QuiltCam! The Halloween Edition!

No tricks!  Just treats!
This little paper pieced kitty showed up in my inbox today -- and I thought it was SO CUTE!  No time for me to make any this year, but I saved the pattern for future reference.  You might want to make a few for cat lovers you know!  Click for the pattern HERE.
Not to be outdone by a paper pieced kitty --- Sadie is all ready for her trick or treating as well!  OKAY, it's my fault.  She isn't happy with the situation at all, but it has gotten so cold so fast all she does is stay on her bed and shiver -- she doesn't even want to go outside.  So mama bought her a hoodie!

Poor girl, she doesn't know what to do with this thing on!

I've finished folding the fabric.  Big reveal in tomorrow's morning blog post.  I've worked hard at this many days in a row and it's finally getting to where I want things to be.  There is more stuff to move around, there always is --but that will come little by little.

Tomorrow I need to load up the van and get everything ready for heading out to a retreat in West Virginia on  Friday morning.

Tonight I need some machine time!  More Moth in the Window blocks tonight -- I'm persevering.

Come join me, bring a project and visit a while!

If  you get sound and no video, try hitting the pause/play button.  Restart your computer.  Be sure your flash player is up to date.  Try a different browser.  I recommend Google Chrome, it's a lighter weight interface and doesn't get so bogged down.

**Note** If it says "OFF AIR" it's because I'm not there.  It's a live feed, not a recording, so there is no play back or re-runs!

Okay here goes the question what is the quilt on the long arm? Maybe you could put up a sign each night. I have ordered what I didn't have for this years mystery. My sister gives me a gift certificate for Christmas and I saved it for the mystery quilt.

Well... hubby is happy... Only 1 trick or treater for us... so that leaves more candy for him. Maybe I should make him dress up and go outside and ring the door bell... lol

I love the mystery quilt colours! One question - are you able to share what is the smallest strip/string I need? I'm trying to avoid "that" bin ;o)

Still wondering if you use poly cotton blends or flannels in your scrappy quilts?
Lots of snow here and it has stopped for awhile now but temps. are terrible for this time of year. Certainly thankful that we don't have the Sandy storm though.
Take care!

For the mystery ... shirtings, browns, reds, blues and what other color would you suggest? Looking for more traditional/Civil War flavor....

Audrey said...

I am going to use dark greens, barn reds, and blues/navy with a cinnamon as my constant color on a light beige background.

Which of your machines is getting an exercise tonight? Don't recall seeing that blue beauty before...

Hi Bonnie
I just finished a scrap quilt with barn red, teal, choc. Brown and gold with a cream background. It is gorgeous.
Got all my fabric for the mystery, I had to by the grey and found it right off, and only 3 metres left on the bold. I am ready Freddy!!
Thanks for all you do

Hey Bonnie, it's Laurie from Ontario, Canada (yes hubby Jim from the cruise). Just checking in.. not sure what I'm working on tonight yet, but since I haven't touched my machine in a couple weeks (been far too busy), I figured I should pay her some attention tonight. I'm sure I can find something on my to-do list to tackle. Love the reno's on your basement.. it's moving along quite quickly. Once it's done you won't want to leave it! *hugs*

Hi from Georgia,Bonnie
I really love color too. For awhile I was on a re, green, blue, purple, and brown kick. (I know I cheated-that's 5 colors). One of my favorite background colors is grey blue-like a stormy sky. I like to put fall leaf colors with it, among other things.

Bonnie... love the colors for the new mystery... just one question... how small of pieces should I pull? is there a minimimum size that will work? 6" charms? 10" squares? I would love to move some of my smaller scraps along.... thanks!

This will be my first mystery with you although I've done a few with my guild. My stash isn't nearly as large as yours so I am wondering if you could suggest the minimum number of fabrics within each color. I'm sure a big variety would be best but would it be OK to use only 5 or 6?

Any special rulers you are going to suggest we use in our cutting?

Love your colors except for the green - what you you suggest to substitute for the green?

Hey Bonnie. Got the easy angle ruler but not the companion ruler, at least I don't think so. Could you show what it looks like please? Thanks so much.

