Jan/Feb Quiltmaker! Give-Away!!

d4675a2a-4919-4341-9716-455042da388e
Heads Up Notice!  There WILL Be Quilt-Cam from the cabin at 2pm Eastern TODAY!

Set your alarms and be ready with a project!  This is the first time I am broadcasting from the cabin, and I’m excited to give it a try!

Those folks at Quiltmaker are really on the ball!

I was astonished to find EARLY copies of the Jan/Feb issue in my mail box…and you know what that means?

They always send some extra so I can pass them on to YOU!

I know, I know, I know – you are whining that you don’t even have the Christmas decorations out yet, and here we are pushing January/February of NEXT YEAR?

I used to feel panicky about that too, but when it comes to quilting, we need TIME to make the things we want to make.

You know what I also love?  February means Spring is right around the corner, and while I constantly try to find things about Winter that I love ((and some things I do)) I am not a big fan of cold and dark and miserably icy.  So anything that brings pink and springy into view is good by me!

What will we find in this issue?

20151123_142153

SO Many Goodies!

I actually went over to the Quiltmaker.com site to see what graphics they had up that I could use for this post – and we are so early there aren’t any!  So this is your sneak preview with the magazine open on top of my cutting table.

20151123_142217

My Addicted to Scraps column!

This month the Addicted to Scraps block is called Folded star.  It’s a 9’’ block ((Yes, we went bigger!))  that comes together easily using half square triangles and combination half square and quarter triangle  units. This is a fun one to play with – and using different light/medium/dark fabric values will give you that 3D folded effect.  If you’ve got some layer cakes around – they are just the right size to use in these blocks!

Some of my favorites from this issue:

20151123_142238

Oh my gosh, so cute!  Family of Three!

20151123_142317

Itty Bitty Blocks turned into pillow covers.

Who can resist foundation pieced log cabins so tiny?

20151123_142345

Be still, my scrappy lovin’ heart!

20151123_142140

My first blog post ever. I got back into quilting in January. Last quilt, oh my, probably 30 years ago. It's been an amazing few months. 6 quilt tops done, 2 of which just got quilted & ready for binding (my soon-to-be first finished quilts); 2 more ready for borders; 6 more started, plus my first try at paper piecing (a BOM); not to mention my ever-increasing "Oh, I'll do this one next" list. I'm having so much fun. I'm definitely hooked! (Although, by the looks of my growing fabric piles, obsessed might be the more accurate word.) I've never done a MQ, but I'm thinking about yours. Guess I'll have to decide pretty quick so I won't be behind. I must thank my sister, Colleen Patterson, for being excited for and with me. She has been quilting for years and encourages me every day to try something new and keep it up. I also thank Kerri Gray for offering quilting classes at Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, OK, for my even thinking I'd like to do a quilt. It was her class the first of the year that started this ball rolling. Colleen loves you, Bonnie. Scrappy is a bit out if my comfort zone. I'm more of a precise, planned kind of gal. I look forward to stretching. I don't know if you really read all these, but thanks, Bonnie, for listening.
