Our Great China day couldn't have been any better!
Blue skies, very little haziness, temperatures just perfect and plenty of sunshine! I know this is not the usual experience but we will take it!
I always wanted a photo of my feet on the Great Wall and this is five times better. The five of us took the Steep side and went up more than 400 feet in elevation climbing uneven steps helping each other, encouraging each other to get to the highest point we had selected.
My ladies taking a breather as we reach a flatter spot after a grueling climb.
One of the fun things about being an Anglo in Asia especially if you have light-colored hair, is the invitation to jump into people's family photos as a good luck charm!
We did plenty of this and gratefully. Babies were fawned over and smiles were returned, everyone on their own journey to the top.
Yes, there is going to be even much more documentary binge-watching Upon Our return home
The autumn colors were just gorgeous!
Mile high smiles!
Definitely a trip of a lifetime!
I think this is my favorite shot, and I can't believe I did it all with my phone.
We did it! I put my feet on the Great Wall along with several others I have come to love along this journey! It binds us!
China, you are beautiful beyond measure. You have so much to teach us all!
A very hard climb, over 16,000 steps this day. But I learned so much about myself in the process. You really can do it one step at a time.
All of us!
I took this photo of the in side of the Wall of China. Typical as with monuments like this everyone has wanted to leave their mark over the years and I wondered at the names that had been carved into these stones, and thought about the hands who had grasped the rail to help pull themselves up each step of the way.
There is always a rail or someone to give you a hands up. We just have to look for them!
Today is a much easier day - our Workshop continues at 10 a.m. followed by a foot massage and an acrobatic performance as we stay closer to our hotel today.
Much love from Beijing,
Bonnie

I can see why you love that photo with all the autumn leaves. But I also like the one with your arms outstretched and the wall is echoing your left arm!
Super photos and such an achievement - well done to all. I can understand your elation because I felt the same when I reached my destination point up one of the Glencoe mountains and I was quite a chubster at the time (still am). But you did it! WOOOOOT WOOOOOOT!
Thank you for sharing it all with us.

Love following your travels Bonnie and wish safe journey and much happiness. Looks like an amazing trip and makes me wish I was there. So maybe I'll dig out some oriental fabric today and make a Chinese lantern block.
I tried to think of how to appreciate such an awesome adventure and all I can say is WOW!

Walking on the Great Wall is on my bucket list! Tell me, how many flights of steps did you get on your fitbit??
This brings back memories of a trip to China in 1993 with People to People Citizen Ambassador Program, also in the fall. I was new to trifocals and unsure of my steps when it was time to go down from the highest point we had reached on the Great Wall. A couple of Chinese ladies helped me, and, yes, I have fair skin and light hair and they invited me into a group photo.
A couple of times when I tried to get to the Quiltville blogspot for Good Fortune clues, I landed on what appears to be a Fifth Grade's homepage on Weebly. That's weird, not only for being the wrong page, but because a student page like that is most likely programmed to be private. Clicking on their "Home" brings me to the part of Quiltville that explains how to participate on Mondays. Has anyone else had this experience?
