Hehe, had to laugh when you asked if we were sewing or doing something, not just watching you. Yes, I'm mindlessly watching you! And...I have a new Bernina that I am yet to play with! Ok, ok, off to start her up!

Sound is working, wanna come to Florida and help me organize my sewing room, I am soo overwhelmed. My mom and I were both quilters and fabriholics, she passed away in Jan and I am overwhelmed in fabric, tools, books and patterns. I am planning on giving some to our quilting friends, but we never got the sewing room unpacked after the move before she died.

Finally caught up with you while you were sewing. The sound works great! So nice to get to sew with you Bonnie...still on my bucket list to do it in person one day!

This is so cool! First time I checked it out.

The sound is fine for me here in Abq.NM. There's about 160 viewers currently. Guess we're engrossed with your speedy sewing and no one is taking time to comment. Thx for tips.

How fun to have someone to talk to while you're sewing. I'm in the basement like you, and DH is upstairs, so I usually just talk to myself! Sue K

I've got sound, too! Now I know what they were talking about with your chain piecing - WAY COOL - butting them up like that - and I see how you just pick one and sew it on. Please tell us about the jar underneath the spool holder on the wall - ;))

Julie said...

Are all of your fabrics the same quality or weight? If not do you worry about how your quilt will "shape" up? Will it make a difference in the machine quilting? Thanks!

I hope you live cam some time when you're cutting fabric strips. I think that would be cool! (saw the video on slicing up the shirts)

I had the biggest crush on Barry when I was a teenager! Glad to hear I'm not the only Barry Manilow fan! :o)

This is hysterical! it's great to hear your voice too! You should be doing those pink and green NI zigzags!

Deb said...

I know you enjoy reading - have you tried audible books for your I-pod - I love to listen to books while I sew.

Hey Bonnie - sometime will you walk around and show us how you store your quilts, show us your stash, what is in the cabinets and drawers ??? It would be great to have the backstage tour!! Thanks so much for doing this - what great fun it is to get to know you this way! thanks.

How do you crosscut the strips you have sewed together on the accuquilt? I am enjoying watching someone getting some sewing done! Thanks for the insight. Laura from Indiana

Polly said...

My mom made my baby clothes from feed sacks! They held up well - through me and my sister AND some through even my two daughters. Dad claimed I had a new dress every day! Mom loved to sew.

Sandie said...

Gotta tell you Bonnie... I wasn't sure I would like the "quilt cam" but this is great! I don't feel so lonely in my room while I'm sewing... So thanks for keeping me company!

Anonymous said...

Just switched to watch you on my smart phone so I can move back into my sewing room. Love hearing you talk/answer questions, but I would probably forget what I was doing if I tried that. I'm working on making some Yo-Yos - I need to cut more circles.

Heather said...

I think the main reason to see the fabric cutting would be to learn proper folding so we don't get those wonky strip centers. Side view would be fine for that, maybe?!?!?

gail.designs said...

Bonnie, you won't be able to sew in your jammies when you web cam, will you?
Gail in Verona, VA

Carmela said...

Bonnie, loved this web cam thing - I am really enjoying it. BTW loved your thoughts about the "quality" of fabric - you're soooo right, women used what they had on hand to make quilts, and they better for it. BTW, what's the writing on your chair?

Kerry said...

Bonnie, loving watching you all the way from Melbourne Australia. Like my own little class, but with someone I feel I know.

Cousin Jill said...

I am cracking myself...I have a tablet that mounts to my long arm....so you are riding on my long arm as I work on melody's quilt.

Sherri said...

You only seem to have one speed. High! Do you ever slow down?

Hi Bonnie. So good to see you. Could you share Mikie's blog address?

Bonnie, Thank you for sharing. Really neat. I never would have thought this was possible. I moved from Alaska last year back to Arkansas. I miss my quilting buddies so badly. Almost like being at a retreat. Thanks again Melody

Hi Bonnie!
Yesterday I joined in for half an hour to catch up on my backlog of pressing...tonight I'm sewing. Finished 6 friendship quilt blocks (3 for me, 3 for my friend). Thanks for the inspiration to sew on a worknight, even for just a little while. Time for me to bring the laptop back downstairs.

What's your husband doing while you sew? I would have a hard time sewing at night because that's when hubby is home.

Enjoyin your "show". My 16 yr old son asked what you were making, I explained but not very well. He's made one quilt and one quilt top. We even took quilt class together last fall. Thanks for making this possible. Dawn in St. Marys GA.

Andee (commented above) and myself have taken pictures with you via Quiltcam on the laptop! At least now I can say that I have a picture with you! :)
Only a fellow quilter can understand the 'pull' of watching another quilter sew and press into the evening.

What kind of machine is it? I use a Singer Model 237 fashionmate. Its a good workhorse. My second favorite is my vintage Morse. It has a lot of fun cams with many different stitches. Both are circa late 60's.

librarylady said...

I would love to see you quilting on the big machine.

Since my sewing machine isn't in the same room as the computer, I am walking on the treadmill we just purchased. It doesn't seem so bad to tread while I am watching you. Nancy from Kansas

with your camera, could you give us a tour of your studio sometime? Just ironed my binding for the quilt on my frame while watching you sew.

Bonnie, thanks so much for mentioning the Northern Star Quilter's Guild Somers Quilt Show!! We loved having you here with us!! Are your ears ringing? We're still talking about you! LOL!!

Bonnie you just reminded me of my mother she was a flower arranger and "always add yellow its the sunshine" was what I heard millions of times

Woot! I've been practically tapping my foot while waiting for company to leave... Phew, they left before quilt cam shut down for the night. Sew, sew cool to watch you working away.

BTW, one guest did comment on the spider web on my wall, started while I was at your workshop in DE this past spring!

Thank you for all you do for the quilting world.

Peace and Joy.

Was going to sew on my treadle machine today and got out the book to thread it and the lady in the picture had a dress on and clunky high heels. No doubt if I could see all of her she would have been wearing pearls too. I decided I wasn't dressed proper for sewing on the treadle.

The quilt police were one of the reasons I never really finished a quilt from all the block swaps I did in the early 90s. I learned to quilt online but the locals were so militant! I love the modern easy going supportive movement! Its fun to sew along with you! Im in Lewisville making string blocks on my old ikea catalog pages.

what color Aurafil do you use?

Hi Bonnie, I am enjoying you tonight. I have a question about hexes. I have been using bottom line to stich them. It's great because it is so fine and doesn't show, but it is so slippery that it is difficult to work with. Any suggestions? Thanks, Sherry

Bonnie, do you feel like a bunch of people are staring at you? We are! lol This is really cool....like having your own tv show (without all the extra production expenses!) Do you eat and/or drink anything while you are working? I haven't seen you do that.Sally in SC

Watched quilt cam while I was making dinner. My 404A was having a similar problem. I took the bobbin case out and cleaned and still had the problem so took the bobbin case out again and turned it over and there in a crevice was a big pad of lint. Cleaned that out and voila fixed.

I'm sewing and my husband is putting thread stands on the wall while we listen to you. I'm putting together 9-patches to make a Halloween themed quilt. It is my second one, and I'm starting to cut down & toss in scrap blocks and left=overs to make 9 inch squares. Or just strips that fit.
