Some Springtime Quilty Content!

It's spring!

And with spring comes some very springy quilting -

You know I've been working on this now for several months - it only seems like it has come together quickly, but it really has been an ongoing project in between retreat comings and goings - any time I could grab some time to stitch the units.

Pink, yellow, orange, red, purple, turquoise - and a whole lot of green!

This week I was able to get the quilt loaded into the long arm and start the quilting.

Even the quilting went in fits and starts as we had the whole "Trap Tula!" event and had the vet day in between.

I quilted in sand colored thread using Nemish's Feather Grande pantograph.

I really like how it filled the larger neutral areas where blocks come together.

Trimmed and ready for binding -

A green variegated zig-zag stripe made the perfect binding!

I've been stitching binding down over the past few nights - it's coming along.  One side done, 3 more to go.

Yep! No borders needed -

What am I naming this quilt?

Morning Glories.

They come in so many colors and varieties!

Be watching for Morning Glories to be released as a PDF pattern in August.

Things to know:  Because of the odd angles I paper pieced all of the units in the quilt.  It would have had to be template cut otherwise.

Paper piecers will love this pattern, those who do not love paper piecing may not. Or maybe we could convince them to TRY to love paper piecing because the units are simple!

Quiltville Quote of the Day-

Don't let the push from others to be "realistic" squash your dreams!

Happy Friday everyone!

My OH My! What a beautiful garden you've quilted! I absolutely love this quilt!. Bonnie, you are amazing! Yeah, this pattern is one I've gotta buy. I love how you show us your new creations a while before they come out in a pattern. This way I get a chance to plan my projects to get them done before I just gotta buy a new one. I love paper piecing - the accuracy is awesome. I do have a die that will cut the kite shape, but not sure what your finished size is for that block...I'll just have to wait and see. C'mon August, c'mon.

I am gone 12 days in May to Vietnam. Thanks for understanding that it takes time to write the pattern and do all of the photography and step out graphics - I need more time. August will fit my schedule much better. And there are other things in the works for May, June, July.

Beautiful Morning Glories! I have been watching this one with interest. I knew it had to be paper pieced, and though I have not done any paper piecing, I am looking forward to building my skill on this quilt. I'll look forward to the August pattern release -- it'll be here before we know it. Thanks for another inspiring finish!

Sew Perfect. I'm in the Template cutter camp. That would be my preffered method. I still need to get my Purple version of QM Ruby Jubilee together. I got the sections together Wednesday. Love all the colors in your Morning Glory Quilt. The green vines were winding through the garden when I was in Council Bluffs. I didn't know about them until I saw them there. Hubby said they are weeds.

Isn’t she lovely? The secondary patterns always thrill me. The piecing is straight but it gives the illusion of curves. I must get me morning glories planted soon. So many colors to choose from. Happy Easter! Happy Spring! FranSak

Thank you, Bonnie! I really appreciate what you do for us. I do understand! You are a BUSY person. This pattern just struck a chord in me and has me itching to start and pull these color together. I love paper piecing for the exactnesss and, to me, it is error free easy. Have a wonderful Vietnam trip, I look forward to your posts and pictures.

I don’t love paper piecing but this quilt is stunning. You continue to amaze me with the variety and originality of your patterns. They are not just old blocks recolored and called a new name. Since I love the quilt I will definitely buy the pattern and tolerate the paper piecing to get the end results.

love it!! I have a very conflicted relationship with paper piecing, hopefully can use the summer months to "get over it" and purchase this pattern when it comes out.
