Hi Bonnie, It's cold and rainy in northeast Ohio today. All the family is in front of the TV watching the Browns game. Chowder is simmering in the crock pot for dinner. So I am FMQ my brains out on Orca Bay. Dead center on a String block one of the seams didn't catch the 1/4 inch. UGRRH Anyway hand piece a string in as a patch. I can see it like it is 50 feet tall. Family says get over it. Also had to fence out grandson. Daughter say to me " Grandma Sweat Shop! You can t come out till its done"!!!!

Sitting here watching quilt cam and the ball game with hubby. I finished stitching the binding on the lap robe hubby made last night during raincheck time. Hi, Bonnie. I'm with you on the football games! A little bit goes a long way. I am standing at the kitchen counter cutting out triangles for Smith Mountain Morning. Why didn't I think of this sooner? I was using the kitchen table for cutting...you'd think after 4 months of physical therapy for a stiff neck I would have thought of this! My kitchen counter is taller than anything else in the house. It's working great! Now I can't wait to start sewing.

Hi Bonnie, Always enjoy Quilt Cam, instead of telling you what I'm doing thought I would tell you that hubby is rebuilding the motor on a little GE Sew Handy from the 30's about the size of a featherweight It is green I WANT it but it belongs to a customer. He repairs vintage machines.
Bonnie, my hubby bought a treadle for me a couple years ago and seeing you with yours made me want to search mine out. It's a 1901 Singer but I have no clue how to clean it and the parts and with what. Found the bobbin case and it looks like a bullet. Thanks for the quilt cam. Marsha from Indiana

Love watching you run that treadle. I wasn't able to watch the other day when you were paper piecing. I've read comments about what a great tip you gave about using pins to match points (or something like that). Will you please post about that hint. I looked through some of your posted paper piecing patterns to see if I could find it, but so far I haven't. Please help. I hate to miss a great hint. Thank you.
Hi Bonnie, DH is wondering where the microphone is since we can't see it on the feed. The sound is very clear. Thanks for showing your sewing space during quilt cam. I was working on string blocks to swap with friends (we're swapping ANY 3.5" blocks), but my family was watching the old Mission Impossible TV shows on Netflix in there, so I came in to work on cleaning off the table mess from working on applique (also for those 3.5" blocks). They LOVE that I enjoy quiltcam SO much.~

Hi Bonnie...after vacation in a couple weeks, I will have my grandfather's old Singer treadle looked at and hopefully get it back in working order. I will also get my Mom's old Pink Singer serviced...it's the machine I learned to sew on. Thanks for inspiring me to get back to my 'roots' - I yearn to get reacquainted my vintage machines, you've made me fall in love with them again.

I am person who has also lost pictures that were saved on my computer. To keep from having that happen again, I purchased an external hard drive and have all my pictures on it as well as my computer. Those hard drives are very inexpensive now.

I purchased some Indigos from Sandy at COTTON IN THE CABIN years ago... I need to dig them out! She and her husband import them from South Africa. The process is fascinating, like those lovely batiks. Happy Sewing!
Sorry to confuse you Bonnie - my username is a bit silly. I live in a small town called Wantage (near Oxford) in England, so I am known as Wantage Lass. King Alfred the Great was born here in 890 (ish) A.D. so it is a very old town! Downton Abbey itself is Highclere Castle, 13 miles south of here and Downton village is a place called Bampton, only 10 miles north of here - so the places filmed are very local to me. Enjoy the series -I do so enjoy a wedding, and Shirley Maclaine is absolutely fantastic.
Hi Bonnie--thanks for making a tedious job less tedious. I'm trying to clean, sort and pack all non-essential things in my sewing room so that we can put the house on the market. Watching you is much more entertaining than the audio books I usually listen to. I think I want a treadle machine now--only I don't think I'm coordinated enough to operate it.
I didn't think I'd ever admit this, but I seriously think I might have too much fabric....is that possible?
P.S. exactly what is considered non-essential in a sewing room?
Hi Bonnie This is the second quilt-cam that I've been able to watch. I have a question about a FeatherWeight. A local singer service center is moving across the country. They have a FeatherWeight for $350.00. I would really like one but am not sure if that is a good deal. It comes with as many feet would fit it, has the manual, and is in great shape. Is this a good price? I'm in Canada too. Thanks Vicky K

Hey Bonnie this is the first time watching you and listening to you sew. I love that I can hear you sew while I am in the kitchen and working on dinner, knowing there is a quilter out there having fun. You keep it as real as life can be, I love it! no would like to see me sewing and what I wear that is for sure. About the commercials in the quilt cam feed .. I figures a trick to avoid them: i watch quilt cam through my feed reader on my iPad ... i can watch the feed full screen without interruptions

