Barcelona Bound!

I think we are ready!

All that needs to be done is DONE.

Bags are packed…..oh how I love space bags and their ability to squoosh and smoosh until things are vacuum sealed into submission!

Then they double as laundry bags, keeping clean stuff from dirty stuff until we get home.

8:47 am and I’m sitting here thinking there MUST be something else that needs to be done before we head to the airport around noon…Nope!  There isn’t?  Does that mean I might be able to squeeze in some machine time before we go?

I’ve had loads of questions on “What does webbing a quilt or a block mean?”  There is an article on Webbing the Top found under the tips & techniques tab at the top of the blog.  That should give you a good idea of what it entails. And maybe this photo helps:

Can you see that the quilt is assembled in rows across, with chaining threads left between the rows?  If you envision the quilt not only as rows across, but in columns up and down….you chain column 2 to column one continuously down the length of the quilt.  Then add column 3 to column 2, and 4 to 3, etc….leaving the chaining threads in place.  If the quilt is a large one, such as this, after the rows are assembled, I’ll cut the quilt across the center through the chaining threads and assemble it in two halves.  It’s less unwieldy this way.  Give it a try on a block, and then move on to doing it with a quilt! 

You can even do it successfully with a quilt set with sashings and cornerstones.  The first column is cornerstone/sashing, the second column is sashing/block but as it’s all straight seaming it makes it easy to keep things in order and then blocks don’t go turning themselves around only to be discovered AFTER you’ve assembled the whole thing.

I’m very much feeling the light at the end of a very long tunnel.  It’s been crazy for months on end and I thank you for your patience.  I’ve set up the website for book pre-orders to start as soon as I get back from this trip.  It may happen on the 1st – but we are TRAVELING on the 1st, so don’t be upset if it is the 2nd.

As always with pre-orders, no exact date of shipping is known.  Books are not in the warehouse yet, but are due in sometime in September.  The ruler is scheduled for October.  If you order the bundle, your order will be shipped with BOTH are in house. As always, items on pre-order are shipped in the order in which they are received.  I have two teaching gigs in September, a trip to Rhode Island, and a trip to Delaware.  Shipping will not happen when I am not home, but will pick right back up as soon as I am back from these venues.

I think that’s all the nitty gritty news I have to tell you!  Now I can put these bags in the car.

Those worried about Sadie, Emmy Lou and Chloe being left here alone – please don’t fear!  Our son Jeff is here at home and he is with them before work and after work, just how it would be in any family situation.  Much better than putting them in the kennel while we are gone.  They are loved, they are fed, they are treated, played with and cared for.

However, Emmy sure looked a bit put out at all of the suitcase activity last night!  She pretty much hunkered down out of the way, watching from the corners.

Our itinerary!

Several of our cruisers are already in Barcelona, having arrived there over the past few days.  The reports I’m reading on Facebook have me SO jealous! Our hotel looks wonderful and I can’t wait to meet up with everyone.  Epic doesn’t begin to describe this trip!
