Hello, Sleepy Head!

I knew I was going to have a weird out-of-body-clock experience upon returning home. I thought I’d beat it..but no. I’m writing this at 1:35am because ----

I. CAN’T. SLEEP!

My eyes are wide open. I can’t even fake a yawn.

So what’s a girl to do but spend some time with her sewing machine?

I got out Ugly Betty to work on her a bit. She’s the giftted 301 that had spent the winter ((At least ONE winter)) under a blue tarp in Altoona PA at the flea Market.

She runs. But not really well. I got into her insides, and there is some rusting going on in there. I could use her for parts ---her tension mechanism looks bent and I’m not good at fixing that, her check spring won’t move at all. Back on the shelf she goes until I decide what to do with her. I’ve been thinking she would be the perfect candidate for re-painting, but she needs to be working better than she is at this point. I'll contact the painting guy to see if he can do a bit of fixer-upping along with the repainting. If the tension mechanism is the same as on my broken featherweight, I can combine parts between the two machines. They already use the same bobbin case.

SO --- instead ---

I pulled out Barbie! She hasn’t seen the light of day since I went to Ohio with the wood extension table so that Outnumbered Quilter could use the tables for a pattern, and also make adjustments to this one so that it would fit her better.

She needed to come out and play. I was in a pink mood sewing the rest of the pink and green border units for the Completely Insane quilt..and we spent a lovely evening together. She doesn’t seem to mind that it is now 1:41am as I am typing this!

I’ve got one more zig zag border to add, and then figure out what I’m going to do for outer border. I’m not sure I want a light outer border as the original quilt calls for. I may audition other choices. Maybe --- RED?

And oh, I have to share the funniest funny with you! I got this text from my nephew, Scott:

funny 001

Notice..the Yes Ma'am! Love my Texas family and the Yes Ma'am, Yes Sir! I'll be seeing them over New Years and I can't wait!

I was just tickled with this conversation. He asked for some “better sewing machine” advice. He says he’s never seen her happier than when she is busy sewing. I told him that quilting was cheaper than marriage counseling!

And I have to show you his wife’s first rag quilt. It turned out SO CUTE!

funny 004

That’s my great-niece Kami already in love with the quilt. Isn’t it perfect for a girl just starting junior high school?

And now, as it pushes near 2am – I’m going to go finish putting that last pieced border on – and then maybe, just maybe I’ll be able to get some shut eye. I’m posting this now because I *KNOW* that I’m going to sleep past 7am and there won’t be a morning post where there is usually a morning post! I’m posting ahead –

Tomorrow I’ll write the post about our batiking class in Bali – oh we had the best time playing with wax and dye and paint brushes and design!

Welcome Home Bonnie! I so enjoyed my virtual trip to Bali with you! Glad you made it home safe and sound! As you can see, i too am having a weird body clock experience, but with out the benefit of Jet lag as an explanation! ;)

Hey Bonnie,
You should turn on the cam. There are lots of us that normally sew at this hour and would love to have your company.
Thanks for sharing your bali trip with us. It was a wonderful vicarious experience.

What a nice surprise to see you post tonight! I live on the west coast so it's only 11 p.m. here, and I just got back from sewing with a friend. Hope you can get your sleep schedule back on track quickly. The thing that helped me the most was to try to get back on track as quickly as possible, resisting the urge to nap. good luck!

Love the "conversation" with your nephew. So true!
DH says he loves to drive me to distant quilt shops because he knows it makes me happy.
Nearly Insane is Nearly Finished? How cool is that?!?

I too am a nite owl. Melinda is right -- where's that live cam while you are sewing. ha. Your Bali trip was once in a lifetime experience and I so appreciate your sharing it with us. I would have trouble not buying everything I saw.

Maybe with the long weekend your body clock will get straightened out sooner. Have a great holiday.

Quilters have our own body clocks, and they are set by QUILTS lol. This AM I can not get an idea out of my head. So while I figure the last of that idea, and have a mug of coffee ... what do I get online. BONNIE in the wee hours! Bless your heart, the time adjustment probablywill take awhile.

Our grandson came home from Australia,to Alabama,3 weeks ago. Took him over 2 weeks to SEEM normal -- lolol as in timewise that is. He really did enjoy his trip too.

LOVE that borde!
Smiles, JulieinTN

I've been lying awake for an hour trying to sleep. I give! I'm getting my book out-usually reading helps but not sure it will tonight. I dreamt of Bali in the 3-4 hrs I slept.

I was up quilting a baby quilt at the same time you were working on yours. Just couldn't get it out of my head. Sometimes, just the thought of quilting keeps me awake!

It isn't you and jet lag, it is the blue moon. I haven't slept in 2 days either, and that isn't me. Maybe we will all be able to sleep tonight, I hope so. The middle of the night is when I get the most sewing done, when it is peacefully quiet in the house.

So glad you made it home safely. Hope you slept well when you finally got to bed. After seeing the wonderful time you had in Bali, I'm in for Ireland. Just have to check exam schedule.

I was awake a few hours later than you -- my mind was working on sorting and dealing with problems...too bad we can't turn our minds off like we can turn our machines off! Glad you're home!

You were right to get out of bed when you couldn't sleep and do something distracting and relaxing. It usually takes a few days even when I just go a couple time zones. Yep, late night/early morning web cam could be in order--you'll make some of your fans VERY happy. Thanks for sharing your trip!

Sleep on it !

Bonnie, Not to scare you, but for me jet lag usually takes 5 days to get out of my system. So you have a couple more days to go. I usually wake up very early, and have to go to bed very early too.
