Two girls hit Ormond beach for a Saturday morning walk....the first time I had seen the ocean what feels like forever.
I know it's been at least 3 years. But it's longer than that - probably the last time was November of 2019 when I went with a Craftours group to Germany.
But that wasn't even a walk on the beach - it was a fly over the ocean - so does that really count?
At any rate - I AM HOME!
And I had a most wonderful greatly needed little break with my friend. More on that to come over the next little while!
It's Thanksgiving week. Our Chilhowie Mystery goes live this week. And I've got several day's worth of things for you to watch for when it comes to great deals on stuff you want to add to your Christmas list.
First up is something super cute and great for gift-giving!
From my friend at Summit St Shop!
These cute little boxes are great for so many things.
I showcased these earlier this year and there is a NEW Happy Pup box for the dog lovers amongst us!
Summit St Boxes are a cute and clever way to store and organize all sorts of items. They hold 6-1/2in quilt squares perfectly!
They are also great for holding quilting, sewing, knitting, and scrapbooking supplies. Snacks, make up, toiletries, jewelry, and trinkets too.
Put some goodies inside and give as a gift! Pack up and take to a retreat! Boxes feature nice smooth edges and a super cute design on the lid.
Summit St Shop is in Wenbberville, Michigan! Are you within driving distance?
They've spent the last year and a half renovating a historic church building into a storefront and opened to the public on August 9th.
Summit St Shop carries quilting fabric, of course - but also decor, gifts and more!
And yes, you can order online. Summit St Boxes are currently on sale as well, and there is free shipping on orders over $75.00 within the USA.
When discussing how we would do this Gift-Away, we decided to offer up a CHOICE of either the Kitty Box or the Puppy Box to two lucky winners!
We'll draw for our winners on Wednesday, 11/30/22.
Winners must have prize shipped to a USA address. If you are outside of the USA, we can send it to a friend within the USA who can then forward it on to you.
I love my Summit St Boxes and use them all the time for sewing notions, block parts and units, bobbins, and more! Good luck, everyone!
And NOW back to some Florida!
This was me on Hwy 421 leaving the Blue Ridge Mountains behind. I headed toward I-77 which would take me through North Carolina into South Carolina to pick up I-95 and head into Georgia and on south to Florida.
Just in time to hit rush hour traffic in Charlotte, NC!
Crossing bridges in Jacksonville!
Our first attempt at beach access brought us here.
No Bueno.
But the sound of the surf is so calming!
There was just this much cloud cover which made for interesting photos.
I love this one!
And this one.
And past the pylons...
While walking along the beach, I always imagine what it would be like to live in a house like this -
And I always end up at the same realization. I don't want a bunch of strangers walking past my windows on a daily basis. LOL! But one can dream!
You'll notice that the house far left has a retaining wall that stopped a lot of the erosion from the hurricanes. The other house did not.
This one also - lost quite a bit of their back yard.
This retaining wall held.
No. I don't think I want to live on the beach. But it was great for a visit!
Another favorite photo I took - this guy just out there all by his lonesome - not bothered by our presence at all.
I love the reflection of the sky on the water - how the light glows both on the sky, and where the water has come up on the sand.
We crammed a lot of EVERYTHING into the 3 days I was there, including the quilting of two quilts and a whole lot of instruction on the Intelliquilter system.
You guys. It's SO DIFFERENT. There is going to be a huge learning curve for me, but I think I'm' up to it. And knowing I have a friend who can point me in the right direction when I have a question makes me feel like I CAN do it. I'm so grateful for the time we had together!
There is so much to be done here in the next few days.
I need to pick up the slack and get all of the orders out that came in while I was gone. I need to finish writing Part One of Chilhowie!
And Thanksgiving is in two days.
Today I get my bearings and move forward.
We've got this, right?
Holidays are coming whether we like it or not! And I have placed the PDF pattern for Pine Tree Point at 25% off in both the Quiltville Store and the Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop. No coupon needed.
Sale is good through 11/23/22 (Thanksgiving Eve) so hurry and save!
And if you already have this quilt started as a UFO - maybe now is the time to pull it back out and finish it up! I'd love to see your finishes.
