This is the kind of day I've been longing to have for MONTHS. I am NOT going anywhere...doing anything.....but maybe going out for a walk in a bit.
I am sewing crumb blocks. Maybe they are really more stringy than crumbie, but the size means I can use lots more small pieces. The blocks are 3.5" unfinished.
Do I know how I want to set them? NOPE. How many I want to make? NOPE. I just want to be in my room mindlessly sewing, listening to Lifetime Movie Network while I sew, making a complete huge ole mess, and making a pile of blocks that will become "something, someday."
I've been living with lots of deadlines and lists and itineraries. Today is mine. To do nothing but sew! I'll worry about the other upcoming stuff later. I think I really do need at least one "mental health" day just to play!
Oscar and Chloe are here with me, as you can tell, they are not quite impressed with my progress. :cD

Those blocks are pretty "crumbie", Bonnie. Enjoy your sew day.
I too am working through some scraps. Right now I am making log cabin blocks with the 1 1/2" stuff but then I will move to the smaller crumbs and the crazy quilt blocks I am making from them. The scraps just keep multiplying!
I agree about the scraps multiplying. I just finished cleaning out my sewing room while searching and searching for my Ginger shears. They are amongst the missing. I'm sure when I replace them they will show up. They are extra special as my Mother gave them to me for Christmas. The last present I got from her. I had some triangles I was going to send to you Bonnie, but decided the round file got them. Am slowly working through scraps, etc. cutting into strips and squares. I already have an idea for 3-1/2 inch squares into a four patch paired with some 9-1/2' squares I cut for another project and never used.
Bonnie, I can relate about mindless sewing --- I've been working for 4-5 months on a quilt for my daughter. It has involved as much un-sewing as sewing. Finally the blocks are all done and together --- Hip Hip Horray!!

Now, what are you using for a backing for those little blocks? I've heard of people using phone book pages, and we just got *another* one. We don't use them any more; I just look up numbers online, and I heard that most paper recyclying facilities won't take them.
Your cats are beautiful. My cat Lestat takes time out from being his job as quilt inspector the same way your white cat does. lol
As for the mindless sewing....I find it soothing. The more I sew the crumbs together the more relaxed I feel...it is like all the tensions and worries just flow out of my fingers, through the fabric and away! I have a box of squares a lot like the ones you showed. I don't think it matters that we dont' know what we are going to do with them....sometimes we need to just sew!
I hope you really enjoy your home day. I always appreciate mine. Love the little blocks. Of course you will make them look fabulous in another stunning quilt one day soon.

I have lots of scraps collecting, had to had from oldest daughter, she throws every thing away.
Love how Chloe has taken the high spot on the chair, miss queen. She adjusted very well, I see. Oscar is like my Chester always on the computer chair. I had to get a second chair for me.

Hedgehog Jen came to stay this week and went through my crumbs/scrap bin. My fingers were itching to start mindlessly chain piecing, but I resisted the urge!

RE your pink hammer post. I have a set of screwdrivers for the computer/sewing machine depts. DH has a nasty habit of removing them and not putting them back and then wonders why I shout at him :-)
Oh and my Singer 1425 is back home and humming along like a dream!

I love your little blocks and am glad to see you have some sewing time again. Just wondering, is your Oscar a Ragdoll? I have 2 Raggie boys and he looks very familiar! Chloe is beautiful too. My guys are still teenagers and not allowed in my sewing room!!

I had a cat that looked like Oscar... his name was Catty Cat. I got him when I was 1 and he lived until I was 18. He was white with blue eyes and deaf. It's truly amazing that he lived as long as he did on a dairy farm. My next cat will be an all white cat.
But no more until after the 3 I have now found their way to Rainbow Bridge with Catty Cat and Sonny.
That sounds like the perfect day!!! I wish I could have one of those someday soon. With a 3 Year Old around it won't happen unless someone decides to take him for the day! LOL.

OK, I want to do this too. I have been saving scraps and even cutting the four sizes of strips, just like you taught us in Auburn. However, I really need storage ideas for my scrap stash. Bonnie, what do you use to store your squares, bricks, and strips?
