Deep Scrap Explosion!

Do you remember back in the day - I'm talking way back, now. (Because time flies) "Once upon a time, a long, long time ago...." type stuff.

It was after we finished our Allietare mystery (Or was it Easy Street?) that I had asked if anyone had any "Leftover grey strips" that they would tuck a couple in an envelope to be sent with a regular stamp because I had a string quilt I desperately wanted to make but needed a wider variety of grey?

Silver Linings from  String Frenzy  was the result.

But the story doesn't end there, as evidenced by the two tubs and and overflow happening in the top photo of this post.

You see, folks didn't just send "a couple strips and strings"  There were whole packages of strips, pieces, parts, recycled shirt sleeves (HA!) hunks and chunks and even FQs!

Needless to say, I've pulled grey out of these bins when needed to do many things - and even doing the string piecing in greys for our Grassy Creek mystery didn't make much of a dent.  Not really.

So what am I up to now?

I'm finding anything wide enough that I can cut pieces that I need because...oh! I have a plan! 

Of course, I do - but what?

That will have to wait a while - but dang.  This all kicked in while going back through some of my travel photos.

I have a habit of taking photos of tile floors.  Everywhere.  Ireland, Scotland. New Zealand. Italy. Poland. England. Spain. Where else have I been?  Oh yes, Vietnam.  And that's just within the last year.

I am planning on recreating one of these tile floors as a mosaic quilt. And I'm excited.

Will it make a dent in the grey bins?  Doubtful - but slightly hopeful.

A lot of the pieces are still to narrow and will remain as strings for another project down the road (Because you know there will be one)

I'm just feeling the change of mid-summer to late-summer and looking forward to the slow turn to autumn around the corner.

Things are still blooming.  There is still warm sunshine....but this shift to charcoal, light grey and yellow gold has hints of what is to come.

Yesterday morning about 10:30am.

Just me and a dirt road - a podcast in my ears.

I needed a jump start and a reboot after this crazy week.

Take a look at those trees growing right out of that big rock.

Who says that growth is easy? We struggle all the way through life.  If you want to reach the top, it all starts at the bottom.

It felt great to feel back to normal after days of prep and procedure.  And a recommitment to continue to do things that are good for ME whether I go out solo, or with a group.

How many good weeks do I have left to get a morning hike in?  Maybe 8 if I'm lucky.

Does it cut into sewing and designing time. Yep.  But just a bit. And that's okay.

Last side and sleeve to go.

This is coming along. Thanks to our Godfather trilogy - I admit to mostly just listening and zoning out while stitching.  It's not of my interest, but Hubster Dave enjoyed it, and that's okay by me.

Tonight might see this done, and then it will be back to hand quilting on the plaid stars.

The one thing I've had emails on is folks outside of the USA having trouble with the Buy Now button as it uses autofill and as they are international, they then get a message saying that we don't ship outside of the USA.

PDF patterns are not shipped. There is no problem if you simply add the item to the shopping cart, then click to the shopping cart and choose either your PayPal or Credit Card option.  It should process just fine from there. It has something to do with purchasing digital files with the BUY NOW button if you are international.

Do not use the Buy Now button.  Add the item to your cart and then click the cart and check out the normal way.

Sorry for the headache - but give this a try and see if it works for you.
