Sew, Hike, EAT!

Can you hear the laughter and feel the friendship that is happening here?

What started last July post-lock-down when we only had 6 ladies able to attend for Chris's first Christmas in July retreat has now expanded to full capacity at 12.

Those who weren't able to come pre-vaccine last year are able to be here and partake in all of the crazy fun that happens on retreat!

One of the best things?  THE FOOD of course!

Don't you dare mess with the chef! LOL!

All the salad bar fixin's are in the dining room!

Make your best salad ever, and then head on through the kitchen out to the back porch where your sandwich will be served to you, as ordered!

I keep laughing to myself that I've got the best deal going - not only to they make yummy meals, but they FEED ME TOO!

It's all of the good food that has us needing these lovely walks!

Great going girls!

While the bee balm is still abundant, the chicory is waning as the summer marches on - but these are new this week!

Creamy white morning glories, beautiful magenta centers!

Made it to the NC state line!

We worked up a little glisten, and headed back to the inn to start Winter Blues day 2!

Quite a few design walls are showing evidence of Day 1 blocks!

Cutting strip sets for day 2 blocks!

Assembly in progress!

Did I mention we have these blocks going in THREE sizes?!

LOVE IT!

Laying the day 2 blocks in place - seeing how things will look later!

Oooh!  Love the colored centers!

(Mine were neutral)

Had to adjust the lighting on this one - not a great photo -

But you can see mine behind in the hallway -

Next to this larger scale.

Sew your own vision!

I headed home mid-afternoon after workshop time for day 2 was done.  I was so pooped out from all of the good outdoor walking, food & fun, I slept for 2 hours!  I guess I must have needed it.

These photos came of the group's evening activities from last night - Christmas cookie decorating out on the porch!

Funny hats, blinky lights and all!

Has anyone seen my arm?  *MUNCH*

Is this what Christmas is like in Australia?

I think I like it better in the summer!

Inappropriate cookie decorating?

Quick!  Eat the evidence! LOL!

I'm so glad everyone is making such fun memories.  As soo as I hit send on this post I'll be heading over for Winter Blues day 3.

For those who asked for more Ivy & Zoey photos -

Yes, Zoey herds Ivy around the yard.  It's the cutest thing to see.

It's also Ivy's first anniversary of coming in to our lives.  She made her appearance while Chris's Christmas in July group was here last year.  It's been a year of fun for both of these fur babies who have become the best of friends.

I can't imagine my life without either of them.

So here we are at SATURDAY.  Another weekend upon us.  Do you have anything wonderful in store?

Just to catch you up - we have TWO Gift-Aways currently running here on the blog.

I finally received the June '21 Quilty Box after it got lost in the mail.  It features beautiful fabrics by Anna Maria Horner.  You can enter to win ON THAT POST.  Drawing to happen next Tuesday, July 27th.

Our Rockabilly Swing PDF pattern Gift-Away incudes a gorgeous Jumble of Color roll by Cotton to Quilts.

Did you enter on THAT POST?

Fabrics from 1980s all the way to today -

Scraps in all colors, in every genre and variety.

You cheered me on as I made block after block after block in this adorable size - and watched as it was assembled, quilted, and bound.

And now you can start your OWN Rockabilly Swing journey with my PDF pattern which includes the printable paper foundation template.

The introductory price of Rockabilly Swing has been placed 25% off at $9.00 through July 31, 2021.  No coupon code needed.

Rockabilly Swing is paper foundation pieced.  I have used Carol Doak's 8 1/2'' X 11'' Foundation Paper with much success.  It is available in the Rulers, Notions & Tools section of the Quiltville Store. (Limited supply)

You can also find it in the Quilting All the Time category of the Quiltville Amazon Affiliate Store  Direct link HERE.

You can also use 8 1/2'' x 11'' newsprint, though it doesn't like some printers. (I get jams occasionally on mine)  It is also available HERE.

If this is your first time downloading digital patterns from my store to a computer click HERE.

If you intend to download to an iPhone/iPad click HERE.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

I've come to realize that what people say to you and think of you is more a reflection of themselves than of you.
It's a waste of time to try to set other people straight, silence is often the best answer.
Old Tobacco Road was one of our earliest mysteries. Free pattern found under the Free Patterns tab at the top of the blog. Scroll down to the bottom of that page to find it.

And with that, I'm off to join the ladies at Quiltville Inn -

I'll catch you back here on Monday.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Hi Bonnnie, yes, a little like Christmas in Australia, but we tend to eat seafood and salad, and have barbeques as well, hopefully with a swimming pool, or the beach closeby for those essential cooling dips!

Thank you for all you do. Love it all! Any idea why Old Tobacco Road is not in the free patterns? Love the pattern as I do all your quilts. Thanks again!!

Yes it’s great in Australia for Christmas in the summer time. A lot of people still do the traditional meals, some just do a bbq (depending on the heat for the day). We have started it degustation style. We put out a different style every hour and keep going all day. If someone turns up they either bring a dish or they just have what’s there. There is always plenty. It could start out with little bbq sausages, then maybe a cheese platter, a prawn salad, ham steaks, fresh salad or just a fruit salad. We also have the fruit cake and cheese, the biscuits and the lollies. And if you still have room there might even be some pudding. Lots of laughter, chatting and good ol’ fun. It’s so good when you can sit outside and have plenty of space.

I have been working on Winter Blue's since last month and am finally on the setting triangle construction, they are almost done. I babysit my grandkids everyday, even weekends so that is why it takes me longer, one day I will make it to a retreat and have fun like all of these sweet ladies seem to be having.

It's listed near the very bottom under Mystery Quilts. You have to scroll past the free patterns until you see Mystery Quilts.

Bonnie, I saw a t-shirt that made me think of you. It's in the newest Acorn catalog and it says "She believed she could, but her cat was in her lap, so she didn't."
