Diamond Tile PDF Pattern Gift-Away!

Some things wait a long time to be quilts.

Diamond Tile is one of those things.

I have spent years referring people to the Quiltmaker issue featuring Diamond Tile as a block in my Addicted to Scraps column.

And I've loved this block enough that I've made 2 quilts and a wall hanging with it.

But it needed to be a pattern.  And now it is!  And the pattern features TWO different settings for these fun blocks - both of which solve the problem of not having the pointy "arms" in the corners of the blocks having to connect to each other.

It all started here, with this vintage quilt. Another antique mall find.  The quilt may have been tattered, worn and torn, but that doesn't mean that there isn't block inspiration to be found.

Always looking for ways to dig into my Scrap User's System strip stash - I modified the block side and the piece size to work the way I like to work. 

The centers are perfect for fussy cutting, and the "arms" are longer and more narrow.

I hit up so many random orphan charm squares for the centers of the blocks - glad to have them find a place to call home, too!

And I love the pieced sashing that adds an extra element where the block corners come together.

And check out that accidental-fussy-cut cornerstone!  Cute!

This cornerstone is a nod to my earliest quilting and sewing days where I bought this mauvy print to make stuffed geese.  

This print is saying "You've come a long way, baby!"

Borders finish the nine-patch design at the edge tie everything together!

I quilted this version of Diamond Tile in a pale pink thread in an edge-to-edge design called Nemeshe's Feather Grande by Bethanne Nemesh.

A pink/red almost-gingham finishes the edge as binding.

This is the first Diamond Tile quilt finish - made a few years back when I was considering publishing another book.

The attic windows setting adds a neat 3-D effect, and also deals with the issue of "What to do with those corner arms touching each other?!"

I quilted the attic windows version of Diamond Tile in a pale aqua thread in an edge-to-edge design called Tealights by UrbanElementz.com.
