I have had such a great time with Charlotte visiting! Her hubby dropped her off yesterday about lunch time, and we set up machines right away and started sewing.
I quilted on a customer quilt while she worked on her Orange Crush! When I was finished with the long arm, I was able to sit with a basket of strings and mindlessly piece for the evening.
Today after she left, I toyed with these blocks, which had no purpose really, and decided to use them for the border! I'd used string blocks for a border before on my fabric food chain quilt, and I like how they play on the outside of this orphan quilt.
Again, Chloe knew just when to plant herself in the middle of it! (She is still there as I type this...)
It's been a great weekend and I'm raring and ready to tackle the work week come tomorrow morning :c)

The string blocks are a great border. I like the zigzag effect. You always come up with the most interesting designs. Do you have an EQ10 in your brain? Oh, and by the way, do you actually sleep? You get so much done, I am sure there is no sleep time in your schedule!

I am amazed at those borders! They really tie the whiole quilt together perfectly!!
Also think your kitty is looking better and better, she must be thriving in her new home!
the minute I have a quilt on the floor, my cat is on it too... he is a very very fluffy 'ragdoll' wannabee (he is a birman himalayan with some fur 6" long YIKES).. that cat looks so happy and bless you for adopting it!

I make lots of string blocks and it never occurred to me to use them in a border! They look great that way, and really add to the quilt. Thanks for the idea!
Now you need to train Chloe to catch snakes and she will be even more perfect as a studio cat.
The string blocks make a perfect border. And you have such a pretty quilt tester. Mine is black and she pops up from nowhere any time I lay out blocks or a quilt top. Quality control officer, you know. :)

What a great idea for using up those string blocks. Ever since I found your site I've been putting together "miles & miles" of strings, whenever I get a free moment. Now I have a very nice idea for a border of my own on a beginer ender quilt I'm working on as I do my Orange Crush. Thanks Bonnie.

Wait until Cloe learns to "kitty block surf." When I put blocks out on the floor Brownie runs full out and jumps on one which of course "surfs" across the carpet. She thinks it's fun...grrrrr.

I'm sorry I didn't give you credit for a good idea. I talked my boss at the quilt store into buying a bunch of cheddars. I made myself look good, thanks to you. hahaha! I can't wait to get my hands on some, now that's you've talked me into it.

The String borders really made that quilt. There is no way I could ever lay out a quilt on the floor. I have 3 large dogs & a cat that thinks he's a large dog & thay all have ESP. As in "Hurry Mom has a quilt on the floor for us to lay on or maybe it's a new tug toy. Let's take it outside." When Max was 1 & Sadie a puppy they took the quilt right off the bed & out through the dog door. Good thing it was getting old & had a lot of wear or they would be dead!

The string blocks make an excellent border! And as for teaching Chloe to catch snakes, when we lived in the country in TX, we had 9 outdoor kitties, and the only snakes we saw were the dead ones the cats left as gifts. They even surrounded a big hairy tarantula as it crossed the yard until I got there with a hoe to dispatch it before it reached the house. So Chloe may very well earn her keep, as more than quality control chief or quilt-way model!
