Oooooh, look!
I opened the door yesterday afternoon to find a box on the doorstep -
I quickly tore into it once I saw who the sender was – my advance copies of String Frenzy showed up!
Oh. My. Goodness!
It’s like Christmas!
With hands shaking, I removed the filler paper from the top of the box and lifted out my copy – It’s here. It’s in my hands.
And oh, that delightful aroma of fresh ink on new paper! Click to Play:
It’s still a couple of weeks away - the big shipment of books coming by Yellow Freight on a pallet the week after Thanksgiving, so we can start sending them out.
Pre-orders are a problem when they come in and people have questions while I am out on the road with no time to answer them, look them up, edit them, cancel them, change them, questions, questions, questions.
Remember – this is supposed to be a DECEMBER release and we are well in time with that. Look for pre-orders to start around the time our first Good Fortune clue lets loose! I will be here to handle the influx then.
AND Don't forget you will be receiving a FREE pdf pattern with String Frenzy purchase from the Quiltville Store, direct to your inbox - not available anywhere else! It's worth the wait, I promise!
Xing!
But until then I’m giving you a quickie preview before heading out to the airport – just to whet your appetite!
There are 12 quilts in the book – and I will do a “What’s in the book” Trunk Show post when we start pre-orders. I’ve chosen just a few pages for this post.
Emerald City!
Just wait until you see the up close photos!
Day Break!
Silver Linings!
I’ll still be sewing from all of those for quite a long while!
Sand Castles – with an added dedication.
So much life happened in the making of these 12 quilts, in the writing of this book far beyond the technical directions. Mark, this one is for you my brother. And all of the memories we made together running on the beaches at Santa Cruz during our growing up years.
I miss you every day.
String Frenzy & Quilt Now bundle up for grabs!
While at the Birmingham Quilt Festival in England in August, I picked up a couple of favorite issues of UK’s #1 quilting magazine, Quilt Now. One of them had MY interview in it – (What can I say, I needed a copy to bring home!) If you’ve always wanted to check out Quilt Now but didn’t think you could find it here – they are also now at a few select news stands like Barnes & Noble, and at some Joann’s! You can also pick it up online at http://www.moremags.com/
I’ve noticed that the magazines also usually include a bonus. The issue with my interview had a 6 1/2’’ square rotary ruler in it, and this issue has a wonderful bag pattern including all of the fixings and findings to complete the project. NICE!
I’m leaving for the airport so enough dawdling – Let’s get down to this thing!
SOMEONE is going to win the very first gift-away copy of my new book String Frenzy AND the Quilt Now issue complete with bag pattern and the metal bits to make it happen!
Will it be you?
Quiltville Quote of the Day.
Hexagon quilt found in North Carolina.
And yes, it’s been a tough year in many ways – but oh so good in so many others.
It’s all part of the process!
Off to the airport – have a wonderful Thursday, my friends!

Definitely going on my Christmas list! unless of course I win here!!! haha Safe travels on your last teaching gig of the year.
Looks like a real fun book !
Book looks awesome! I’ve been quilting vicariously thru Bonnie because my eyes have been too bad t sew! I have a huge stash languishing in my sewing room, beautiful machines to sew on and nit able to see to sew. Magazines have been helping as I can see them for shirt bursts if time. Hope I win!
This one is definitely going on my wish list, it looks Fantastic! Happy and safe travels to you :)
Book look awesome, added to my wish list.
So exciting! Happy for you as your new book rolls out.
Sand Castles - I really enjoyed watching that one come together as you were working on it and posting about your progress. I'm not sure I ever caught the name before today, or maybe this is the first time you're sharing it. It's stunning, definitely a quilt I hope to make at some point, and I've been looking forward to that pattern being ready for release. Excited to see it in the new book! The dedication is lovely.
Looking forward to the whole book, and sitting down to pore through the pages during the cold winter months ahead.
The book is BEAUTIFUL Bonnie! The work of a quilting genius who also happens to have a beautiful heart and spirit! ❤️ I don't purchase many quilting books, mostly magazines, but String Frenzy is at the top of my Christmas wish list this year!
You are an amazing designer and I’m inspired by each quilt you create! Thank you for starting me on my scrappy journey!!
You are so hard working and so very generous... thank you for the opportunity!
I saw Sand Castles in the planner--I knew that it was one I must do! I'm thinking it will be my first project from the new book. Thanks for the chance for an advance copy.
last summer i was working on green stri4rngs... i had an idea for a green quilt! Well, after i made a few and cut a few and worked around and was very unhappy with the 'look' -- Lo... Lo and behold you came out with a sneak peak of Emerald City... i've been waiting most patiently (not really) for that book and now I only have a little bit longer What a thrill and sense of accomplishment for you to hold the finished product in your hands... Congratulations on another 'launch', xo Cats in Carlsbad
I would love to add this to my Bonnie library!
Thank you for much Activity!
Sand Castles s my favorite out of the photos I’ve seen. I loved watching it come together as you were working on it on quiltcam. It is even more special seeing you dedicate it to Mark! What wonderful memories! Maybe that’s why I love it so much and didn’t even realize it...I hate the beach, but I loved making sand castles as a child and with my children. Can’t wait to make that one!
Recently when your name came up in a LQS, the shopowner quickly jumped up to say, "You know she doesn't make all those quilts herself. She hires people to make them for her." I was shocked, and I don't even know why she felt the need to make that pronouncement. Since this was during a shop demo, I was not in a position to correct her, but I made sure those around me knew she was wrong adn that you most certainly do make your quilt. All they have to do is follow your blog to see it happen! I know there are other quilt designers who design and don't make all their designs themselves -- to each their own -- but, Bonnie, I know you do because you have explained to us how often you make units for fun without a plan of what they will ultimately end up being. We watch you make these quilts and we learn so much in the process. Keep doing what you do!! AND hubby has already been given the info on when and how to order your new book as my Christmas gift. LOL
OH WOW! I would love to win a copy of your book - have been wanting to make a scrap Civil War quilt and this would be perfect! Thanks for the give away!
Wow. That Emerald City quilt looks fabulous. Can't wait to get the book and check that one out.
Ohhhhh, my next new book!!!!!!! I can't wait!

Don't you wish that 'new book' smell stayed forever? It's like the 'new car' smell. I can never get enough. :)
I would love to win a copy of your book before I could buy it. I have all of your others and have made a few of your designs. Love all you do for us .

Congratulations on the release of your book "String Frenzy". Looks like it will have exciting quilts to make. Can't wait to see it.
Love all of these Quilts you have posted from your new book. My favorite so far was Sand Castles. I grew up during my High School years in San Jose California and I too used to go to Santa Cruz. Loved the ocean and boardwalk. Thank you, can't wait to get my copy.
