Quilters! Take your positions!
Ready, Set - SEW!
The TaDa Quilters are in the house and tops close to being finished, or blocks ready to be laid out and set together are reaching a well timed, planned ahead finish line!
There has been some friend project sewing as well - as in...."Let's each make one of these, together!" and I love seeing them both reach border status while on retreat, and am looking forward to seeing them over the porch rail.
First in our line up and ready for borders -
And the second one being laid out on the dining room florr from the same pattern ready for its borders -
This pattern is called Quilty Chicks! So cute!
So that's the chicken part -
And here are the veggies to go with them!
And there's more on the floor!
Eat Your Veggies by Barbara Cain - all paper pieced!
The group also sewed ahead to make these donation string blocks that are being joined into a quilt top - such a quick feel good finish when the blocks are ready to join together before retreat.
I always love a fun string quilt!
Something serene is happening here.
And very paper piece-y happening here!
Someone brought an extra cushion for their back during long hours of machine time - I love the cover they made with denim scraps. Fun!
Another sweet little Christmas top finish.
It's called Christmas Eve -
Our cool temps *MAY* have reached 70 yesterday and everyone was enjoying the porch for lunch.
The past week has been such a lovely break from the heat of summer. I'm not quite ready for fall yet, so I'm sure some late summer heat will be back!
This morning I'm eager to get back over to the inn and see what was sewn up into the wee small hours of the night.
Meanwhile in the QPO -
Another batch of neutral string blocks!
I received a fun scrappy package full of strings from my friend Joy in Alaska - and right away I sorted out all of the blue and neutral ones to add variety to the string blocks I am already making.
Why add them to the string storage when I can sew them all in right now?
And I'm sure my Michigan readers will notice that Michigan Wolverines fabric right away too -
In it goes!
I didn't know what I was missing out on.

I love seeing all the different projects that they’re working on. And, of course, being a U of M grad, I noticed that fabulous fabric right away. GO BLUE! Thanks for all the work you do on the blog.
I can imagine how excited you are to go to Cosco's to pick out your frames and get your glasses made!
Will that be today?
I'll be at my sewing machine today for a little while. Cooking..crocheting spool pin doilies to take to the retreat.
Lots of pretties being made there.
Have a wonderful day ๐น
Blessings ๐๐

Oh My Goodness TaDa Quilters! Your projects are awesome! :-)
Thanks for all the pictures, Bonnie. Love the one of your babies waiting for you to join them for the evening. So sweet.
We've been watching Gunsmoke in the evenings, and I've been embroidering satin stitches over little leaves on a 15+ year old stamped quilt block project. Last night we saw Season 1 Episodes 5 and 6. Matt and Kitty were so young!
Question: Should I put interfacing on the back of my blocks before I use them in a quilt? They're about 15" blocks.
Happy Friday, Jenny
M go Blue!!
Hi Bonnie was in williamsburg at the abby Rockefeller folk museum yesterday. on display was an unfinished hexy quilt from 1865. they had finished blocks, finished individual hexes, paper patterns and cut out fabric hexes ready to sew, and even the sashing fabric! thought of you and how you are making SO MUCH progress on yours..love melanie

I’ve been making a back for my version of Old Town and watching The Great British Sewing Bee. It’s good sewing background haha! They used featherweights in one episode!
