The lecture this morning in Floyd, VA was lively and well attended!
The concensus is that since we have the afternoon off, my workshop isn't until tomorrow--that we take a road trip about an hour away to Wytheville,VA for lunch and quilt shopping at Batiks Etc!
Lunch is in the 1776 log house!! So fun!!
Check out the old log cabin quilt hanging on the wall!

What fun!!!!!
That looks really neat....will have to try it one of these days! Like others, am anxious to get the "low down" on Batiks Etc!
I have been to Batiks Etc. one time and loved it! I know you ladies had a ball! You'll have to post pictures of what everyone bought!
the quilt looks like one of those from "passing on the comfort", appears to be well used and loved as well.
love the colors telling the story of mothers using what is at hand to have their loved ones sleep under warm covers =^}
this weekend we went out for thrift shopping, came home with 5 shirts, people will smile years away from now to see the happy seventies' colors that will appear in the upcoming mystery - we will have one, don't we?!?!?!
have a fun day off!
love from amsterdam, irene
We stop at Batiks Etc and the Log House whenever we go thru (Illinois to North Carolina trips). Enjoy - they are both worth the trip and the time to stop! ~Jeanne
I think Batks,ETC is my fav. Fabric store ever! I discovered it several yrs. ago on a trip back to NY. The restaurant was fun. But the fabric store...!!! I'm sure u had a fantastic time ans scenery was great. micki
I love rotary cutters, imagine cutting all those log cabin strips by hand!!
I used to live in Bristol, TN. We would travel up to Wytheville to Batiks, Etc, (formerly known as Sew What quilt shop) to take a class or two. Say Hi to Carol, the owner, for me. Memories!
I loved it that you showed the old quilt. At a recent (mainly contemporary) quilt display at our local museum, the quilt we liked best was a faded log cabin quilt, frayed and worn, yet so cozy and inviting.
