Where Quiltvillians Gather!

Of course we always think of dining rooms for dining - but it's also a great place to gather for a vintage sewing machine maintenance workshop!

And you know how my heart goes pitter-patter whenever vintage sewing machines are involved.

Just take a look at all of these lovely beauties! (And yes, I'm talking about the ladies as much as I am their featherweights!)

Diana is our vintage machine aficionado, and these sweet babies were humming after their spa day in the dining room!

And these weren't the only machines getting a play day in the dining room:

We got in some treadle practice as well!

And it does take a lot of practice.  Treadling can feel like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time.

It's so easy to not notice that the handwheel is going backwards as you try to get your feet into the right rhythm.

Foot position is going to be a bit different for everyone, legs are different lengths and the chair needs to be scooted for optimum pedal reach.

And these ladies did SO WELL!

Sewing without thread is helpful at first.

Look at her go!

It saves the rethreading of the needle each time the machine takes a turn and goes backwards instead of forwards.  When they are ready, we can thread it up and let them sew!

A request for a demo on how to wind a long bobbin had us moving to the OTHER treadle - a beautiful VS2 with dogwood decals.

Of course dining rooms ARE for dining too - and what a spread these gals put on!

Quilts rare reaching assembly stage!

She is bound and determined to have this quilt top over-the-porch-rail this afternoon for our photo op day.  I think she'll get it there!

Easy Street is found in MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders.

Sand Castles taking over the foyer floor!

All of a sudden, it's a top!

Pattern from String Frenzy.

Straits of Mackinac (also from String Frenzy) is going together without sashings!

Your quilt, your vision - go where it leads you!

Kismet and Winter Blues are taking over this corner!

Allietare is close to being a top as well!  Beautiful!

My own sewing....

This is the block for the project I'm currently working on.  Some of those blues are ANCIENT!  All  but the chartreuse green are coming from Scrap User's System Squares, and I've even dug back in to the neutral string bin to find pieces big enough to do the neutral areas.

I'm like a mad woman - I'm using this calm-before-the-mystery-storm to just sew and stockpile blocks.  I have no fixed idea on the setting yet, but I'm loving the elongated triangles of the green.

Fun fun fin!

This morning's sunrise above the fog.

We are having some weirdly warm November weather - today's high is projected to be 68.  Warm enough for a firepit night tonight.

It was 73 yesterday and I had to turn the A/C back on at the retreat as it was too hot and humid in the house to be comfortable, even with open windows.

This is life in the south!
Holidays are coming whether we like it or not!  And I have placed the PDF pattern for Pine Tree Point at 25% off in both the Quiltville Store and the Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop. No coupon needed.

Interesting block you're making.
I've been quilting my Spider and the Fly quilt. I've 3 rows done..
It's been warm and humid here too. Mid 70's and sticky. Today is the last day of this weather then back to November 50's and 40's.
Have a wonderful day ❤️

And we are looking for snow here in California, even my little corner of the So. Cal high desert! I am suppose to have a dr appt tomorrow down in the valley. Won't happen if it snows because they will close the grade.... too dangerous!

Your sunrise shots are some of my favorites! I am glad you are having such mild weather. I woke to SNOW. A good 3" and still coming down. I didn't expect that.

Glad to see the Vintage Beauties. My Treadle needs a new belt installed. I haven't played with it for too long. timeto get it unearthed and ready to play with some of the Mystery steps. Time is gettting way too close for the Holidays. Not sure how many we'll have if the weather is bad. Chilly in the PNW this week. Quilting Guild meeting Tomorrow. Guild UFO day today so we can have something to show and share.

These ladies always provide such inspiration!! :) I'm sure all of those vintage machines will be humming much better now they've had their day at the spa. Still working on my daughter's quilt... for some reason I am stalling on it. It was almost 90 here in south central Texas, with rainy mornings and humid afternoons ahead of a front this weekend. UGH weather!! Enjoy your fir pit evenings!

I finally sewed the blocks of Bear Paw together. If I have enough time tomorrow, I 'll put on the first border. All the pieces for the second border are done, but need to be sewn together. Since I added 2 rows l, have to make sure and see how the border will fit. Thank you Bonnie for a great pattern.
