It’s Razzle Dazzle Time!

may_june16_giveaway
There is a special issue of Quiltmaker Magazine just about to hit your mail box!

Inside, along with all of the other beautiful projects you will find my quilt, Razzle Dazzle!

Remember when I went to Plano, TX to teach over New Years?  THIS was our secret class mystery project!

I am so happy that it is now time for me to be able to share it with YOU.  If you are a subscriber, this issue should be on its way to you.  If you aren’t, you’ll find it at your favorite news stand.

Razzle Dazzle started out as a way to use larger hunks of batiks, many that came home from me on a trip to Bali a few years ago.

Razzle Dazzle off the porch!

The little parking sign was painted by my mom as a cabin-warming gift.  Isn’t it great?

While designing Razzle Dazzle I had to keep in mind that this was a ONE DAY mystery, which meant I really couldn’t make it TOO difficult or we wouldn’t get anything done.  To make it easy for students to kit up, I chose two pieces of yardage to play “constant” in this quilt – the grey that you see in the alternate pinwheel blocks and the border is all one piece of yardage.

The peachy-gold star point fabric is also ONE piece of yardage!

It had likely stuck around in my stash since the early 2000s…it’s not gold, it’s not orange, it was just a weird shade that I must have found on sale, and it worked super great here!

I just love this quilt, and I can’t wait for them to ship it back to me!

I had made students “pinky swear” to keep their projects secret until the Magazine release, and this week I’ve been oohing and ahhhing at finishes that are coming into my inbox from students!

I'm not worthy! LOL!

I know there are more in the works, and I will share them as they come in!

This month’s block in my Addicted to Scraps column is called Butterfly Kisses!  This block is found in a vintage quilt in my collection that lives at the cabin.  It’s a favorite sight as it hangs over the loft railing, and silly me, I forgot to get a photo of it so that I could share it here for further inspiration!  As soon as I finish some other “Front burner” projects I have my sight on these.  Just two fabrics per block, and because it is an asymmetrical block, there are many bells and whistles that make this a fun block to play with!

Registration for the current session closes April 4, with two more sessions scheduled for later this year. For more info click HERE and remember to use the code BHSCRAP to save $30 off of the registration fee!

Are you ready for a little Give-Away??

I have THREE issues for THREE lucky winners, and to sweeten the pot, each winner will also receive a Summer Breeze charm pack by Moda!

I leave Sunday morning for Chicago.  It’s another long-ish trip as I go from Chicago straight to Wichita to teach there before I get home again.  I’m thinking we’ll start this now, draw for the winners on Sunday evening from Illinois, and then the winners will have their goodies shipped to them upon my return home!

Sounds good?  Let’s DO it!

Remember that there is Quilt-Cam tonight at 9pm Eastern!  I’m eager to show you what I’ll be working on as I finally have a solution on where to go next with a UFO – Remember those H blocks?  I’ll see you at 9pm here on the blog.  Remember to look for the Quilt-Cam post at the TOP of the main blog page, you will not find it under the archives until I put it there after Quilt-Cam is over.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Sometimes we need to guard our conversations. Are we talking about our problems more than we are our blessings? Turn it around, the blessings are everywhere!

I love this quilt! I recently subscribed to Quiltmaker and I hope I did it in time to get this issue. If not, I'll have to buy one because I want this pattern. Looking forward to Quilt Cam tonight too!

Pulled Quiltmaker out of the mail box last night after work. Looked through it while getting ready for bed. Made Butterfly Kisses this morning-sweet block! Looking at whether or not to start Razzle Dazzle or finish a UFO first! :o) Waiting for tonight!

What a great design. Looking forward to seeing it in the magazine. Your students did wonderfully as well...and what good sports to keep it hush-hush.
I've been enjoying the quotes and the quilts they've been posted on.
Yay for quilt-cam tonight. Have Allietare on my long arm ready to quilt so will bring the laptop in there to watch while I quilt.

Yay! We can finally talk about Razzle Dazzle!! Always fun to be in your mystery classes. After sewing with friends today I stopped by Not Your Momma's Quilt Store in Plano, TX to visit before their Grand Opening Friday. I showed the owner Razzle Dazzle and she took my picture for their show and tell board. Looking forward to QuiltCam tonight to you sew with you! Thank you for your continued creativity and enriching my quilting world. Hugs, Allison
