iPhone-o-gram! Hello, Fairborn!

I arrived about 1/2 hour ago. Good thing, too--it took me 9 hours to get here, including stops for gas, or to stretch my legs, grab a drink or a bite to eat---

My contact, Merle is on her way to pick me up and take me for a bite of dinner.

In the mean time, I'm unpacking and setting up---here's a tip for you if you want a room with a bit more floor space: Request a room with one bed in the room.

I got a room on the ground floor for ease of hauling in stuff---and one bed with extra floor space to set up a folding table for my featherweight.

The flat screen tv isn't always visible from a desk in a hotel room and often the desk sits too high to be comfortable. I brought my adjustable leg folding table this time because my sew ezi table doesn't have an insert for the featherweight.

It actually gives me more table space too!

We will see if I feel like sewing after I get my belly full---but it will be ready when the itch to stitch strikes!!

Looks like the perfect set up!!! Stitch a while...fall into bed and rest, get up and repeat!

You can request a ground floor even if you aren't "handicapped". Glad you got there in good time and safely!

This looks beautiful. Wish I was there....heck, maybe I can pretend I'm you and just rent a room, hibernate away and sew myself into happiness. Thanks for the idea.

Say hello to Fairborn for me! I lived there for 17 years! Wasn't too much into quilting then, cross stitch was my hobby - and the Daisy Barrel was the best store!

Bonnie, you are so right - a room with one King instead of two Queens has a lot more space - and you can't sleep in two beds!!!! Sometimes it means an extra comfy chair or desk. You are a savvy traveler... enjoy!

I request handicap because of the larger bath room. And willcontinue to do so. If u need handicap room, then u should be reserving one ahead of time.

Ok set up is great but is your featherweight really pink or is it the lighting? Do tell!!

How do you get your thread spool to sit still on your machine? Have you got an extended post or something? I can't use those big spools on my machines as they bounce around and always work their way up the holder... you know what happens then....
Thanks for your updates! I'm really enjoying your trips around the U.S. - it's like "where is Carmen San Diego?"

Just because it's on the ground floor doesn't mean it's a handicap accessible room.

Wow, you are just a go go go go go loving woman, aren't ya?

If you have a handy carpenter husband like I do, you buy a dowel of the right size to fit inside those big spools (take one to the store to measure), and then, after cutting them to the right lengths, have him drill down through. My DH has a drill press, so it makes it really easy. You can get lots out of one dowel so you can gift them to your friends.

OH DAISY BARREL.... how I loved that shop. John had business each year in Dayton. We both flew up, rented 2 cars.. I headed for the Daisy Barrel and spend many hours picking fabric etc. Heard it is now closed. But, wasn't it around for many years? THANKS for that memory Audrey. They seem to buy the fabric I loved.

Love the pink Ikea lamp with your pink featherweight. I bought a pink one and also a black one. Now I know to reserve the black one for my black featherweight when I use it.

I agree, ask for the king bed, you get a chair and ottoman and more floor space and leave the handicap rooms for those who need them.
