Hello from Quilt Villa!
The Hubster has a bunch of things he wants to work on at the cabin this weekend, so guess where we headed as soon as 50+ book orders were filled and hand delivered to the post office on their way to their new homes?
I almost said “NO – I want to stay HOME.” The weather is nasty – rainy, foggy, drizzly ---but then I thought better. If I go THERE I don’t have to clean HERE –and before I knew it I was throwing my as-yet-unpacked suitcase in the back of the pickup raring to go.
This was our view on our drive up – fog and clouds so low you can’t even TELL that there are mountains in the distance.
While thumbing through my phone on the drive up, I came across Joyce’s emaiil, and I quickly replied to her to see if I could share it with you.
You will be blown away!
She writes:
Hi Bonnie – I have made several of your mysteries, and didn’t want to miss out on this one either. While you have mentioned that several of your readers complained about the size of your quilts, I have taken it to a different level.MINI!!
Your instructions are so detailed that I was able to 1/4 size all the components and made the small version in my size – 19 1/2” square. And yes, I twirled all my 4-patches and did indeed use the Tri-Recs ruler even though I had to add in a new cutting line.

It was a challenge and I enjoyed every minute of it. There were moments when I thought “What if I don’t like the finished quilt?”, but I persevered and I love it! Thank you for all the work you put into creating these mysteries for us.

There is a fire starting in the wood stove downstairs. I’m thinking it will be a great evening for unwinding in jammies with some handwork and a movie.

Oh my! I am dumb-struck! Mini!! I love this quilt, I'm making the 75" square one, still putting rows together, and had my own set of struggles with making things fit together - but I LOVE this quilt and my friends who've seen what I've done so far love, but mini? Oh my, oh my...I don't think mini's for me except to look at and enjoy, lol.

Wow! I sewed two rows of my top together after work while my my husband made dinner tonight. I hope I have the top finished this weekend. Be safe traveling on those wet roads.

Miniatures are my first love so I was thrilled to see Joyce's version of your Mystery quilt. Somehow I doubt I would be able to make it small enough to fit into one of my dollhouses which are 1/4 inch to the foot. One day I may just get up the courage to make one of your masterpieces and label it.

Wow, I love the mini. I'm doing the King size. If I figured right tht means at 3" block became 0.75 finished. I can't begin to figure the sizes you would have to cut everything.

I am always amazed at how talented the "Bonnie Hunter" Fans are. You bring out awesome creativity in everyone.
The Celtic Solstice quilts are beautiful, no matter what their size! I do admire this darling miniature one; it is beyond my abilities to work with such small pieces. I am still working on my two 75" ones, one in Bonnie's suggested colors and one in Christmas fabrics.

Unbelievable! I'm not really into wall hangings, so I can't imagine ever attempting a quilt this complex in such a tiny size unless if I made it as a doll quilt for a very, very special little person. I wonder what the appraised value would be for Joyce's mini quilt.

I tried imagining the sizes... Those are small indeed! It is unbelievable. Don't think it was quicker as the big one though... it must have been even more precise piecing!

I am amazed at how far we quilters will go to make a quilt. This is CRAZY, but I love it! Thanks for sharing. Glad you can spend time in your Cabin. I got all my Blocks made yesterday and went to the Movie The Book Thief with my DH last night. It's always good to go along with them once in a while. Cabin Shenanigans???
Joyce's mini is really amazing.... She is my neice and I am very proud of her.... although I also told her she was crazy! She is a very inspiring quilter in everything she does! Must get these genes from my side of the family??? (not me tho)

This is incredible - I make miniature quilts and it is way more than I would have ever attempted. I am very impressed with her work. It is beautiful.

That is too cute. I am making the king but might dabble in mini too. As a mini quilt fan it is definitely not faster to piece a mini but binding is a breeze.