Hello from beautiful sunny, St. Louis! Sewing a six year old UFO with you today. Boy, have my piecing skills improved since then. Watched Muva's videos and learned what that odd looking attachment was - a seam guide for my Featherweight. Also ordered tangerine Prairie cloth and will be making a Cheddar bow tie leader/ender quilt when the fabric arrives!No more wasting thread and time for me.
Bonnie, Love to see the treadle sewing I remember sewing all of my clothes on my great grandmother's treadle when in highschool in the '50's. Sewed my prom dress on the treade; 30 yards of organdy! Had lots of darts in the skirt; couldn't backstitch so I had to hand tie off. Thanks for all that you do!
Hello Bonnie Thanks for inviting us to your home. I am trying to make the small spools but having trouble getting the 1 1/2" sewn on without it changing the size of the main piece. It may be the material but it sure is frustrating at times.

Hey, Bonnie!!! So nice to see you in the middle of the day! I'm lucky enough to live in the States, however, since I'm normally up in the middle of the night, I'm VERY thankful to see some daylight sewing! I am amazed and befuddled at the folks that feel the need to comment on your slight wardrobe "malfunctions"!!!! I would hate to think that you would discontinue quiltcam for a few unrealistic peeps. Keep on doing what you do, and know that there are MANY of us that are happy to have your live company. As for dinner, it's a pot roast in the crock pot with veggies too. Gotta love one dish dinners.
re; seeing underwear: My mom's comment in reply to "your slip is showing" was "at least you know I have one on!" I often sew in my pj's and don't have "one" on! Enjoy your life!
Hi Bonnie, watching you use the treadle machine reminds me of how I learned to sew on my mom's old treadle machine when I was a teenager. She bought it used when she and my dad married. I inherited it and, when I checked the serial number, I learned that it dates back to the 1890's! I hope to pass it down to my granddaughter some day. Happy sewing!

Bonnie, I found a template to go with the Creative Memories 3/4" side punch for anyone who likes cutting the hexie fabric out with a template. I've found Brandy's Hexagon template #313 3/4" to be quite helpful, especially when I want to use scraps. I used Elmer's glue to put sandpaper on the bottom, so it'd not slip.

Hi Bonnie! Why don't you see if you can take that drawer in front out and also the curved vanity panel underneath...I bet it's just a few screws or a bit of glue holding those in place. I am tall too and can see how that would be a bit uncomfortable for you.

Maybe next time I'll tune in and be sewing - if my shoulder eases up (it's hard to rotary cut if your left shoulder is having issues!). Here's to knocking out the 12 baby quilts for 12 babies born from two months ago through March. Ugg.

I like cotton thread for cotton piecing. I'm using a lot of Superior thread -- I have it on cones from my longarm, but if I had my druthers and could purchase all the thread I want, I'd go for aurifil. I want to use up what I have first tho!

Hi, Bonnie. I use Firefox. I turned off AdBlockPlus for your site thinking that might be hiding the search box, but nope, I still don't see it. HOWEVER, I did load Windows Explorer and I can see the search box there. So it is some setting on my part that prevents me from seeing the search box. I'll have to keep checking my various add-ons... Hello Bonnie, I'm new on your blog. I have a featherweight machine, and the standard foot is very narrow, not 1/4" measure. Do you mark your machine to get the 1/4" seam line, or do you just sew with the narrower seam allowance. I'm just starting to use it for quilting, used to use it for clothing a long time ago, when we used 5/8" s.a. Just wondering, and I really enjoy your daily newsletter that I receive. Sitting here watching quilt cam and the ball game with hubby. I finished stitching the binding on the lap robe hubby made last night during raincheck time. Today I'm cutting triangles for a pair of "Friendship Circle" lap robes. Love watching you work the treddle. Nice to see how it's done.

Hi, Bonnie. I'm with you on the football games! A little bit goes a long way. I am standing at the kitchen counter cutting out triangles for Smith Mountain Morning. Why didn't I think of this sooner? I was using the kitchen table for cutting...you'd think after 4 months of physical therapy for a stiff neck I would have thought of this! My kitchen counter is taller than anything else in the house. It's working great! Now I can't wait to start sewing.

I was working on string blocks to swap with friends (we're swapping ANY 3.5" blocks), but my family was watching the old Mission Impossible TV shows on Netflix in there, so I came in to work on cleaning off the table mess from working on applique (also for those 3.5" blocks). I will also get my Mom's old Pink Singer serviced...it's the machine I learned to sew on. I am person who has also lost pictures that were saved on my computer. To keep from having that happen again, I purchased an external hard drive and have all my pictures on it as well as my computer. Those hard drives are very inexpensive now.

