Over-heard Locally.....

At my post office (which I have told you I love love love)

Postmaster Cheryl to customer: Do you have any 5's or 10's?

Customer: Why? Do you need me to make a change-run for you? I'm happy to do it if you need me to?

This might not sounds like A LOT to any of you...but in a BIG CITY you just don't find the Postmaster running short on change for one thing. And you definitely don't find the Postmaster handing over 20 dollar bills to someone who is NOT a postal employee to drive down the street and go through the drive up bank and GET CHANGE (and expect them to come back!)

This here, y'all, is one of the reasons I love living where I do! Little glimpses into every day rural life in NC.

I absolutely LOVE this little slice of kindness and trust that you shared with us. I'm so glad places like that still exist.

We hear so much about the bad things people do. Love to hear about the good things!!!

Our post office lost it's roof with the weight of the snow. We had to travel 10 miles to the next nearest post office to pick up the mail for nearly 8 months. We always try to give the exact change for local post offices and stores, too.

I save my quarters to pay for purchases with at the thriftstore. They ALWAYS need change.

Buying them at a grocery store is good, but when I buy extra quilting magazines I like to get them at JoAnn's and use a 40% or 50% coupon. :)

Small town and rural America is where people get back to the basics we were founded on. Gotta love it.....

I, too, live in a small town. Last winter during some ugly snow/ice, a dog showed up in my back yard, cold and hungry. She had a collar, but the phone number was disconnected. I called our phone company and asked if they had a way to track the phone number.

I got a return call in about 5 minutes. "Oh, that's Eddie's dog. He's moved back in with his mom and dad and they live down the road from you. Here's the number..."

I am from the Big City. This nearly made my head (and my heart) explode!
