Along with this morning's post, I've got an article on the C&T blog today! My article on squaring corners and trimming up sides of a quilt before binding. Come see how I do it! http://www.ctpub.com/blog/straight-and-square
Fall in the Northeast is glorious.
Even before leaves start turning colors, other changes are evident.
Humidity is down, the sun takes on a lovely glow as one season turns slowly into another. The humidity has dropped to the point that windows can be left open where gentle September breezes lightly waft curtains as it brings fresh air inside.
On our way to set up for the guild meeting, we had a bit of time and spotted a local farmers market. Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
I love looking at beautiful produce, especially when the early evening is lovely and still gently warm.
And one of the fun things for me? Listening to the vendors talk to their clients. Honey, you’re not in North Carolina anymore! The Northeast dialect of Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Massachusetts surrounds me and I smile.
Honeycrisp Apples are in season! THE BEST!
Tina makes her purchase and my mouth is watering already.
Fall mums in the sunshine.
Patty Pan squash! I love their shapes.
So many varieties of tomatoes, gloriously red!
And they have Carolina Gold!
Spuds and more!
And the colors inspire!
Some of the best quilt palettes come from nature itself. Look at these red onions, yellow spagetti squash, dark green acorn squash and butternut squash. Couldn’t you just go right to your stash and whip up a beautiful quilt from this photo alone?
Afterwards, we had just enough time to walk along the sea wall in Narragansett before heading over to set up chairs for the meeting ahead.
So beautiful!
It’s been four years since I was here the last time, and it was the perfect late afternoon/early evening to stretch our legs, take a walk and people watch as we chatted.
I remember this!
And the view beyond.
I caught a little bit of the surf in this video:
Classic chevy on our way back!
Beautiful Narragansett!
It was a full house at the September meeting of the Ninigret Quilters.
President Tina Craig takes charge!
What a great turn out!
And the quilts from the Addicted to Scraps book are in the house!
It as a fun evening sharing all of the new quilts and getting to know these ladies. And it’s going to be a busy two days of workshops ahead. Both workshops are full to capacity with 50 students each day. They are big into scrap quilting in Rhode Island. It’s going to be a great couple of days ahead!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
I live by the Serenity Prayer. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. And sometimes the courage to let things go.
Vintage Star quilt found in Texas.
Have a Wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

Got my book in today's mail. So excited. It looks beautiful. Gotta go now. Have to read it. Kitty
Bonnie, enjoy Rhode Island. I grew up in Cranston, RI (just outside of Providence) and miss the change of seasons. I also spent many summers at the beaches in Narragansett. If you get a chance, have someone take you to Point Judith to get clam cakes. They are probably better in my memory than they really are but we did enjoy them as kids! I've been away from RI for over 41 years and haven't been back to the area in close to 20. My dad was a wholesale produce dealer and worked with all the local farmers. I have fond memories of all the fresh produce. Enjoy your stay!
The only thing missing is the smell of the ocean air as you listen to the water rush onto the rocks.
I'm from Massachusetts but have lived outside Atlanta for 17 yrs now. Thank you for including a video of the surf. I needed that this morning! ♡