Sorry to confuse you Bonnie - my username is a bit silly. I live in a small town called Wantage (near Oxford) in England, so I am known as Wantage Lass. King Alfred the Great was born here in 890 (ish) A.D. so it is a very old town! Downton Abbey itself is Highclere Castle, 13 miles south of here and Downton village is a place called Bampton, only 10 miles north of here - so the places filmed are very local to me. Enjoy the series -I do so enjoy a wedding, and Shirley Maclaine is absolutely fantastic.

Hi Bonnie--thanks for making a tedious job less tedious. I'm trying to clean, sort and pack all non-essential things in my sewing room so that we can put the house on the market. Watching you is much more entertaining than the audio books I usually listen to. I think I want a treadle machine now--only I don't think I'm coordinated enough to operate it.

I have a question about a FeatherWeight.
A local singer service center is moving across the country. They have a FeatherWeight for $350.00. I would really like one but am not sure if that is a good deal. It comes with as many feet would fit it, has the manual, and is in great shape. Is this a good price? I'm in Canada too.

Watched Muva's videos and learned what that odd looking attachment was - a seam guide for my Featherweight. Also ordered tangerine Prairie cloth and will be making a Cheddar bow tie leader/ender quilt when the fabric arrives!No more wasting thread and time for me.
Bonnie, Love to see the treadle sewing I remember sewing all of my clothes on my great grandmother's treadle when in highschool in the '50's. Sewed my prom dress on the treade; 30 yards of organdy! Had lots of darts in the skirt; couldn't backstitch so I had to hand tie off. Thanks for all that you do!

I'm lucky enough to live in the States, however, since I'm normally up in the middle of the night, I'm VERY thankful to see some daylight sewing! I am amazed and befuddled at the folks that feel the need to comment on your slight wardrobe "malfunctions"!!!! I would hate to think that you would discontinue quiltcam for a few unrealistic peeps. Keep on doing what you do, and know that there are MANY of us that are happy to have your live company. As for dinner, it's a pot roast in the crock pot with veggies too. Gotta love one dish dinners.
re; seeing underwear: My mom's comment in reply to "your slip is showing" was "at least you know I have one on!" I often sew in my pj's and don't have "one" on! Enjoy your life!

Hi Bonnie, watching you use the treadle machine reminds me of how I learned to sew on my mom's old treadle machine when I was a teenager. She bought it used when she and my dad married. I inherited it and, when I checked the serial number, I learned that it dates back to the 1890's! I hope to pass it down to my granddaughter some day. Happy sewing!

I found a template to go with the Creative Memories 3/4" side punch for anyone who likes cutting the hexie fabric out with a template. I've found Brandy's Hexagon template #313 3/4" to be quite helpful, especially when I want to use scraps. I used Elmer's glue to put sandpaper on the bottom, so it'd not slip.

Why don't you see if you can take that drawer in front out and also the curved vanity panel underneath...I bet it's just a few screws or a bit of glue holding those in place. I am tall too and can see how that would be a bit uncomfortable for you.

Oops! I'm abroad for almost another year...typo! And you read my first comment (with the typo!) out loud! Oh my! I was trying to decide between "for almost another year" and "for another eight months" and somehow it got mixed up in my head! Oh me.

I like cotton thread for cotton piecing. I'm using a lot of Superior thread -- I have it on cones from my longarm, but if I had my druthers and could purchase all the thread I want, I'd go for aurifil. I want to use up what I have first tho!

LOL!!! I hope she remembers me, I bought a "spool" cabinet made from a treadle machine cover at the Vermont Quilt Festival! I've been buying from them for years, and I always find SOMETHING awesome in their booth that no one else has!

Of COURSE She remembers you!!!~ She is sooooo sweet. I just HAD to call her and let her know that you were sewing with Indigos. I did not KNOW that they were from her, but I suspected as much. You will have to show us your cabinet one day Bonnie. I made one of her dolls from the porcelian head, arms and legs. Then, the clothes, using her fabric line. Sweet, sweet lady.

Hi, Bonnie. I use Firefox. I turned off AdBlockPlus for your site thinking that might be hiding the search box, but nope, I still don't see it. HOWEVER, I did load Windows Explorer and I can see the search box there. So it is some setting on my part that prevents me from seeing the search box. I'll have to keep checking my various add-ons... Thanks.
Hello Bonnie, I'm new on your blog. I have a featherweight machine, and the standard foot is very narrow, not 1/4" measure. Do you mark your machine to get the 1/4" seam line, or do you just sew with the narrower seam allowance. I'm just starting to use it for quilting, used to use it for clothing a long time ago, when we used 5/8" s.a.

I was excited that you said ahead of time when you would do your next live cam. (That time didn't actually work for me) I was wondering if you can do that more often? I know you are crazy busy. I am in China and I seem to always miss when they might be. We are 12 hours different from North Carolina.
