Snow! We’ve got snow!
A big snow dumping this early in December is not a usual occurrence in North Carolina. Sometimes we get a light dusting in January, or perhaps some freezing rain (that always takes the power out) in February – but this is a solid several inches, and it is still coming down.
From the back porch -
Too cold for a hot tub today!
My little bungalow from the top of the drive -
All of this comes on the day after a computer issue – and things that were under the OneDrive menu (owned by Microsoft –) that were POOF GONE from my computer when I did something stupid with my phone, never to be recovered. NOTE – NEVER keep all of your photos and documents under a OneDrive menu! Things can happen, and do.
Luckily I’ve got drop box and google photos for painstaking recovery, but this is a headache I didn’t need right now.
And pent up with extra energy and nowhere to put it – I tackled this:
All of the Tupper-Stuff in the cupboard!
Bottoms without lids, and lids without bottoms are GONE. The glassware I love best is on the bottom shelf where I can reach it and use it more often.
Since plastic tops and bottoms go missing from the plastic stuff more often than not – I’m only keeping certain sizes of the cheapy ones that I don’t care if they are pitched, given away with goodies, or left at the cabin, or elsewhere.
And that includes the hard boiled egg container that when discovered at the back of the fridge after being in Virginia for a week, was unceremoniously thrown out - eggs, container and all – because who is going to want to open and wash that thing? No. Keep it cheap is my motto. And don’t have more than you really need.
My files. My photos…..Class Supply Lists, Invoice Forms….GAH!! (this just keeps playing through my head.)
My word program couldn’t even find anything – because stuff was saved under ONEDRIVE. That OneDrive is nothing more than the Highway to Helllllllllo.
Sorry. It’s not the end of the world, but something I didn’t have time for.
Something I DO have time for -
Let’s draw for the winner of our Quilty Cozy Gift-Away!
Entry 421 out of 5016 belongs to:
Rose Wilson!
Rose, I’ve sent you an email, and I’ve also sent a mail to C&T publishing who will contact you about your e-book downloads. Thank you for participating!
And since I’m feeling so discombobulated –let’s throw in another!
Last night’s perusing!
Quilt Now is Britain’s Number 1 guide to fabric and quilting – this is the Winter issue, #56. It comes with a great little bonus book of Quick-Make gifts – and I LOVE the gifty table runner on the cover!
Luckily you can find it at Barnes & Noble and at some Joann Stores here in the USA, and it is available for order online HERE: https://www.moremags.com/sewing/quilt-now
I am gifting away this set ALONG WITH a copy of my new book STRING FRENZY AND a digital pdf copy of my Hunter’s String Star pattern to ONE LUCKY winner!
Let’s draw for that winner on Thursday – as Part 4 of Good Fortune goes live on Friday! (I’m only glad I haven’t written part 4 yet as I really don’t want to lose THAT file either!)
I think I’ll go clean another cupboard. And throw something in the crock pot. And enjoy the softly falling snow…
And pray it doesn’t take the power out!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
Honest creativity is not a competition.
Create with blinders on,
Dig in and do it for the love of creating,
Not by watching and comparing your work to what others are creating and where they are in their own creative journey.
Enjoy your Sunday, folks!

Your home is so pretty in the snow!!
Recovery can happen - in some way, maybe, sometimes - I wish you the best with recovery! Good luck hope your power stays on and you are able to keep stitching! Thanks for all you do and share.
Snow is so pretty, just makes it so cold and messy in a few days usually. We have had more than I want already here in the KC, MO area. I haven't had time to sew, other than hand sewing done at the hospital, but my hubby has made it home now. Praise God! I just need to get him feeling better so I can do more on finish quilting the last 1/4 of ORL. Then get the binding on before Xmas. Enjoy the house cleaning venture Bonnie while you watch that snow. I plan to do some more of that in the next few days myself, my least favorite thing to do, but it has to be done once in awhile.
You go Girl !!!!! stay warm...the cupboard cleaning will probably help with that !
Know that thousands are wishing you well today and that you have made Millions of days better for all of us.
arghhhhh! no 'advice' fom me, I'm a computer dinosaur... in my younger days I was a "hot shot" typist! Figured bring it, when computers and word processing came -- ha ha ha, what a humiliating experience to learn the computer and the word processing program! Frustrating? omg.. so, no advice from me!!! and my word, i wish I had a 6 year old to help me make the most of my phone!!!! Stitch on my leader/ender... stitch on! For sure we have Options and flexibility... makes life's bumps in the road so much easier !!! <3
Obviously your computer is saying it is sew time.
Absolutely beautiful. I love sitting in a hot tub when its snowing. It's the best.
What is it about platicwear and missing lids or vice versa?
