I've been digging into these for just about a week.
I've not even reached 20 blocks made yet.
They are kind of fiddly with the skinny neutral strip side and the not-much-wider colored strip side, but I like how they give the illusion of curves.
Someone asked if I knew what the final quilt was going to look like before I dive into something.
Usually - NO.
I just start making blocks and let things evolve. This way I'm not placing limits as to what something could actually become.
Do you do that too? Just make for the sake of making - and then see what you can do with a pile of blocks as you go through setting options in your mind?
Brainless but soul-centering paper piecing.
I think there are several quilts in yere just waiting to be sewn.
Housekeeper Susan was working her magic on the inn and will continue until mid afternoon today when the February Quiltvillians will arrive and Season Six will begin.
I'm grateful to have the distraction of a houseful of quilters.
Left alone with my thoughts, I am often breaking down into tears these days. And there is a lot of anger. And I'm trying to deal with it.
LOL!
Not my photo - a screenshot I took of a video. So please pardon the typos that were likely due to voice-to-text by the original poster.
This is why I need quilting in my life. And maybe you feel the same?
You can also enter the Gift-Away on THAT POST.
Meanwhile - from either side of glass doors -
The only thing this photo cant convey is the growling and hissing from both sides. You'd think they'd be tired of it by now, but nope.
So this is why we keep them separated. If Lola is downstairs, we can let Ivy in. If Ivy is out, Lola can come upstairs.
I feel like I"m dealing with a couple of fighting teenagers who need to be sent to their rooms.
Quiltville Quote Of The Day -
Quilting is my great escape and my solace.
You, too?

Two cats. White Male is a bully and eats faster than the female tabby; therefore, when he finishs eating he will push the female tabby away from her bowl and will eat the rest of her meal. So, I stand guard between the two cats, making sure that the female tabby gets enough of her meal to be satisfied [before the bully takes over]. Otherwise, [ & lately ] they seperate mostly. The female tabby will hiss at the male if it gets too close to her.
They both are OLD ! 16 this summer. Names are Salt & Pepper.

I am making the same off center log cabin blocks but I am not paper piecing them. I have a photo of one a friend made and I will use her layout. I don't think I can add the photo to my comment here.
I'm intrigued by your blocks. The partial block looks like you put on any size piece. How do you get such even strip pieces? Or, do we have to wait for the pattern to learn this secret? Love watching your quilts evolve. Diane Oakes
I have a friend who says quilting is her therapy. Making a quilt costs as much as a couple hours of therapy, but at the end she has a quilt.
Yep. Quilting is a great place to go when things become too much. Kris from Oregon
I am so sad today, lots of evil on the loose. Yesterday I inadvertently overheard my LQS owner launch into a racist diatribe. So few quilt shops still in business and I can no longer step into this one.
Yes, and a Snow day means more progress on my Old Town Mystery. Gotta ice my kinked neck first. Congrats on the 6th year of Retreats at the Quiltville Inn. That means it's been 6 years since our Retreat in Oregon where you got to ride a horse.
Oh, Bonnie, you continue to amaze me! I plan my quilts pretty carefully. I often don't have a pattern so I scratch out my design and figure the yardage I need on a scrap of paper. Bookkeeping is a chore because it makes little sense to me, but quilt math seems to flow effortlessly. That curved log cabin looks very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Congratulations on six years of your dream come true! Chris in Texas
I'm grateful that you share even the hard parts. Anger and tears are bookends to the hard parts of life. However, we are free to roam the bookshelves for the more appealing parts of life, which you have so much! From my seat, I see you sharing your life and supporting others in that journey as well. I see you traveling the world and then putting it out there for others (like me) that aren't in that position right now but still want so much to catch a glimpse of what you see. I see you giving freely in a world where selfish is too normal. Bringing joy to others requires that you deplete some of your own. I pray that your cup is filled today and that you can have feel the love, too. #gratefulforyou ~PSP
I laughed out loud at your photo & caption. That’s my kinda therapy. Stay warm. Fran in Pa.
I'm sorry you're mad, Bonnie. I'm mad, too. And sad and horrified. I'm just so upset by the suffering being caused. You're not alone. Quilting helps. Friends help. Bless you. You're kind and compassionate.
Good for you. Sorry for your loss.
I'm undergoing six months of chemo and almost lost my sewing/quilting mo-Jo--but not quite. Having Quiltville Open Studio keeps me encouraged and sewing "mindlessly" is quite therapeutic.
I hear you! What is it about fabric and thoughts of sewing it that makes us for calm and happy. I also have growling and hissing in my house. I have a family of cats that I raised since birth. A very close friend passed away recently and her family couldn't take her cat who was raised as an only cat in an apartment. She's very cheeky and has all my cats scared. Someone said having multiple cats is like having preK day care in your home. Thank you, Bonnie for the amusing video.
Remember a few days ago Bonnie, when you talked about Rage Quilting? I’ve been doing hours and hours of rage quilting and not sure if my body can keep up the pace needed for the future! My mother used to tell me that I sewed with a red hot needle and scorched thread
Hang in there. I’m a Canadian and we are definitely feeling your pain! We know there are good people everywhere. Just have to stand together!
Loved the screen shot photo. I couldn't stop giggling. Too bad I don't have a husband to say "Can you pay for my therapy". LOL. Love your long cabin blocks!
Bonnie
I appreciate your creativity and enjoy reading your blog frequently during the week.
Thank you for the Mystery quilts you provide each year which have helped to improve my piece work. I enjoy being with other quilters who share the passion of quilting because I always learn something new.
I’ve been a fan of yours for years and have never taken the time to personally say thank you for the inspiration you bring to quilters everywhere!
I have one final thought to share with you. Your blog can be used to bring unity regardless of who is in the White House. Let’s just enjoy the love of quilting together.
Thank you,
Elaine S.
Yes!! Quilting is my solace! I don't know what I would do without quilting!
I haven't had a chance to do mindless sewing in a while... but I am looking at those log cabin blocks again! That is absolutely one of my favorite blocks of all time. No matter how you do it! I'm glad you'll have a house full again; looking forward to the creativeness that comes from them! We are just trying to make it through the week. Kids and staff are getting sick rapidly again. Have a good evening and happy sewing!
Yes I need quilting solice some days too. I hope your days get brighter Bonnie. *hugs* Jenny
I love mindless sewing of scraps when the things in life start buzzing in my head. I put on some music and sew the stress away.
Funny! Ivy is sticking her tongue at Lola
Just bought a sticker from Missouri QC that says "Quilting is cheaper than therapy", it's going to be stuck on the door of my sewing room.

That’s so sad. When will they ever learn. Good for you for standing up for your principles.
Hello Canadian - NOT the 51st state - thanks for the compassion and reminder about good people. We just feel kinda powerless right now. Like watching a petulant toddler throw daily temper tantrums and upset the whole household. Makes no sense. Someone needs Time Out? Or maybe a visit to a quilt bee to get an earful of common sense...
I have two cats, litter mates, and I keep saying it's like having perpetual toddlers.
MOTH is undergoing cancer treatment. I find that I can cope more easily if I have a session of mindless quilting plus a few tears. Too many nasty things happening in the world at the moment so my way of coping will get me through. Love to you Bonnie and all the other quilters around. Lainey Irvine
