Saturday morning brunch - and still so much fun to be had!
There is never a shortage of food, fabric or good times - just take a look at the faces of the July Quiltvillians enjoying their weekend.
It does my heart good to walk in and see this kind of camaraderie happening.
And because everyone is busy in the dining room - it gives me ample opportunity to wander through the Quilting Quarters and see just what is what and see who has finished something, started something new, or is continuing to push the pieces through on whatever project they've set their minds to.
That lovely Bitcoin in all batiks has grown over the week!
It's never too early to start getting those holiday projects underway.
The goal is to have the top complete by the time we do "over the rail" photos this afternoon. I think she'll make it!
This lovely corner - need I say more? Yummy!
And the scraps from the baskets quilt are going right into the Jacob's Cbain blocks at the far left. What a way to keep sewing up favorite scraps.
Two more lovelies on the wall -
There is no pattern for the Santa quilt. Diana has been working on finding a way to frame that large vintage looking Santa and her own creativity has taken her from log cabin blocks, to a red print border and on to the packages with the goal to make it fit her California King sized bed - it's marvelous!
Lisa is getting her batik Crown of Thorns blocks.
We had a little discussion on the different names for this wonderful traditional block. Other names for this spiky block include Single Wedding Ring, Georgetown Circle and Memory wreath.
Do you see the same block here?
I put it on point in my Hawk's Nest quilt from Scraps & Shirttails II and coloring it just a bit differently with my favorite solid cheddar to accent the recycled shirts and favorite neutrals.
With fall around the corner, I think I need to pull this one out of the quilt vault and enjoy it once again.
Do you know this great block by any other name?
Perhaps the best highlight of the weekend was the saran-wrap game played on the back porch.
This is usually played in the evening after I've gone home, so it was fun that I got to be there to see just what goes down and how cut-throat it is. LOL!
There are countless goodies wrapped in layers of saran wrap!
(Don't worry - they recycle the plastic wrap for next time!)
The person to your left has the dice, and you have until they roll doubles to peel back one layer at a time (no ripping!) and whatever falls out during your turn is yours to keep.
But once doubles are rolled the ball goes to the person who rolled doubles, and they have until the person to their left also rolls doubles to get out what they can!

There were great goodies to be unwrapped!
Everyone got a little bit of something.
Almost to the center!
Plenty of chocolate to share!
This was a really fun activity and I've heard folks do it with gloves or oven mitts on to make it that much harder,. but with 12 people who want to get back to sewing - this was just right.
And yes - it's Gift-Away Monday!
This post is posting a bit later than normal as the Hubster had an appointment for a steroid injection in his neck and wasn't allowed to drive himself home - so I've already been to Boone and back and am typing this from the QPO to get this job done.
Enhance your stash!
I love the fabrics that Cotton to Quilts has pulled for these rolls - and even better. If you purchase all 3, your shipping is free within the USA. Yippy!
Their neutral rolls are always my go-to. Such fun prints!
And our first winner:
Who is 4478 out of 5451 enties?
Joanna Baranek wins the red roll!
In search of entry 1982:
Jane Yates wins the blue roll!
Ladies, please reply to the email I sent you this morning with your Jacob's Cbain pattern attached. Send me your mailing addresses so the folks at Cotton to Quilts can get your fabric rolls out to you.
Thanks everyone for participating! It's been a great gift-away! I'm so excited about the participation.
Today is the last day to save!
No coupon code needed! Sale good through TODAY 7/31/23.Price reverts back to full tomorrow morning.
And I think that catches me up to everything that I planned to post today.
Today is the last day with the July Quiltvillians, but never fear - the August Quiltvillians arrive on Wednesday to carry on with the quilty fun all around.
My own day consists of going back to town for a Chiropractor visit for myself at 4pm (limping for the past 10 weeks has thrown my back out) and then I'll be back here for the over the rail photos by 5:30pm.
Firepit tonight at 8pm - and I think we can call this one a wrap! Whew!
I hope everyone had a great weekend -
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Then.....I sometimes wonder if it's the cat who is smarter! Lol!
Have a marvelous Monday, everyone!

Your game reminds me of the birthday party game of my childhood. Eating and unwrapping a bar of chocolate with putting on ski golves and hat and using fork and knife...
What a fun game! Great group activity! I have never seen it before! Your Hawk's Nest is one of my favorites and I have always known this block as the Single or Simple Wedding Ring.
We played in a couples group, but you wore oven mitts to unwrap. There was a nice dinner gift card in the center.
Love the saran Wrap game. Glad you can get relief for hubby. Back to back trips nor so fun. I hate when my back is out of whack. Sitting at the Chiropractor now. Pain in the back since last visit. Ouch. Congrats to the winners.
Holy Cow! Who wraps all the presents in the saran wrap ball?! What a nice game. I'm going to try it at my family dinner. All the ladies' quilts are just stunning. The vintage Santa quilt is so very clever. I Santa appliqued on the log cabins or did she piece around him? What a fun quilt.
Such a fun post. Loved the wall quilts in progress, such talent! And the Game! Gave me an idea for our Christmas party. Thanks! Just love this blog!!
