Please accept this photo post without words, as I just can’t find the words to express how much we loved this man, and how much we miss him already.
And yet I am so grateful for the joy and happiness of seeing so many people that we haven’t seen in 16 to 25 years. Relatives, close and distant, old family friends, friends my children knew when they were very young. It’s been overwhelming.
I do believe one of the most important tasks we are given as humans is to bear one another’s burdens and lift each other up.
Thank you for lifting me.

Huge lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Loved all the sentiments and photos. I think the fishing vignette is what got to me most. Something he loved to do and shared with his boys and their families. Hugs all around and prayers continue. Allison C Bayer, Plano Texas USA

Words were not needed, this shows to us all the funeral and celebration of life for a man who was and still is loved and respected. Choked me up and brought tears to my eyes, the same reaction I always have when the Patriot Riders go into their prayer circle then leave our parking lot in formation to escort a veteran to their final resting place.
Gods peace and love to you and your family as you reconcile with the missing part of your lives.

What a joyful send off. I read with great happiness about the brothers sharing time and energy to show their love for their father at the end of his life. Not every family does that and it shows how great the man to raise his children so that they cared for him. The friends and other family expand the awe he deserves. The veteran sent off with military honors another facet of his life. Take joy in the wonders of his life and the send off he was given.
More is said without words... Loved the pics! Hugs to you Bonnie!! ~Merri
Bonnie - I am glad your family could give your father-in-law a loving send off. It is bittersweet to gather for that particular reason, but lovely to see all the family and friends that can attend. Thinking of you and your family. Take care...

Bonnie, my heart is with you and Dave and your family. As many have said, what a beautiful tribute. This past Wednesday was the anniversary of my mother's death. I spent many hours remembering our lives together and missing her. But those memories, they keep our loved ones alive in our hearts.

What a lovely photo tribute to your father-in-law...sending hugs and prayers for comfort to you. I lost my father just over a year ago, and know the mixed emotions you feel about being happy for him, yet missing him so much! I agree with Tom Brokaw in calling them the "Greatest Generation"-- they are unsung heroes and we owe so much to them!
Much love to you!
Sandy in Salt Lake City