(I don't care how gorgeous this photo is - I WANT SPRING!)
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
To live in the midst of fear is an act of courage.
And friends can help us through!
I thought this one was perfect for today.
Thanks again for everything, Terry!
Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!

Welcome home! I could almost smell the salt air. I love the beach, any beach, any time of year. Glad you managed a refresher before busy, busy takes over again. The other welcome is "Welcome back to reality!", right? Ha!
I remember your quest to find pearl onions in cream sauce for Thanksgiving one year. Glad you had a good time. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
I am happy for you that you had some time off. I imagine ‘mystery season’ can be very stressful. The sound of the ocean can be so calming.
Always a challenge to learn new systems, but can also be rewarding. It’s great that your friend is just a phone call away.
Have a peaceful Thanksgiving.
Hi Bonnie! Glad to hear you had a great visit! If you and Terri went just a couple of miles south to Daytona Beach Shores and been able to gain access to the beach there, you'd have been devastated by the damage the surf did to the shoreline houses and highrise condos there. I haven't ventured to the beaches yet myself, just watching a bunch of drone footage was enough for me. Cured my desire to one day have a condo on the beach... Terri is a fabulous quilter and acquaintance of mine, though I haven't seen her in a while (I've had some health issues this past year). I have been awestruck by her creations and hope she is doing well.
welcome back, missed you and am glad you had a 'walk on the beach' time, we all need to recharge our creative batteries, and your output would prove the need -- you go for a walk... me? I take a nap!!! No wonder you are so prolific and to our benefit... Looking forward, and with great interest in your new adventure with the long-arm... Hugs, Happy Thanksgiving, Cats in Carlsbad (at the beach) CA
I love your beach pictures, I am currently working on the Sand Castles quilt.
Beautiful Beaches. I haven't been for over 3 years. Guess I'm going to need to wait to see if you took a Quilt to the Beaches in Florida. Purple Jubilee would be fun to see on the Beach. So glad you got home before the Rush of Travelers tomorrow. I missed your Blog posts. Waiting and stitching on until Mystery Fri-Yay
Welcome home 🏠! Glad you had fun and some time off.
The giveaways are cute.
Been baking pies and cheesecake for Thanksgiving...
What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
It's good for you to learn something new everyday, so the new system should keep your mind and body nimble for a long time.
I have been busy cleaning my sewing room and better organize my fabric. I found fabric I didn't know I had and some where I didn't know where it came from. I have lots of strips in 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3", 3/2" Nabd 5". I don't know what to do with them yet. I guess I have to fo some browsing on your wendie, Bonnie. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Welcome home and happy you had a great time and safe travels. I missed "hearing your voice" via the blog while you were gone.
I love those little boxes! I ordered a couple the first time you mentioned them. The covers are really tight. I may have to order a couple more.
It's good to hear you had a great break. Yet still so busy. Love your pictures and happy you made it back safe and sound. You are so loved by all of us and missed when you are gone. Nice to have you back. Good luck on the new software, can be challenging but I believe you are way more up to the challenge than most. I've been learning Autopilot with Innova, getting there, and that's a good thing.
So glad you are home safe and that you had a good time!
So glad that you made it home from your time away. It's always scary learning something new, but I know you've got this! Can't wait for mystery season! I'm sure your fur babies are happy to see you!
Glad you're back and had a great time with your friend! I'm fortunate to live right on the east coast near the beaches. In fact, I work in Ocean City Md so I see the the bay or the ocean every day on my way to and from work. Looking forward to Chilhowie this week. Thanks for all you do!
I have to keep telling myself, "with God's help, I can do hard things"
I loved your beach pictures. We are thinking about a visit next spring...... I DO live close to Webberville (no "N") but I'm trying the contest first! Glad to have you back.
WooHoo, I do live driving distance from Webberville! yea me! No need to enter the contest and clog up the chances for everyone else...plus it gives the hubs something to get me for Christmas! ;) Jo Kramer showed another pic of her Bonnie string pineapple and I am off to pull out my book...
My old stomping grounds, both my kids were born in Florida just up the road in Daytona. So sad to see so much beach damage. Looks like a great break from work Bonnie, safe travels!
