Color is happening!
It’s still a couple of weeks until things are supposedly “at peek” And it doesn’t help that it was raining as I landed, but my heart can smile as colors emerge!
I flew into Syracuse, was picked up by Roberta and I enjoyed the somewhere-around-an-hour drive from Syracuse of Utica. The trees along the side of the Thruway were putting on their best color, and it will only get better as the days go by.
It was an uneventful and very quick trip, even if it meant getting up at 4am to leave the house by 5am. And I knew in the back of my head that it was okay to be a bit tired. It was just a “get there” day – and there would be an afternoon nap in m future! There was no way to nap on the flight, I was too excited!
Stormy lake as we land!
A bit of lunch, a bit more driving and we were pulling up front of the Hampton Inn in Utica – and you could tell there were quilters here already – just check out the license plates! Oh, this is going to be fun!
And then – that nap. Nearly 3 hours! Oh boy. Thank you. I never am able to sleep the night before a trip, so this was playing make up for what I missed the night before and it left me the evening free for some of this:
Some stitching and trimming!
Some block assembly on Roberta’s borrowed featherweight!
These blocks have been sitting since JUNE. It’s time to get the put together and do something with them. Since this project is all cut out and kitted up and travels easily, this will be my teach & travel project until they are finished.
YES!
This morning we jump right in with a Texas Tumbleweed workshop from More Adventures with Leaders & Enders. There will be a ton of stitch n flip fun! And bonus triangles!
It’s also a double-duty day with my guild presentation tonight. Busy Busy Busy!
But it feels good to be back in the saddle!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
Vintage nine-patch quilt found in North Carolina.
Listen to that voice within. It really does know you better than you think!
Let’s tackle this Tuesday!

Hey. What? Wait? You are close to me and I didn't know? Bummer. I'm really missing out. I didn't really check your teaching schedule because I didn't think you would even be close to me. Have fun, make sure to eat some Riggies and Greens. Hope to take a class from you soon.
Traced my Swartwout ancestors to Utica and Syracruse, maybe some of them were quilters. LOL
It is beautiful there for sure, your pictures are wonderful. Glad you got to rest before you go again. Have fun!!
My daughter goes to school at Colgate University right between Syracuse and Utica. It is so pretty there! Enjoy your stay in NY!
