Mom’s got the Hexie Bug!

When I arrived yesterday, mom had already left to go to the airport to pick up my aunt Joy and cousin Andrew.

We settled in to visit and relax while waiting for the call to go meet them in Crouch for the fireworks and festivities ----

I look over to mom’s chair side table – and what do I spy??

A gazillion pre-basted hexies just waiting to be assembled into the project she is working on !

Like Daughter, Like Mother!

Of course I had to spread it out and see how far she’d gotten on it. She is doing scrappy reds, blacks and neutrals.

She is telling me about a hexagon group on facebook she has become involved in --- the woman is hooked hooked hooked!

**Note to self** I do NOT have time to join a hexie group on facebook!!

And to think that her hexie love started just last August on a trip to Minnesota while we were sitting in the dentist’s office waiting for my Aunt to have her tooth fixed!

Like Daughter --- Like Mother!

Very pretty! She is not the only one bitten, you have gotten me started. We are going on vacation next week and I have my papers and starting marking the fabric so that I will have something to work on while we are sitting around talking. I might even get brave enough to work on them while DH is driving! Have a great visit with your family and a great trip to Sister's.

I was hexed when I saw a picture of yours 1/2 completed. Now working on my first. I may be a grandma by the time it is done (my kids are 10, 8, and 4).

My daughter (10) sat down with me last night and wanted to learn how to sew them. I have her working on flowerettes now. OMG I think she is hexed too. ;-)

Lovely Bonnie. Mum's Hexies are wonderful. Please make sure you let her know that when she is finished, she is welcome to send it to Australia - I will look after it for her:)
Well done Bonnie's Mum.

Love your Mom's hexies. I'm going to steal her idea of the red hexie in the "corner" for my grandmother's flower garden. Have all the flowers done and all have a red center, so the red in the pathway around will look awesome. I'm just at the point of buying red fabric, so perfect timing. Tell your Mom thanks a ton!!

I got the hexie bug . . . again. I made a quilt with 3 inch hexies a few years ago. Loved the process. I think I am ready for a 1 incher! Going to a convention in a few weeks and I need something to keep my hands busy through all the speeches. This will be perfect! I really love, love, love, your hexie quilt.

You and your mother have given me the hexie bug. I have never done any but will try them. I am sure I will be hooked as well. Thank you for all that you share.

I am just getting ready to start a hexie project. (Actually it is a star project, but just a new shape, same technique).

You're going to blame all this on a trip to Minnesota! Come on! Next time, hope you can visit some of us in the Twin cities!

I recently took a newly-started hexie project on a trip to visit my kids and grandkids. My daughter (who has never showed any interest in sewing) decided to help me baste a few hexes for me and has been hooked ever since. She even bought some beautiful fabrics and is well into her own lap quilt. I love it! :)
