and found the notice that you are ONLINE - yipee !!! I had to miss my sew time this am due to having to get hay, but that's done and it's time to get my sewing started. I need to send you a picture of an antique quilt, the Pyrotechics block from the Ladies Art Journal, 1902 (?) .. it's done in brown plaids I think you'd LOVE it. Where can I send it ? Now I have to find a quilt appraiser .. next on the list !
Hey there Bonnie! This is Julietta from El Paso, TX! Tuned in last night and you are really inspiring me, to make my first bow tie quilt! I'm meetin up with a friend later on to buy some fabric for that! Are you going to be on Quiltcam again later on tonight? Would love to sew along with you :)
A few weeks ago you mentioned you would like to make a postage stamp quilt. I'm currently sewing one with 1" finished squares. I'm using the webbing technique to keep the pieces straight. I cut individual squares and I'm doing a planned arrangement. I really like how it is coming out but it is taking a long time to see any progress. It will have over 8000 pieces when done. Jolene
Hiya Bonnie--All my bowties use different chunks of Cheddar (can you tell I'm getting hungry here? haha) and really vivid prints. I Love watching you quilt--isn't it funny--gotta love watchin' people work, huh? LOL Thanks so much for turning me onto cheddar fabric--always did love that ol' cheese... Julierose
Hi Bonnie, I´m happy to see you and hear you across a ocean. How do you choose your colour bow tie for the "nine patches". Is it randomly chosen? Will you combine this bow tie block with another one?
What a fun afternoon with quilt cam! I was just worrying about what to do about supper when you mentioned having cereal! You crack me up...LOL! Now I'm thinking I might just do the same thing...wonder what the kids will say!!?!
Hey Bonnie! It's Julie from Alabama again. I hear many comments about the ads. I never have any. I have Google Chrome, and I downloaded Adblock so I wouldn't have the screaming blinking ads on Facebook. I think that is why I do not have the ads. Your other viewers might want to give it a try.
I'm working on a Blue Ridge Beauty that I've been L&E for two years now. FINALLY putting the blocks together. I understand how you web the top, but how do you manage a big top and keep it from tangling while carrying it to the machine?
It is a beautiful day in the Natural state. Took a break from putting a boxy stars quilt together to walk my Golden, Hoover. Now I am watching you and eating my daily oatmeal!
Hi, Bonnie: Just logging in now after visiting a quilt show where several quilts made from your patterns wereon display (all properly credited too!). There were 2 Orca Bays, 1 Carolina Crossroads and several from older books or your free patterns. It was great to see them made up!
Hello from France, first time i connect to quiltcam, you are great! I am in my bed getting sleepy but you make me inspiring for tomorrow! Thousands Thank you for all !
Hi this is Lisa from Maine, this is my first time ever watching, so motivating; I've been doing a table runner ...all I want to is get it done. I recently did a black and white paper pieced quilt I would love to share with you and the Other lady looking for a black & white. Being new I'm not sure where to send it... Took a bit of time for me to get here... I'm so excited!
Hi Bonnie, glad to see you are still on line. Busy day today - kids soccer and rugby matches! Number 1 son got a totally unexpected 'man of the match' award, that makes all the years of standing on the sidelines in the wind and rain worthwhile. No sewing going to be done tonight but going to a friends house tomorrow to quilt ny Marti Michel block of the month medallion quilt on her long arm. I have done three small practice pieces buy I am looking forward to doing the big one. It is 94.5 inches square. It is a wedding present for my niece who is getting married in two weeks time. Keep up the good work. Love watching. From Ann in cork, Ireland xx
It sounds like you don't really count your pieces before you start making the blocks. What do you do with any leftover pieces that don't fit into the quilt top?
Mary C from Washington State again. I spent my morning Antique Mall browsing. Saw a few machines but no Singers this time. YEA for the last Bow ties to get sewn today! I got mine laid out during last night's Quilt cam.
Bonnie, thank you for doing the Quilt Cam at this time. I've haven't been able to watch you before because you are on during our Sabbath here in Israel, a six hour difference right now). I'm really enjoying YOU and I'm an avid follower of your blog. Keep up the GREAT work.
Hi Bonnie, I was watching quilt cam last night and today. Thank you for sharing with us. I learn quite a bit from you. Last night you were talking about something that you put the needle through on your sewing machine and put the pressure foot down and it measures 1/4" so you get an accurate 1/4" when you sew. I can't seem to find one, would you please tell me where I can purchase one? Thanks, Joyce
Hi Bonnie!! I missed your Saturday Quilt Cam because I don't get the Snips and Quips topics until 8:06 pm Central Time each day. I see that your post time was Saturday morning. Do I have to sign up for something different to get your posts individually? I like to have it on while I am sewing and like listening to it. Thanks for any help. Ginny Flock ginnyflock@gmail.com PS I am in the process of making a "modified" Streak of Sunshine - I will send a pix when I am done.

Hey Bonnie! It's Julie from Alabama again. I hear many comments about the ads. I never have any. I have Google Chrome, and I downloaded Adblock so I wouldn't have the screaming blinking ads on Facebook. I think that is why I do not have the ads. Your other viewers might want to give it a try.
Hey Bonnie!
I'm working on a Blue Ridge Beauty that I've been L&E for two years now. FINALLY putting the blocks together. I understand how you web the top, but how do you manage a big top and keep it from tangling while carrying it to the machine?
PS, I also turned my mom onto your webcam today.
Just logged on in Australia, it is a beautiful morning here, and I am about to fire up my machine and stitch along with you
Magnolia Springs an hour north of Beaumont. I will send them via email Saturday Love Love quilt cam. Quilting a baby quilt on my long arm today.
No sewing going to be done tonight but going to a friends house tomorrow to quilt ny Marti
Michel block of the month medallion quilt on her long arm.

Did I hear you say "old stuff from the 90's"-that's considered new stuff. Old is pre-80's!
