Is it possible to have too much fun during a class day?
I certainly hope not because this day was full of wonderful folks – both those I knew, and had yet to meet and this is the way our circle of life increases!
The story goes that a group from Utah met some other gals who had been here last year, and they decided to join in on the fun.
Not only that – but could you even guess that I am standing here with two mother/daughter teams?
I LOVE THIS! Mothers and daughters as friends sewing together!
Thank you ladies for coming all the way to Pennsylvania, dealing with jet lag and strange surroundings and coming to spend a few days playing in the scraps. I hope you enjoy our cooler temps, and the green green of summer in these parts!
The whole crew and then some – me!
So happy to be here with these folks!
Joining in on an all-important webbing demo!
Pressing matters between friends Missy & Sue!
Loving this combo!!
Sew like the wind!
Chain, chain chaining and waiting to press!
Friends stitching with friends – ideas are swirling!
And that’s the way the blocks come together!
Before we knew it, class was over and we were moving tables and setting up chairs and getting ready for the evening's lecture!
Straits of Mackinac as backdrop!
We are getting ever closer to this book release. Because this was a driving trip I was able to bring some special quilts with me , including a few of my favorites from my upcoming String Frenzy book. I also brought both of my son’s hexagon quilts – one a top, one still in the hand quilting process, hoop still in place.
We talked about stories in quilts, and to do more than just look at the quilt as an object – but as a timeline of the hours and hours the maker put in it, and the things the fabrics may hold as memories recorded for the person doing the stitching. Such a fun evening!
I was home at Mary’s by 10pm and straight to bed. And today we do it again – a SURPRISE class up on deck. No one knows what they are making – but I do!
Just wait and see – because there is a digital pattern coming of the class we are doing today. I’ll have a room of 50+ beta testers at hand to make sure I get it right.
Release date to happen SOON, so stay tuned!

We must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to simply utter words, but to live by them.

Wonderful lecture last night about putting fabric in your quilts to “tell your story”. Also, I enjoyed how your strip system worked in all your quilts. You’re the best.
I am so jealous of those lucky quilters in class with you today... enjoying a brand new Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt!! Just the best way to spend a Sunday!
Oh, that gray and white block with the black points and yellow center...I’m swooning!
Looks like fun! So many beautiful blocks!
Love the Straits of Mackinac, Bonnie! Is it published in one of your books?
Bonnie, I hope to be able to attend one of these classes. I do have one little problem though. I know the ads defer costs but I am getting a Stayfree ad popping up every 5 seconds. I close it and there it comes again. Can you please limit the number of times an ad comes up? It is making reading the blog very hard and is extremely annoying. I have no problems with ads but they should only show once. Oh, and I never buy anything from a pop up ad. They annoy me and I make a point to purchase products that do not use this type of advertising. T
hank you.
Today, August 26 I celebrate 45 years of wedded bliss wilth my husband, Rick. He is my strength and my comfort.
He always encouragese me. He enables me to come to Bonnie's workshops to learn and to be with "my people".
Rick, thank you for all you do and all you are.
Beautiful pics of beautiful blocks, looks like such a fun day was had by all and looking at all the beautiful blocks on the floor productive too. Wish I was there, one day may be, have fun with the mystery quilt everyone.
Quilty hugs
Anne
Enjoyed seeing all the blocks! However, the first picture with the mother/daughters made me look at the pattern differently. One daughter used black strips rather than white making the pattern look very different. What a joy to see how things are when changed just a bit!! Loved it.
It looks like so much fun! I love that blue quilt (Straits of Mackinac) and can't wait for your book to be released!
