Check out that December cloud-strewn sky!
I forget how quickly the sun dips behind the mountain beyond the creek - and around 4:15pm I ran into the sewing room and exclaimed "Now, ladies! Pictures - NOW!"
It's that fine line of too much sun on the porch causing shade on half of what we were trying to capture, and the onset of too much dusk.
Frolic, Chilhowie, a newly finished top in time for the holidays, and Sugar Grove. Well done, quilters!
A trip around the world baby quilt top against something else to keep it from blowing in the breeze, Chilhowie and a gorgeous purple/green sampler quilt.
If you know the source of any of these that are not Quiltville designs - please leave it in the comments below.
Tumelo Trail from Scraps & Shirttails II and WOW - check out this humming bird!
Those two are followed by Labyrinth Walk, a cute and sunflowery GE Designs (Name unknown) and Texas Tumbleweed from MORE Adventures With Leaders & Enders.
Here's another photo of Melody's gorgeous 365 quilt in blues. It's a one-block-a-day quilt with many tiny pieces and you can find it by Googling. It's fabulous!
There were some last minute finishes that missed the over-the-porch-rail photo shoot:
Tracy did this great 9-patch for donation as quilts for teen boys are needed. I know this one will be loved and appreciated!
Ella finished her Rivanna top! Great job!
Linda made this cute 3-yard quilt top with cute puppy fabrics.
And we have a cherry red Silk Path layout of blocks!
What a fantastic end to our 2023 retreat season!
Travel home safe, everyone! We'll see you back in 2024!
View from my hoop -
Yes, I wound up going with fans after all - because I don't need to mark them, just eye ball them - and if they are a bit wonky, it just adds to the charm.
It's been great having the excess backing fabric and batting gone and having the edges bound.
Some nights I may get quite a bit done, some nights I'm lucky if I finish even one fan, but it's going to keep me toasty and hands will be busy during evening TV time through the winter months ahead.
Today - Yup. Laundry. Cleaning out fridges. Doing some general pick up -
And I'm on the fence as to whether I'll take down Christmas and start putting up Valentine's - or let the holiday decor linger just a while longer.
I'll be back at my desk in between loads starting in on Indigo Way Part Three. What do I have up my sleeve next for you? Just three more sleeps and you'll find out!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Learn to love people for who they are instead of judging them for who they are not.
But that grammar thing... it's a challenge!
Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!

Love the quote of the day!!! Still grate over grammar flaws, but try to keep my mouth shut.
Have a GREAT day!
LOVE the quote of the day!!!
Can someone please give me the name of the hummingbird quilt pattern?
Wow! Gorgeous quilts!! I need to decide on a quilt to hand stitch this winter. Love that you’ve decided on Baptist fans, such a great classic quilting pattern.
Beautiful quilts over the railing.
Love that purple and green sampler
Well I it's time to put up the Christmas tree today.
It's a cloudy day here in western Massachusetts
Will you be home for Christmas dinner?
Have a Sparkling day
Part time English teacher (also avid quilter with small business, if I may say so myself ;-), and currently subbing for a friend. Know the class for years and had to laugh out loud, when I read this. Beautiful quilts ladies. Ursula from Switzerland
Still absolutely loving the quilt you're hand quilting. Love the block, love the mix of shirts + vintage-y florals.... beautiful!
Why not leave the Christmas decor to enjoy 'till January! It's bright and cheery for a dull winter day or week.
I love the Legit Kits hummer. I have 3 of their paper piecing quilt kits. They are so fun. I love seeing all the quilt pics of the quilts completed at retreat. So fun.
That grammar thing indeed! I have learned not to correct people as they speak, but it's often in my mind. (My tiny cringe is not noticeable, I hope.) But that goes out the window when I'm watching the news. If those folks can't speak good English, they should have to go back to school until they can. Or don't they teach grammar anymore? I guess if two plus two can be any number "because you tried", we teachers have totally lost the battle! Retirement is a very good thing! So is your blog, Bonnie! Thanks for it and you.
I love that Legit Kits Hummer. So fun. Thanks, Bonnie, for letting us have a peek inside every day.

Sitting in a different spot this morning and the strong sunlight is lighting my laptop from the side, highlighting all the dust on its screen. As I started reading and scrolling down, it looked as though it was snowing in the first porch picture and my first thought was, "How did Bonnie DO that?!?"
Carolyn
Yep, There, Their, They're. My 3rd and 4th grade teachers drilled a few into me. I saw instead of I seen. Can't have that feeling of fingernails on the chalkboard. Love that you caught the sun just right. Great finishes. There is even time to get them quilted for gifts. Oh my what will part 3 be?? Square in a square?
Three more sleeps! I need to get busy on my second clue. It’s slow going
I really love that quilt that you have in the hoop! The design with the combination of fabrics make it look so vintage, and that border! This is my kind of quilt.
Yes the grammatical errors I see everyday makes me worry for the quality of education in our country. " Where did you get that at?" Makes me cringe :0(.
Happy Sewing!
Lovely, lovely quilts! Such inspiration!
The hummingbird quilt is from Legit Kits. Lauri Miller
Oooooh, that grammar thing!!! Heehee, no judgement 🤪 happy quilting!
I’m guessing that the Trip Around the World ‘baby’ quilt may be a large Trip Around All Florida Shop Hop quilt.
Big Hummer by Legit Kits. It is all paper pieced. They also have Little Hummer.
This OLD English laughed when she read that quote. Truth! My current pet peeve is misusing "than" for "then," but I, too, want friends.
I so agree about the grammar thing! I grew up in a house where people spoke proper English- even using whom when appropriate. After 30+ years of correcting kids hanger in school
Oh dear! I didn't mean to hit publish yet! But you get my idea. (And yes, I know it isn't proper to start a sentence that way. Poetic license.
