Sew Long, October Quiltvillians!

November 1, 2021 was full of sunshine!

Just check out this gorgeous display over the porch rail from yesterday afternoon!

(Don't let this sunshine fool you, I woke up to rain hitting the metal roof this morning....)

But yesterday was just as beautiful as a November day can be in these parts.  Folks even got out for long walks along the New River - an activity that hasn't happened for me with the rolled ankle incident that is still on the mend.

I'm so glad they got out!  And by the smiles on their faces, I know they had a great time.

A fantastic strring quilt with an ocean theme, a finished top called "Fire Escape" Frolic and a Unity quilt!

Wonky Wishes, Grassy Creek, and three beautiful quilts I don’t know the names of.

Another Unity quilt, and a beautiful winter applique!

April finished her On Ringo Lake top just in time for photos!  Also shown: A modern snowflake, a beautiful quilt in French General fabrics, and a completed Razzle Dazzle top.

Melinda wowed us with her Jared takes a Wife from the Free Patterns Tab, and her version of Grassy Creek!

Along with her king sized version of Pineapple Blossom!

(Free Patterns Tab)

Connie's colorful version of Winter Blues in rainbow, which she is calling Fiona's Winter Garden. Oh, I love this!

When I left to come home for dinner, there were still beautiful things up on design walls -

Beautiful! That's Serpentine Web on the right from String Frenzy.

Anyone know the pattern source for the other?

My sons would LOVE this!

Holiday runners in production - oh my!

I spy Spider & The Fly and Fair & Square from Scraps & Shirttails II!

This group has been so happily productive during their time here, but don't assume that it has all been pedal to the metal at the sewing machines!

There has been games, great food, loud laughter, sharing, making of new friends, telling stories, and more!

Last night's farewell fire pit!

The last of the 2021 retreat season as time changes next week and nights are getting too cold for wanting to be out there.  We'll have to  stay by the warmth of the Quilting Quarters' fire places instead.

Such a fun time!  I will miss these gals who are all members of my Quiltville's Open Studio group on Facebook.

By the time I get to the retreat this morning, many will have already headed out on their journeys home - some leaving as early as 6:30am!

Safe travels, ladies - we'll see you next October.

And it's going to be a quick turn around - the November Quiltvillians arrive tomorrow afternoon and we do it all again!

I have placed the printable PDF pattern for Pine Tree Point at 25% off - only $9.00 in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store. Sale price good through 11/24/21 when it will return to full price at $12.00. No coupon code required.

I made the runner in blue, too!  Good for having out all winter long!

And don't forget to enter - It's October Quilty Box Gift-Away time! And you can get your entry in ON THAT POST.

The fabrics in this box are super gorgeous - and one lucky winner will be drawn on Saturday, 11/6/21.

Tuesday for me will be getting ready for Tomorrow's group as this group makes their exit. I'm not sure if there will be sewing time, but I'll sneak some in when I can.

What do you have planned for today?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

During the month of November I like to intentionally focus on one thing each day that I am really grateful for.

Today I am thankful beyond words for a quick contract on our North Carolina home so we can fully be 100% in Virginia.

And so much more that words can't express.

Quilt from the collection of Linda Collins taken when we were at Quilt Market in Houston in 2016, what seems like a lifetime a go.

  1. I am thankful for your weekly mini quilt shows, so fun to see them over the rail at the inn.

  2. What a great day you Gals had. All beautiful quilts too. That fire pit is the best though. Nothing better than sitting around a fire at the end og a day.
    Blessings.

  3. Today is my volunteer day at The Call which is an agency that assist parents who are in the children's fostering program in our area. They provide assistance, clothes and other items for those who are caring for these children. Quilting will happen tomorrow for me. I do have a quilt that is in the binding process so I can relax and do that tonight. This afternoon I plan on pulling fabrics for the new mystery. I want to do this one completely from my stash.

  8. I love the fire escape quilt. Orange is not usually my thing, but that one really speaks to me. It's very striking. So happy for November. It means only one more month until our move home to NC.

  9. grateful for Bonnie Hunter and her contribution to my life (and the thousands of other quilters on the planet--just look at the numbers entering her drawings!) Do One Thing? DOT... how do crumbs and debris collect in the silverware drawer??? That divider has quite an accumulation that must go, today! and i hope to recycle some cardboard boxes that have been "saved" for far too long. Have your best day ever, everybody! Be kind, especially to yourselves! Cats in Carlsbad CA

  13. Dear Bonnie, Thank you for the reminder to focus on grateful; yes daily grateful focus brings peace and tranquility to our day. Seems we are all moving too quickly and need to slow and appreciate more! We all sincerely appreciate the lovely sharing of Quiltville and the many talented quilters. Truly a daily inspiration! Blessings!
(PS: Hey Cats in Carlsbad, I cleaned my silverware keeper last weekend; they do accumulate🤨)

  14. If anyone comes up with a name of the block which has 2 drunkard's path blocks and 2, 4 patch blocks I'd sure be interested. Thanks! What a show and tell treat!

    1. That one caught my eye as well! I'm always looking for a new fairly simple pattern for my comfort quilts that go to the communitys in need.

    2. Since you know it is two four patches and two drunnkard's path blocks you don't need a pattern and you can call it whatever you like. I thought it was quite interesting, too.

  16. The gray black and blue quilt looks similar to The Crooked Mile I made several years ago.

  17. Every time I see the quilts hung on the porch, I think how fun it must be for you to have realized your quilt retreat dreams. What a great tradition of having your guests see themselves with their quilt over the railing! Enjoy your time together! Thanks for sharing all the fun with us!!

  19. The third quilt is from flannels and is called Woven Windows by Bonnie Sullivan.
