I am as ready as I'm going to be.
Except for grabbing some gently-used and saved gift bags from the upstairs guest room closet and "wrapping" some odd shaped things that are headed with us to son Jeff's tomorrow for Christmas brunch.
We are having some friends over for Christmas Eve steaks on the grill tonight - we'll indulge in making merry, eating well, watching a Christmas movie and work in a couple of games of Mexican Train dominoes. It sounds perfect, right?
And it is fairly that - with the icing on the cake of needing to clean up puke from 2 cats, and finding "tootsie rolls" from Lola's littler box on the basement studio dog bed - likely put there and "saved for later" by Mabel. UGH!
It just goes to show you that anything you see posted on social media has been curated to make life look rosy and perfect. Remember, people are only showing you their "A" sides, while their "B" sides might be a bit more of a cluster.
First things first - you DID see that I sent out a surprise of an early Part Six of our Old Town mystery, yes? If not you'll find it in Yesterday's Post.
Hand quilting on Abbeygate is moving smoothly along - and since yesterday was basically a relax day around here I spent the afternoon into the evening putting enough stitches in that my calluses are shredded and need a couple of days to heal back up.
That's a lot of hand quilting! Click to Play:
And how well the cat holds everything down as well!
This was a rare moment with Ivy. She has made Hubster Dave her "person" and she would rather be in his lap than mine.
I'm sure it's because I don't hold still long enough, and my hands are busy with what's in my hoop instead of busy petting her. Whatever.
This was a nice moment!
This mess MUST be cleaned up before company comes this afternoon!
I am having a wonderful time digging right in and stitching your gifted aqua strips to my yellow and neutral string triangles....Do you recognize any of your own strips in this creative frenzy?
I have been having the best time opening your envelopes, reading the notes, feeling connected to who you are and what you are sharing with me - when most of the time I feel like I am simply sending these posts out into the void not knowing who is following along.
You have brought me so much joy!
If you would like to send a strip of aqua to add to my quilt - you'll find the info in This Post.
If you would like to send a strip of aqua to add to my quilt - you'll find the info in This Post.
Just remember to attach the correct needed postage.
There is a whole lot more aqua to be sewn! I'm not even half-way yet.
I want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.
And a warm, memory making Hanukkah to our Jewish friends.
I love it when holidays coincide between us and love is multiplied.
We are leaving early tomorrow morning for Christmas brunch at Jeff and Ashlyn's so there will be no blog post tomorrow. We'll resume again on Thursday.
Have a wonderful holiday, everyone!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Every time I see this quilt I think I want to remake it.
And there are so many others begging to be made.
It's going to be a very busy 2025 and I'm here for it!

Merry Christmas, Bonnie and family!
I always read your posts! They aren't in the void :) for me. I love them. Even the tootsie rolls 💩
It's fun to watch your travels and see the real side too. You give much of yourself and I'm really enjoying it. Thank you!
Indeed your Christmas plans sound just as they should be with family, friends, good food and good times. I do enjoy seeing your hand quilting, but what I really love is seeing you actually taking stitches!
sharing a sweet post from a fav comic and storyteller Regina Stoops --- Normal Notes Blog Twas the night before...
Seeing *IVY* on your lap made my day, nestled between all those red and cream fabrics. Merry Christmas to you and all from across the pond :)
I am analyzing the quilt behind the quote already! I would love to think my mind works like yours, Bonnie, but I know better!! I am so thankful that you share you knowledge, skills, and talent with us. Every time I tackle on of your patterns, I marvel at the attention to detail that goes into each one. I am currently working on my Wonky Wishes that I started at a workshop with you in (I think) Beaufort, SC in (I think) 2016. I am doing mine in red and neutrals. Won’t finish it before the end of 2024, but it’s going to be a finish before too much longer!
Merry Christmas!
Have a Merry, Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Bonnie and thank you for all you do. Enjoy your family.
Merry Christmas Bonnie!
I was wondering if you would share the path your quilting takes across this block. I can see that you are doing Xs in the squares and stitch in the ditch in the HSTs, but I can’t figure out how you connect them all.
Thank you for all that you do for us lurkers.
Merry Christmas Bonnie and Hubster!
Merry Christmas! Thank you for your wonderful Mystery Quilts! Like you, I see so many quilts I want to make. If only I didn't need to sleep!
Sending greetings from Winter Park, Florida and wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and many blessings for the New Year!
Merry Christmas ! Thank you for all you do!
Happy, Happy, Happy Holidays to all!
Happy holidays to all! Which quilt is under the quote? Bonnie, is it in one of your books?
Merry Christmas to you and your family from Australia. Thank you for all that you do, I look forward to each newsletter. Now its off to the beach for a BBQ Christmas lunch with the youngest son. Lis
I love the real life paragraph on the pets. So many of us are living it and definitely not talking about it. We love them to death, but would it kill a cat to move 6” forward and puke on the hardwood instead of the carpet?
The red/white is gorgeous!!
Have a wonderful Christmas!!

Oh, your evening plans for tonight do sound perfect. We had chicken fajitas as it was warm enough to be out on the patio. We are watching Home Alone & the lightning outside in a rare thunderstorm for South Central Texas. I'll take it as a Christmas Miracle! Ha! Oh, I follow along & try to keep up with your daily happenings almost everyday. It's good to take the day from social media & be with your family! Merry Christmas to you, Bonnie, & everyone who reads this!
Merry Christmas to you & Dave
Thank you Bonnie, 1st time Mystery Quilt, Merry Christmas to you and your families x
Merry Christmas to you & your family, Bonnie. We all treasure your friendship & generosity, your quilting patterns & tips, your life's ups & downs. Blessings to you
Merry Christmas!
I have a strong gag reflex so it doesn't take much. The other morning doing last minute tidying, I found someone forgot to use the litter box. Thankfully it was an "easy" cleanup. I lectured them both, neither looking away. I told them don't act like I'm not talking to them!--LOL!
