Quilting, and a Craftours Cocoon!

20160107_132641-1
I finished the quilting on this quilt yesterday, that still remains NAMELESS!

Isn’t that terrible?

Usually the name for a quilt comes along during the making of it, but with this one? NADA!

I’m sure it will come to me – I’ve just had so many other things on my mind that maybe I haven’t listened to the quiet voice radiating from this wonderful mess of scraps to listen to what it wants to be called.

If this were YOUR quilt – what would YOU name it?

I look at the texture of the quilting on top of all of those little bits of memories and I just feel HAPPY!

I am teaching at a very special Craftours Cocoon in Naperville, IL April 3-7, 2016!

What is a Cocoon?  Think of it as a comfortable place to learn and expand your horizons with 4 days of instruction from 4 internationally known teachers, authors and lecturers!

Imagine that this Cocoon is presented in the beautiful surroundings of a first class hotel, the Marriott in Naperville!

If you don't like to fly overseas, if you don't like to cruise -- this is a Stateside Stay-cation tailor-fit for you!

Along with Master Classes by 3 other word renowned instructors --you can plan on a Midnight Flight workshop with me!

Class information and supply list found under the Lectures & Workshops tab at the top of the blog HERE.

PACKAGE INCLUDES:
The cocoon starts on a Sunday night and continues through the week until Thursday evening. We will feature four “master” instructors for each cocoon event, and the week will be filled with an extraordinary opportunity to participate in something very, very special. Our Craftours Cocoon™ will not only offer four master workshops taught by incredibly talented instructors, but you can also enjoy informative presentations & lectures, exhibits, shopping, receive special gifts, participate in fun & games, and have a chance to win some free trips.

The event will also feature the use of brand new Janome sewing machines, and include four nights accommodations at the Chicago Marriott Naperville, daily breakfast, two special dinners, and more!

The price of this amazing weekend: $889.00 per person based on double occupancy.  Bring a friend! Payment due in full at sign up.

Space is limited and based on first come-first served. Single rooms are available for an additional $325.00pp.

EXTEND YOUR TOUR:
Our cocoon takes place just prior to the Quilt Festival in Rosemont, Illinois (April 7 - 9, 2016), if you would like to be able to enjoy the Quilt Festival, you can extend your stay up to 3 additional nights for the incredible price of $92 per person, per night. These additional nights include taxes and breakfast each day.

I have had many many requests from those who live near by asking if they could attend the workshops and the evening events, but sleep at home in their own beds.

While the "Stay at the Marriott" all inclusive price is $887.00 I can see why those who live near by would want to stay at home and save their money for FABRIC! And Notions! And other quilty goodies --

So for those who LIVE within the Naperville area who want to come to this event, we have a "sleep at home" deal for you!

The workshops, the lectures and evening events will be included in your Local-Student registration of $664.00. You sleep at home, you eat breakfast at home, and then you come play!
For more information, visit my Craftours Page HERE.

I can't wait to see you in Naperville, IL in April!  Be sure to tell the folks at Craftours that you read about here from me when you register!

To make your reservations call us at 815-663-4046, toll free at 877-887-1188 or submit your reservations online.

For additional questions regarding airfare, transfers, insurance, pre-night packages, or our convenient payment plan, please call our toll-free number or use our contact form.

And with that, I'm packing up the van and heading to South Carolina this morning.  Wonder of wonders, my route takes me all the way down I-85 right past the Cox Rd exit and the home of Mary Jos in Gastonia, NC.

I think I'll need to make a pit stop!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

“The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”

The quilt is Crabapples from my book Adventures with Leaders & Enders.

I've suggested this before, but since you asked, if this were my quilt, I'd name it "Stringin' on a Star." Now I've got Bing Crosby in my ear again! If/when I make this quilt, that will be my name for it.

How about String of Memories? And I'd love to live anywhere close to be able to take one of your classes!! Have a fantastic weekend, Bonnie.

You have not used your name in any quilt name....like "Bonnie's....." Or "........a la Bonnie". This would be a good time to use your name in the title. This quilt shows your love of scrappiness, your use of crumbs and liberated piecing in the middles, your string piecing, everything you love! So I am thinking I would name it something with your name included in the title.

Have fun in South Carolina! How I wish I could be at your workshop, but I could not get out of work.......

Whirlygig! With the texture from the quilting and the way the string blocks appear to twist my first thought was of a bunch of whirligigs spinning in the wind. Looks like I'm going to be doing some string piecing in the not too distant future.

Star Shards is my suggested name for this quilt. The shards of fabric in the strings made me think of shattered glass. I already made the Midnight Flight so I won't be coming to Chicago.
Wish you were making something Different there so I could come stay with my friend in Shaumburg and go to the Chicago show again. It was so fun last year!