Well FUDGE... soooo sorry about the technical issues... praying for a miracle for ya...just keep busy and try to enjoy the winter coming down around ya... THANK YOU Bonnie for all you do...Love from Arkansas 💗
Your little house looks picturesque in the snow, but I think a crockpot meal when the weather is so cold is a fabulous idea. Sorry to hear about your computer I’m not very technologically aware and always get my sons to put things right.
Love your idea about plastic containers I’ve a cupboard full of odds and end I think I need to be ruthless and cull mine too.
Take care and keep warm
Love and quilty hugs
Anne xxx
Thanks once again for all you do for all of us and to perpetuate the art and skill of quilting
No advice from me either! I left my computer for some reason and when I came back it was one of those dreadful error messages-blue screen and all! After having this message a couple months ago, I knew I needed to back up my downloads. Did I? NO! Should I? YES! All I could think of was the $99+ online class from your truly! The new string quilt Hunter Star. The new pumpkin table runner, ETC! OMG!!! Dread is a bad emotion. BUT I recovered the screen and still have all those files! Have I copied these files to a thumb drive. NOT YET! Good luck with the recovery of those files!
I have a love/hate relationship with them...that's why I sew...! Good luck in this weather...!
Comparison is the theif of joy! Thanks for the reminder, and I hope your computer issues get solved (aren't they supposed to make life easier?) Stay off the ice! :)
Have you ever wondered where those missing lids go. Someday I'm going to discover a hoard of them somewhere . . .
I am playing the Glad game like Pollyanna today. The Snow is pretty, and a Jammy day sounds good. Fingers crossed for your power to stay on. No snow here.
My stomach is churning along with yours in regards to losing all your files and photos. Oh my goodness, what a headache. Wishing it may be 'found' again.
Happy Snow Day!!😁
Congratulations to Rose the winner of the prize. Way to go! Stay cozy #BonnieKHunter
"And don’t have more than you really need." said no one ever when talking about fabric!
The snow is beautiful. Thank you for sharing the picture. Hope you have a blessed day - and keep on going forward - it is the best direction!!
Can we help by sending you files you sent to us? I have clues 1-3 in .pdf or I can convert to Word if need be. No advice. Just want to help.
Bonnie, Your computer problem sounds like what would happen to me. lol. I hope you will find a way to retrieve everything. This is a crock pot day for me also. Beef stew cooking and catching up with Good Fortune sewing. I'm and almost neighbor in Davidson county. The snow is lovely coming down here also. Happy Sewing if you can.
I think I'll put a roast in the crockpot.
Enjoy your snow day.
I recently got rid of our Tupperthingies is too. The freedom that brings is undeniable. Enjoy your beautiful Michigan like snowy winter day in beautiful North Carolina. Stay cozy.
Sorry about your files; I know how you feel. Last month I lost 4,000 pictures! Even though I have the iCloud!! Sad but I just have to get over it and go on! I just ordered String Frenzy ( an early Christmas present from myself!) I have never made a sting quilt but it is #1 on my ti do list !! Thank for all you do!
Computer problems certainly create their own sort of helllllllo!! Where is a 12 year old when you need them!! Your snow is beautiful.
I really want your String Frenzy book, but I am willing to wait until the “ordering frenzy” is over. When it all levels out will you still give the free Hunters Star with it? I know I can get your book elsewhere, but this way you get “all” the money.
The snow is pretty, but I have decided that in my life snow is a four letter word of that variety. Hope the computer problems are all retrievable. Computers are indeed a blessing and a curse.
Computer issues suck! Just putting mine back together after needing a full re-install. Enjoy your Snow Day and hope your power stays on.
Best wishes to you, Bonnie, been thinkin about you when hearing about snow storm! Rain n wind here, great day to create right where I'm at! 😁 Thank you so much! I'm inspired!
The best time for the hot tub is when it is snowing. I miss my hot tub in the winter I'm from Michigan you are only cold getting there but the snow is amazing. My kids laughed there butts off at me running across the deck on ice falling? Sliding up to the hot tub, they still mention it to this day.i still have a scar so don't run but enjoy yourself it is wonderful.
So sorry about your computer troubles. It's scary how much of our life's work can be accidentally deleted! You are not alone in this.
Glad to know you are safe and warm during your snow storm . Sorry about your computer issues.
Yes, I will :) Thanks, Bonnie!
Your Tupperware lids and bottoms must be in Plastic Land along with mine. Where oh where do they go? I rarely buy the Tupperware brand anymore. Like you said, go with the cheapys! I'd say it is time for you to sew and enjoy your winter scene!
I've heard rumors that those naughty lids elope with those bad boy single socks!
