For anyone of MY generation, the title line of this post will get you gyrating and singing along, leaving you an ear-worm that will last throughout the day!
If it doesn’t ring a bell, it is likely that you didn’t grow up when Rocky Horror Picture Show was all the rage.
Growing up in San Jose (shown here as we were taking off for Atlanta yesterday) and being one of the consummate drama/choir geeks and loving all performing arts, going to Rocky Horror, and knowing all the come backs and lyrics, motions and actions - what can I say? It was who we were. It was what we did.
And as we flew up toward the clouds, and I looked back over the city through my little plane window, I realized just what a time warp this was, 40 years later. 40 years. Where have they gone? It’s been 40 years since I was 16.
And that time warp part? It also applies to this morning – when back in North Carolina, 7:30am definitely felt like 4:30am – I rolled back over and went back to sleep.
On the outskirts.
I always loved these hills and mountains in March. Almost every other time of the year, the slopes around the bay area are golden brown. Also a beautiful sight all their own, dotted with the green of gnarly live oak trees casting shadows across the amber landscape. But green. Oh, how I love it when it is green!
Yesterday’s departure from Asilomar at 7:30am – wow. Waiting at the shuttle stop with my 2 bags, my backpack and a quick breakfast I had grabbed from the little mart in the lodge – the place was a ghost town. It will be a few weeks before the NEXT session of Empty Spools Seminar kicks off with a whole new slate of instructors, students and fabulous classes. But yesterday, I felt like the only one on the planet other than this guy.

Not long after this, breakfast barely swallowed while waiting on the bench, my shuttle showed up and whisked me away. Two years until I'll be back. It seems like forever away, but I know that time will fly. Time has a way of doing that.
Hexie stitching on the 2 hour drive to SJC airport.
There was a LOT of time for hexie stitching. The last stitches for the day were put in as we were finally descending toward Greensboro, NC. Time Warp!
One funny:
THIS SHIRT!
While deplaning in Atlanta and standing behind a tall guy in line, I nearly exclaimed: "I've got that fabric!" He was wearing a shirt I had recently deboned! LOL! What’s not to love about a great orange stripe?
And I picked up THIS.
With 1 1/2 hours to spare before departure, I often find myself wandering airport gift shops. This caught my eye. I am forever laying down my phone or my keys and forgetting where I put them. Will this solve my problem? It's costing me $29.95 to find out! Do any of you have one of these? Any hints or suggestions? I like that the replaceable battery will last up to 6 months.
Today I’ll see if I can figure out what to do with this. I could have used it a couple of weeks ago BEFORE The Hubster lost the remote to the living room sound bar. I keep hoping it will turn up eventually. I mean, really? WHERE could it go?
Oh, and for the woman who emailed to ask if I had “FORGOTTEN” to do the Quilty-Box drawing: NO. But with evening programs and events non-stop at Asilomar, I just put it off in my head until I was home to do it when I wasn’t so pressed for time. Those entries aren’t going anywhere –they aren’t going to disappear! I switched gears and said that we’d do it this morning, so let’s not delay!
Out of 3939 entries we are looking for:
Entry #932 Sandy Buczynski!
Entry #3224! Debra Owens!

Today – oh, today. I’m barely moving. I’ll be slowly getting mail order out the door – all of the stuff that came in while I was gone will be taken care of through the weekend, and I’ll be ready to fly to Chicago on Monday. Yes. I am that nuts.
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
I'd like to think the things I do will outlast me in one way or another. This applies not only to my stitches, but to my family, and friendships.
Do ONE thing today that will outlast you.
Tomorrow: Show & Share photos from Asilomar. SO many to edit and make ready. You'll love it!

More birdies - lucky me! What a gorgeous colour! And the scenery - wow!
All the kindness, your teaching and patterns will also outlast you! Thank you, always. Liz
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I spent much of a summer listening to nothing but Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack while designing our high school yearbook. LOVE it. (It's just a jump to the left...)
I know! I love the birds, too! I'm missing those little bouncy sanderlings today.
Thank YOU, Liz!
Hahahahaha!
I didn't get to go see Rocky Horror Show when it was New. Thanks for the Earworm anyway! Take a rest-up day to catch up your body clock in your time Zone. This weekend is time to Spring our clocks forward. That's one less hour to quilt for me. LOL
I hope you can get some rest, and your area is not hit too bad by the storms. We had a bad one yesterday and last night, but back to normal today. We have Red Polls, Boreal Chick-a-dees, and Northern Nuthatches to keep us company. An occasional Gray Jay and Stellar jay visit, but that is all. Congrats to the Quilty Box winners!

Bonnie,
At our house we use the TILE devices to locate missing items. It was a life saver when I decided to throw the trash and my car keys into the trash upon coming home from work.
I am sure your new item will come in handy. Enjoy some good rest this weekend.
I loved reading this post.. How funny. My husband and I watched The Rocky Horror Show again only last week. It makes us laugh. There were bits in there we couldn't remember seeing any of the other times we watched it. Memory Lane is wonderful.
Do you wonder if the remote got shipped off in a package? LOL!
When I was 16, my family and I spent 6 weeks in San José. My mom was selected by her school district to attend a specialized workshop on media techniques. She had been a junior high English teacher but was chosen to be the media specialist for the district. It was our first time in California. We lived in southern Wisconsin, so this trip was a wonder for us. It was like a foreign country! This was 1966, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I'm sure you miss it.
Oh, Bonnie, you and I are pretty much the same age, and some times it amazes me that I have adult-age memories that are nearly 35 years old. How is that possible? Clearly, I have no real sense of how old I am.
And thanks for the ear worm. My sister and I had so much fun at the midnight showing of Rocky Horror. I know "little kids" were insanely jealous". That was back when six years made a huge difference--we had privileges and led the way. You surely know how that goes, right?
One of our sons gave my husband one of those locator things for Christmas one year. It wwasn't for keys or phones. It was for his misplaced coffee cup! All went well until he left it on the cup when he microwaved the coffee to reheat it.Now, he has to search again!!
I loved viewing the sanderlings and all birds. They are such a treat everyday!!
Thanks for your daily inspiration!
I saw the RHPS DVD at the library a few years ago, and thought oh I'll show my kids this - it's such a fun movie (my boys were 16 and 14 at the time). I had forgotten all about the transvestite dancing and when we got to that part in the show my boys looked at me and said - mom - you're showing us this?!?
Remember throwing bread at the screen? Lol
My son got the key finder for my car keys.I haven't lose my keys since Christmas.Maybe that,s how it works.lol
Have wondered how you deal with the changes in time. I would be a zombie like old lady!
During the packing to move, i have found great UFOs.. that will be my quilting for much of the Summer. Can't wait to you more quilts from our Bonnie.
Relax, snuggle with sweet SadieJane, who no doubt misses you so very much.... keyword is RELAX

just waned to say thank you for everything you do...you are a bright shiny inspiration!
There you go, beginning palate for a "mystery" quilt. Blue-bird, golden-hills of San Jose, orange-shirt, sanderlings- neutral..... to be continued.
I love to read what's happening in your world. I especially LOVE when you write about San Jose, because I also grew up there. My younger sister probably attended the same midnight showings of RHPS with you. It was one of her favorite activities.