Hi Bonnie,

I signed up for UStream on my phone and now I get emails telling me when you are on quilt cam...so let your listeners know that if they sign up for Ustream they will get an automatic email.

BTW love the colors!! May sub something for the teal as I only have a few pieces of that!!

Thanks!!!

Hi, Bonnie! So happy to see you this evening! Just as I was tuning in on Monday evening, the power went out--and stayed out for 19 hours! The saving grace was that my String Fling book arrived that day and DH went out to retrieve it in the pouring rain and wind. Of course, I had to wait until the next day to read it in the daylight. Looking forward to doing the mystery!

Worked late today, then went by Winston-Salem's Lowes to get paint chips.... I'm thinking lotz 'o folks are joining your mystery.... ALL the Winter Flannel chips were gone! Lol... Actually, i found a fler that has it, but thought it was so funny that all the regular chips were gone!
Tonight I'll be refolding/organizing my stash while i watch, listen & learn!
Oh, yeah a question... Are trying to get the values of our 4 colors to be roughly equivalent? Thanks! B

Anonymous said...

Bonnie,

Mystery question? You keep mentioning 4 fabrics tonight. Is the fourth replacing the grey? I'm going to be using the Lime, Teal, and Purple my favorites. My stitchers pillow that I'm working on is done in those colors.

Can we utilize our 2 or 2 1/2 squares and 2 or 2 1/2 strips that are in our scrap users system? :)

Bonnie, I am excited about doing a mystery quilt with you. I love teals and peach/oranges together so I know they will be in my quilt. I am thinking of purple and I haven't decided if I want the peach/orange to be the constant or pick a gray to be the constant. Joyce in Maryland.

Yay! You're still here! I just got the kids out the door for trick or treating...I'm on door duty this year! So I get to stay home with you! : )
I just gotta tell you, I've been basting my RRCB together FINALLY today! OMG I love this quilt. It's so great to look back at the fabrics I used and I just love it! Can't wait for it to be on my bed!

Hi Bonnie-
I'm thinking that I will be using the deep rustic country clots for my first Mystery quilt, (think Kansas Troubles type colors) with beige and tan prints. I had the chance to take your Smith Mountain Morning class, and really enjoyed it, so I am going to try to let go of my contro/trust issues and try to do a mystery! I HATE not knowing what is going on! Lol!

Cindy, The Purple Quilter said...

All you do is lie still on a table while a machine reads your bone density...nothing to it! :)

Mary Ellen said...

Bone density scan is easy peasy. No pain or body part smashing as with a mammogram and nothing invasive with noxious prep as with a colonoscopy. You just lie on a table and the technician moves a scanning bar over your body from above. You are like a giant piece of paper being scanned into a computer with a moveable scanner. Usually they do your hip and spine area.

Hi Bonnie -- nice to 'see' you tonight.
No kids for trick or treat for me as our house is on a dirt road dead in a rural area. So I sew all I want. Am on my LAST border on this quilt for my daughter -- a 2" all the way around. woo hoo !!
Will have to check around to find the mystery requirements -- this year is my year to sew ME some quilts as all of them have gone to live elsewhere :D

Thank you so much for quiltcam. Question for the mystery quilt--(I apologize if it has already been answered)-- Which color will be the "main" color? The color that sets the tone of the quilt.

Hi Bonnie,
I was just able to sign on now to video cam and am wondering what the quilt is on your long arm? I like that you change them out as it's fun to see them. Looking forward to your mystery. Hoping to get my fabrics together this weekend.

Hi Bonnie, happily watching from Melbourne Australia on a chilly day. I've finished up a mini quilt and now working on a binding. Can't wait for your mystery to start.

Gwen said...

Hi Bonnie. I'm looking forward to participating in your mystery. It will be my first with you. I've been collecting aquas, reds, lime greens and grays for a long time, not knowing just what I was going to do with them, just that I liked them. Now I know! You mentioned having a "Constant" at the beginning of your post and to have at least a yard of it. Then you later mentioned the gray as a constant and to have 2 yards of it. Is there a green constant and a gray one, or only the gray? Also, if I'm using kona white as my background, is it o.k. to keep the grays scrappy?

SUPERQUILTER said...

When cutting for your quilt, do you like to cut it all at once or cut as you go?--Gale
