Galaxy-Gram! Hello, Ketchikan!

Here I am in Ketchikan Alaska at the end of a very long and many-hexied travel day!

Mary picked me up at the airport and we took the ferry back across to town to check me into my hotel, grab a bite of dinner, and tuck me into my room.

My brain is too tired to think, my fingers too tired to type a long blog post, I am going to head to bed hoping I don't wake up at 3 a.m. And catch you all up tomorrow!

The guild is already taking very good care of me, there is a goodie basket with healthy munchies and a very familiar little black box complete with a feather weight for hotel room selling. Thank you ladies for being so thoughtful!

Off to Ketchikan!

This is Sadie Jane, giving me THE LOOK as I haul my luggage yet again into the airport.

I’m on my way to Ketchikan!

I am so excited.  We got part of one day to spend there when I was on a cruise last year – and I loved it.

Now I get to see it as the locals see it!

It’s going to be a long long travel day~

Greensboro to Detroit to Seattle, finally winding me up in Ketchikan at 4pm their time…which is 8pm MY time.  Whooooeeee!  I can get to Europe a lot quicker!

But they don’t have totem poles!

Where has today gone?

20140909_164412-1
Where has today gone?

It’s gone to the Post Office – TWICE!

It’s gone to the bank, to lunch, to Office Depot in search of a digital luggage scale ((Hand held, because the one I got in Ireland last year gave up the ghost – and it’s innards!))

It’s gone to repacking the trunk show and trying to get everything I need to go with me on this extremely long trip to TWO PLACES into one small carryon bag, because the trunk show gets to be checked luggage.

It’s gone to getting tickets purchased for teaching in Texas at Stitchin’ Heaven in Mineola and to a Caribbean cruise out of Galveston afterward purchased. This is for Late October/Early November.

It’s gone to getting tickets for my Dad to come visit for Thanksgiving since I was on the computer buying airfare anyway ----

Out from the Attic!

Many moons and many years ago, as a newly married gal, I found this quilt top at a yard sale in Boise, Idaho.

I can’t remember the exact date – but I know I was quilting at the time.  Jason was perhaps two, so that would make it about 1985 or so.

I had saved $20.00 and that little bit of cash was supposed to last me the whole yard sale day!  I was looking for clothes and toys for my toddler, and household goods and sewing items for myself.

In a pile of linens ----there it was.

At the time I thought it was ugly, but great – you know?  I had no real knowledge of how to date fabrics, but I liked it.  In all of it’s hideous-fabric-ness!

Isn’t it funny how our tastes change over the years?

Quilt-Cam 9/8/2014

CindyNC
This is Cindy’s cohort Emmie!

Cindy sent an email this afternoon with this adorable picture of Emmie just WAITING for Quilt-Cam and I knew had to post this photo tonight!  LOL!

Cindy writes:

Hi Bonnie -
I wanted to share a picture of the cozy corner where I will be joining you for Quilt Cam later this evening.  As you can see, my sweet girl, Emmie, is ready for Quilt Cam to start NOW.

Show & Share from Bloomington IL!

Remember the great camera snafu of last week?  Missing photos?

Well, I do have some from the guild presentation with the Hands All Around Quilt Guild in Bloomington, IL from last Thursday night!

And I have a few from our class days.

Since it is a rainy Monday here at home  I thought it would be just as good a day as any to share these with you.

By all means, these are not ALL of them, because many were gone when transfering photos from the camera to the laptop ---

Look at this crowd!  Isn’t this awesome?!  Since Labor Day has passed and school is back in session, most folks are back from their summer holidays visiting grand kids and far away places and life just FEELS like it is getting back to “normal”, know what I mean?

And She’s Home! Quilts from 100 Blocks Drawing Time!

It was a travel day punctuated with rain and travel delays.

It’s bound to happen from time to time –but the weather really socked us in in Atlanta, when there is lightning in the area, no planes make landings, no planes take off ---no ground crew can be out moving luggage from one plane to another – no gate crew can move those ingenious jet bridges ---

And so we sat.

And when we finally got on the plane – we sat some MORE!  And after about 40 minutes the pilot comes on to tell us “Ladies & Gentleman, we are #20 for take off……”

Sewing up ALL the Scraps in Bloomington, IL!

I’ve been declared HARDLY NORMAL by the Hands All Around Quilt Guild of Bloomington/Normal, IL!

What a crack up!

It’s something we’ve suspected  all along, but it’s now, but it’s nice to be OFFICIAL and have the shirt to prove it.

The funnier part is, no one fessed up to leaving this gift bag on my table during my class….so who ever you are, thank you thank you – this day was SEW MUCH FUN!

Ice Cream & the Constitution Trial!

Class was done at 4!  By 5 we had cleaned up and headed out for  a group ice cream social at Carl’s Ice Cream Factory in Bloomington ---

The end of the season is drawing near and because the weather was utterly beautiful today, folks were out in droves enjoying the last creamy goodness of the summer season.

Dreamsicle for Marie, Blackberry for Pat, and Almond Joy with hot fudge for yours truly!

We sat as a group and talked and laughed while we enjoyed our “calcium supplements” and enjoyed the late afternoon cool down after a hustling and bustling few days.
