Thanks for the portable ironing station! So much better than jumping up all the time to iron pieces. Still working on my hexies which I love! Lots of handwork getting done. Almost time to have a quilt in my lap to quilt. Finally cooling off enough

I have several of the exact same GE Light and Easy Iron. Everytime I see one in a flea market or rummage sale or Wherever I come across one, I buy it! The hottest little iron ever and just the right size for piecing! Nancy from Kansas
Bonnie - I am addicted....... These 3.5" spools are just so dog gone cute!!! I started out thinking - just looks like too much work and I've got so much else that I should be doing.... then thought I'd try just one..... it's like eating potato chips... you can't do just one - was sewing yesterday and again with you this evening - got quite a few done already - hope to post pictures tomorrow

Hi Bonnie! Just got home from guild meeting in Aiken and saw some of the beautiful blocks made in Saturday's class. Little "Charm Square" came tonight too, what a good baby! I'm working on labeling two baby quilts so I can get them sent to the new babies.

Hi Bonnie! I finished my Smith Mountain Morning quilt began in May in Columbus, Ohio. I donated it to Hospice of Cincinnati and they're raffling it off to raise funds. What a neat way for me to repay my "debt" to them for taking such wonderful care of my husband.

Hi Bonnie, love to sew along with you. I only have 150 bow ties sewn and they all have the solid cheddar. I've kitted up about 400 and I just sit a sew whenever I have a few minutes either before or after work. I also have several print cheddar fabrics that I'm going to add to mix it up a bit. I finished my farmer wife quilt a couple of months ago and still have yet to put the last border on and quilt it. I never seem to get as much done as you do.

I wanted to let you know that you have been the answer to a mother's prayer. My DD made a jean quilt years ago and refused to ever make another quilt, ever. A week or so ago she came to me and said that she wanted to make a quilt. It took just about everything I had to not allow my chin to drop.... We came right to your site to look through your free patterns. She decided on your Strip Twist and has been cutting and piecing strips for days now. I'm there to help and guide when needed but if I really expressed how I feel, I'd be dancing around.
Today we went through the old grown out clothes down stairs and she deconstructed shirts while watching a show. She's sorting darks and lights right now. I'm so excited. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
There are other colors in this iron. The old "Harvest Gold" the Almond, and Blue, too. Tell everybody when they see them, pick them up,they won't regret their purchase...usually about $4.00 and under. Most of the time, yard sales have them for the extreme cost of $1.00! Nancy from Kansas
YIKES! Did a quick ebay check for the GE Light 'n Easy iron and the first one listed is "buy it now" for $93.49!!! Okay, shipping is included.... Fortunately there are much cheaper ones, but if I find one at Goodwill or a garage sale, I'm going to grab it for sure!
I am sewing 2 pieces of batting together so I will have a big enough piece for a medium baby quilt I will be HQing... This is a mindless activity so I can enjoy Quiltcam with you.
Do you ever do that? What do you do with your leftover batting? Have you used the iron on strips that glue them together? I am nervous using them...

Hey Bonnie, just found out that your on .Yeah !!!I'm doing my one hour or more with needle & thread while I watch . Just wondering ... What is your portable ironing station that I see you using ?
Right now I'm using a cut & press .It has a mat on one side and a pad on the other .I picked this up for class really but I find if I have a long sewing session & I iron on it too long the mat on the other side warps from the heat . So I'm looking for a new longer use one . Thanks for any in put & the sewing time as well :) Beth from Cape Breton

Hi Bonnie, I'm making the free pattern from your web site. It's the string quilting primer. I'm using 1 inch strips that will finish at 1/2 inch if you can believe it. the blocks will finish at 5 inches. I'll definitely send you pictures when it's all done. I know that with you keeping me company here in my sewing room, I'll have fun working on it.

Yes you could! hand sewing is quiet, and you could use ear buds so the sound didn't wake them!
It's an old GE iron from the 1980s. It's 3/4 size, stays hot, has no auto shut off and I love it! Watch yard sales, rummage sales second hand and thrift shops. I think I paid about $3 for mine.

I have really enjoyed the quilt cam. I especially appreciated your remarks regarding relaxed quilting. I like to try to make things as accurate as possible without being too obsessive. Sometimes I think the quilting world is more focused on how every seam and point comes together than they are on the overall effect of the design.

I finished up my flannel quilt top today. The 10 year old UFO I decided would be my Bali UFO. I also pieced the backing, never done that before. It is ready to put together and quilt.
