Whoowhooo!
It's time, it's time, it's more than time!
The middle of the month arrives so quickly - one day we turn from August to September, and then BAM! It's the middle of the month!
But with the middle of September comes the desire to be tucked up cozy inside, playing with fabric and planning on how I am going to happily quilt myself though the fall and winter months ahead.
I can't stop the seasons from getting colder, so I may as well dig in and enjoy it!
Are you with me?
In September Sky -Stars Twinkle!
Stitch a field of purple stars twinkling within black octagon backgrounds and string them together with simple chain blocks. Easy to follow directions with full color photos and graphics allow you to choose your favorite construction methods!
Quilt Size: Approximately 81’’ x 81’’
I posted this teaser video to Instagram about September Sky:
There is something about a quilt wafting in a breeze, isn't there?
If you have been with me a while (I've been blogging here since 2005!!) you will remember that bag of purple/black bonus triangles that came home with me after a teaching trip.
You will remember when I needed more of that SAME black background fabric, long out of print and how a simple post gave me enough in the mail to finish the quilt AND use the gifted fabrics as the black inner border.
I love these star blocks, easily made from Scrap User's System sizes - and how the purples go from a royal purple to red violet.
Spider & The Fly is full of Spooky Fun!
Combine your favorite Halloween fabrics with other oranges, neutrals, blacks and greys from your stash for an autumn quilt Sew Fun to MAKE!
Here is the Instagram video I posted about Spider & The Fly.
AND as all quilt patterns go - also envision this quilt in other colors from patriotic to holiday and more.
Easy to follow directions and full color photos allow you to choose your favorite construction methods!

I used my Essential Triangle Tool for the triangles in BOTH quilts, and it is a tool I know I will use again and again and again as I LOVE triangles in my quilts.

It's time to start in on the fall projects - to pull out those oranges, golds and browns and dig in to some comfort sewing with the upcoming change of seasons!
I hope this inspires you to dig in to some fall sewing!
There are also some other BIG projects going on behind the scenes that I can't share just yet - you know what happens at the end of October, don't you? Yes. THAT!!
My ankle continues to get better every day. Today I am even wearing shoes. It will be a while before I can take another long hike - but getting around is improving and it feels good to be a bit more mobile.
Okay, this is a lot for a Wednesday morning post.
What do yo have going on today?
Quiltville Quote of the Day
I love this thought -
Let's put it into practice!
Enjoy your Wednesday, folks!

Thank you, Bonnie! Two beautiful quilts again! You just amaze me with how much you get done. I am hoping to get organized this fall and really dig in to making some scrappy quilts. Thank you for inspiring me to keep going.
Today I'm going to be digging thru my stash looking for orange, black and grey fabrics! But first, I need to go to get the windshield replaced on my three month old car. A rock hit it on the highway the other day, so I need to take care of it before the crack gets too much bigger.
Heading out on a 4 (hopefully) hour trip home from seeing my grandkids <3 Probably no sewing today but there is always tomorrow :)
I’m loving the fall colors in this post, it getting me excited for fall! The summer was a blurry dismal for me I fell out camping and broke my ankle I kept sane by hand work and sewing, so glad I have many hobbies!
I'm going to try to finish the quilting on my last year's Halloween quilt. This is my year to finish all I made last year at the beginning of the pandemic. I really like Spider and the Fly. It will go on my list!
Today I'm working on a mystery quilt in Christmas colors except I decided to turn this lap quilt into a tablecloth for our holiday table. I have cut my pieces, sewn my strip sets, pressed and ironed them so I'm ready to start assembling. I found the Christmas fabric for the backing on closeout--hooray!
My new washer was just delivered, PT and a haircut this afternoon. In between I’m cutting out the Fishies 🐠 leader/Enders to prep for a retreat next week!
Ohhh these look so fun!
Thank you! Your quilts are beautiful!
love both of these quilts. 'when i grow old, i will wear purple.' (stolen from the poem) no one said it had to be clothing. i can wrap up in a purple quilt and be happy. i love everyhing about the fall and have plenty of oranges and fall colors for the spider and the fly. great name. thanks so much for all you do for us. patti in florida
I don't know how you get so much done!! Wow! Beautiful quilts every one.
Loved watching the quilts move in the breeze. I cannot stop seeing bear and/or lion faces in the Spider and the Fly pattern. Especially those with the black/dark plain hour glass blocks. I wonder if I can make the block into my cat's face. Hmmm, I think I will try that.
I had to go back and look again. Oh my goodness, you're right! Now I can't stop seeing a lion face. What fun!
Love your new quilts! I want I want I want! Let the fun begin. Thanks Bonnie and happy to hear you are in shoes today. You and what you do with your life make my heart sing.
Oh MY!!! I am loving these new releases! I too am also waiting for the cooler weather. It just gets so hot this time of year in South Central Texas. I can't wait to dive off into these and see what everyone else comes up with. And yes, there is just something special about seeing a beautiful quilt floating in the breeze. Today we are just trying to make it through the rest of the week! Coming home to a handful of new patterns and you give me two more to enjoy! :)
Love your new quilts. Love the Autumn pattern, I bought it now I have to find where my iPad stored it. I have a lot of fall colors to put in it. Have a great week Bonnie. From TN soon to be from AR.
Thank you! Absolutely LOVE both new patterns, I have grown a great respect for your scrappiness. Many blessings Bonnie!
Always something coming from you, Bonnie! I like both new patterns and will be sure to enjoy the making of my very own. Sandi
Love the quilts. I’m glad your ankle is improving. Take it easy. I love seeing Appalachian Autumn. Sadly , mine is currently in storage after my move to Georgia. Can’t wait for Fall, it’s my favorite time of the year.
Beautiful quilts! I am especially drawn to the September Sky pattern. Could it be the purple? I think so.
I love the September Sky. Chains will always call my name! I am finishing two nine patch quilts that my mother hand pieced sometime in the last few years. I have machine quilted both of them and plan to gift them to my sons. From their grandmother and mother...
I love them both!
I am itching for a new start! This is a wonderful idea! Thanks Bonnie!
Both quilts are lovely! I love the name for Spider & the Fly! I am making string blocks today...always scraps for string blocks. :-)
Going to have to make September Sky for my purple loving daughter. Gorgeous quilts, as always.
Another WOW moment...;^)
