I promised a part 2 - And now I'm re-reading through Part 1 to find what photos have already been posted, and what needs to be included.
I loved this little village so much that I would go back in a heartbeat.
If you missed Part 1, you'll find it HERE.
And in order to set the tone for this lovely visit through a very small Polish village let me introduce you to our Polish guide, Kasia!
Kasia was kind enough to serenade us all the way through the Polish countryside, about a 90 minute4 drive from Krakow to Zalipie.
Needers to say, we were all enchanted!
Paint all the things!
One of our stops was to a folk art museum for a guided tour and explanation of how all of the folk art painting began in Zalipie.
Gathering around and seeing the documentation of many structures in the area.
The museum itself is a sight to behold. Everything here is panted by local artisans.
The colors were fantastic!
There is no such thing as a color combo that doesn't "go"
Flowers, flowers and more flowers!
They gladden the heart.
Other examples of folk art - like embroidery.
Paper cutting!
More paper cutting.
This is done with sheep shears!
(More on our paper cutting workshop to come in another post.)
Don't forget to look up!
Paper flowers festoon the ceiling.
A beautiful painted blanket chest.
An old cook stove - painted with flowers.
Everything is so pretty.
Floral detail on the outside wall.
Even the fall tones of rust and brown are gorgeous.
I think my favorite of all, though was wandering around the grounds outside and just taking in the little details here and there.
Things like painted clothes pins.
And the fence surrounding the compost heap.
It was early September, and flowers were still everywhere.
Painted tree trunk with garden beyond.
A bench begged us to sit and just be.
Old bike turned flower box.
Another tree with the traditional white painting.
Another shot of the garden.
And what would a field be without a scarecrow?
As we continued to make our way - I took pictures of more painted buildings.
Check out the painted fence on this one.
"Zwiedzanie" Simply means sightseeing - an invitation to come on in and visit and see. And we did!
Cute painted vignettes in yards.
Paintings around windows, wells and buildings beyond.
Polka dot trees and an old garden bench.
We were welcomed inside!
Notice the wall includes shards and pieces' of broken pottery in the stucco.
I have no words - so much time given to the beautifying of everything.
At this point I have no explanations - only photos.
I loved my time in Poland - all of it. But when I think of Poland, the first thing I'll remember is the day we spent driving out into the Polish countryside and spending the day just taking in all of the beautiful painted EVERYTHING in Zalipie.
It was marvelous. Simply marvelous. And so inspiring.
This morning I'm on my way to the dentist for that 6 month check-up and cleaning thing. I'm hoping they don't discover the need for any more crowns or other big-type-things. Just a cleaning please, thank you ma'am.
Irene's Sewciologists are arriving this afternoon and we have a beautiful day in the low 70s ahead of us.

Looking at this beautiful work makes me think of Sam McMillian, Sam the Dot Man, from Winston-Salem. Lovely.
I love all the painted fences and benches. Shutters and trees. Oh my! Gives me an inkling of Quilts to come. Happy hump day! Still stitching on Chilhowie.
WOW Zalipie looks like an amazing and very happy place - how can you not smile and be happy when you see all the beauty around you! Thanks for sharing Bonnie.
I am truly in awe of such a place. Beautiful! Even the everyday and simple was taken to another level! Thank you!
Amazing place!! Do people actually live in these buildings? Rose in Southern Oregon
When I saw the tree my first thought was, "Wow! Not even the trees are safe!" :) But they are done beautifully. I especially loved the covered bridge! Thank you so much for sharing, and looking forward to many more.... as I am our promised first good cool front! I am outting "Scrappy 4 patch X" into rows, and working on my CHilhowie. Up next after this is a baby quilt for my great nephew and maybe a Thanksgiving wallhanging for the classroom! So glad it's Wednesday ahead of a long weekend! Happy quilting!
Next to the painted stove is a green bench. I was surprised that it too did not have flowers painted all over it!
