Unity Quilt Along

When the going gets tough, the tough get sewing!

During the shelter-at-home days of Covid -19, we sewed together from all over the world, making one round a week to complete this quilt in UNITY. This Pictorial Tutorial is more than just a pattern.  It’s a full 8 week 37 page course in PDF format.

You can now find the PDF booklet for Unity under under the Digital Patterns section of the Quiltville Store.

I am relatively new to quilting and am going to give this Unity Quilt a shot. Should I cut down all the fabric into 2 1/2 inch strips first? Or only cut a few at a time?

Thank you for providing this opportunity which will help us all keep our spirits up. Directions were fabulous, I'm ready for week 2 :) Thanks again, stay healthy.

Hi Andrea, I recommend cutting as you go since you may not need 2.5 inch strips for all of the rounds. Hope that helps. Welcome to the beautiful world of quiltmaking!

Bonnie,
In Part 3 Can I make the star blocks as leaders & enders? I noticed you made sets of all the pieces needed for each star block. Does that mean you made each block individually rather than making all the flying geese units first? Do you think it would make any difference which way I make them? Thank you.

Hi, this is my first mystery quilt with you and I am really enjoying it. I'm getting ready to start part 3 and had a question. I would like to use my cutting machine to cut out my base and wing triangles. Would you be able to tell me the height and width of those units please? Thank you, Darra

I had a young dog that used to upchuck in the car. I started taking her a short distance to a place that she liked repeatedly and play and she got the point she was ok, even on long distances.....

Thank you so much, Bonnie. Eagerly awaiting each new part has lessened the frustration and boredom the Covid-19 crap has brought to our lives. Sorry for being so blunt but I'm so tired of it all. Our Unity tops will all be so beautiful. It was so considerate of you to design this and share with us. You are one-in-a-million!

The quilt is beautiful. I am very jealous that you can not only design a quilt. But you pick perfect colors and your quilting is amazing. You are so lucky to be so talented.

Good Morning Bonnie! I just downloaded the Unity tutorials. Unity is on the list for this year. Thank you for all the work and planning you did to make this available to all of us. Especially know that I appreciate that you made this free for so long. On another note, my heart was broken for you when I heard of your animals passing. Really hope you know that we all love you dearly. God bless and keep you...Christy Miller

I wonder how many total pieces in this quilt. I would count, but mine is at the quilters. I can't wait to get it back! Thanks so much for the much needed distraction from the world.
