I’m still flying home as this posts --
My red eye flight left San Francisco last night at 11:15pm West Coast time, and lands in Washington/Dulles at 7:39am. One more flight after that…Dulles to Greensboro gets me into my home airport at 9:15am. I’m going to be one tired puppy!
I occupied my time in San Francisco by wandering through the vintage sewing machine display on loan from the San Francisco Museum!
This was SO COOL to see…..
But I nearly wept when I saw that they had a featherweight under glass right there in the terminal….*sigh*
There isn’t time to write a description on each one – my flight boards in 30 minutes and I want this to post in the morning. So I’m putting this on slide show
And I promise I WILL get to more pics from the Sisters Show as soon as I am able….
But I know one thing….as soon as I am home --- I am going to BED – my OWN BED! And I’ll catch you later!

That is too cool!!! I have several of those (and some of the notions) and it's always a kick to see something I use everyday under glass in a museum. What a great exhibit for an airport to host!
Those are so beautiful. The machines were not only useful, but beautiful. And I really appreciate SF's idea of beautiful displays on the concourses. Tulsa International should take a heads-up on that one & put their concourses to better use.
Totally agree with Sue and Joan! Most air ports, need comfort ideas, would claming factor to a lot of people on edge if they had something to keep there mind open to the world, and not ust Ipod, ipad, and what evers that have head phones in there ears!
Bonnie safe flight, it's 8:00 you are either boards out of Dulles or in the air to Greensboro! Sfae travels and drive safe on 220!
Oh! I'm in love with those Willcox and Gibbs machines! What a beautiful design.....so graceful! Thanks for sharing!
How lucky and good are you when it comes to sharing wonderful machines with us. The day after we had dinner with you in Vermont, Regan, Pat and I went antiquing. We found one of the older machines, very dust covered and not able to turn the wheel in one shop. I took a pass on it. It was similar to the next to last photo in your slide show. I really liked the pink square and other pieces and have sketched them out for future ideas. Suzanne in Maine
So jealous! What airline did you fly? I go to SF every other month but fly Southwest so have missed this >:-( Next trip is August, hope it's still there!

Thanks for getting pictures of them all...now we can look at them even after the exhibit leaves. I never tire of looking at them every time I've flown out of SFO this year. Hope you got some sleep!

What a show! I've never heard of so many of the brands of those machines. And there are some really funky looking designs and some that are streamlined and gorgeous. What fun!

Thanks for posting pics Bonnie. I had heard of this display and I am fairly local to SF. Had sent a note to curator@flysfo.com to find out if you had to have a plane ticket to view the display. Never heard back. Phooey.

the green Elna in front is what I learned to sew on, $353 new in 1953. It was my mom's now I have it. Ramona from Maine