It is only 15 degrees and bright and sunny where I live so I have spent part of my day bathing and feeding my 7 tortoises, cleaned out my clothes closet (I do not share with my husband) to give to our local thrift shop, and we put up our table top Christmas tree. We got a table top because we have two 8 month old Brittany's who are like toddlers and our youngest son and is wife are now working and living in Geneva. Christmas will be hard this year. My quilt shop and class keep me busy along with my GF and other projects. Hopefully I can have my shoulder replacement soon so I can return to my RN job. Have a wonderful, peaceful snowy day.
Check out Kim Komando’s website, she discussed this Microsoft problem with onedrive yesterday
Glad the snow it staying south of the border for now. Lovin' my first time ever a Bonnie Hunter quilt.
I'm in the St Louis area and always watch the weather. My kids call me weather woman Loraine sorry to see it missed us and you will be socked in for a couple days.
Great idea with the plastic! My grandmother had those glass rectangle containers in her kitchen! I have some but keep my eye out for the clear glass ones. Love them!
Ugh!! SEW sorry to hear about your file woes. A good friend of mine lost an ENTIRE novel that was ready for final edits. Computers are wonderful/terrible things.
feeling your pain on computer issues... hope you can recover successfully!
So sorry about the loss of your pictures and files. Something like that is so frustrating. Nancy A: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
Sympathies. Been there, done that, hated that. Sympathies.
I too will wait till the ordering frenzy is over. Thanks for all that you do, honestly I don't know how you do it.
Love the chance to win your book & pattern..... Crock-pot dinner sounds great. Putter as bit, then sew up some strings......The snow is pretty as long as you can stay in where it's warm. Best to you, thanks for brightening my day.
MaryAnn
Thanks, Bonnie, I was wondering the same thing! I spent today cleaning "stuff" in one room, found a box my Mom gave me years ago, filled with EVERY letter I ever sent her....the world stopped for an hour or so...cannot throw it away....think I need to sew....
I had that happen to years of genealogy research and had to start from scratch...so sorry for you! On the up side at least you have a clean cupboard!!!
Who am I to tell you what to do?? That's what my kids are for, and why would I want anyone else to feel the way my kids make me feel when they have to correct my mistakes??
♡Hot tubs are the best when the snow is falling on your head!♡
I'm so sorry for your troubles. I hope it gets resolved in a quick and painless way. You are an amazing asset to our sewing and quilting community. Thank you for that.
Your blog is a fabulous read into your life, shows how damn busy you are, not a minute wasted, what you give to others in knowledge and time to enjoy/take part in craft as a real learning experience. Love those pics of snow.....living down under, it’s sure not in my backyard.
Beautiful scenery out your windows. Dinner in the crockpot and a little sewing is a great way to spend a snowy day.
No techno blether from me - it's all over my head! My husband likes to advise me and I get an ooh squirrel moment. Or my eyes glaze over and the sage brush tumbles through!
Super snow photos. Brrrr!
We were on the edge of that storm and just missed the snow. Personally if it's going to be this cold I want the snow too! Your place looks beautiful in all that white splendor! Good luck with the recovery (it never happens at a good time!)
I've done some exploratory research on recovery of files, photos, etc. from Microsoft One Drive. My advice is to contact a reliable service to inquire how you can recover your material from One Drive. The data should be with Microsoft for a minimum of 3 days up to a maximum of 30 days. It is so frustrating and just out of my area of expertise! This step might be worthwhile in lessening your headache/ heartache and hours of trying to recreate what you have lost as of this morning. Good News....It's Monday. Businesses should be open for business. Get two or more opinions and then proceed. Bonus Son works for Microsoft, but we are thousands of miles apart. I have a good feeling that your situation will improve later today! And sew it goes.... with love!
Yes, you folks got what my Southern friends referred to as "a big snow"! When I lived in High Point, NC, years ago. I got snowed in by 6" of snow! SIX INCHES!!! I was so depressed! Six inches is just a nice snow fall, here, in the Adirondacks! But, we are prepared for it, under most circumstances. Sorry about your files. Hope you succeed in getting them back!
I love seeing all that snow - and your place looks so pretty! It even sounds pretty while coming down!
Sorry this happened to you, but this site might help you recover your files. Googling recovering deleted files gives several sites that might help you get those files back. Files aren’t supposed to be deleted permanently for 3-30 days depending on your storage use. Good luck and I hope you find a way to recover your files.

they are with the lost socks...
I'll say this, and then shut up. I FEEL your pain in regards to your phone and computer, TRULY!
All we got here on the coast, and continue to get, is a lot of cold rain...bah humbug!
Sorry about the computer issues. I hope you are able to recover your files. I lost a lot of data a few years ago on an external hard drive, so I’ve had a taste of your frustration.
The snow looks so pretty.
The snow is so lovely to look at, but so difficult to deal with! You've had quite the adventure this past weekend!
will try my comment again. Might be computer problem from my system now.
