I didn’t know they even MADE things like this…but I’m adding one to my
This is a Sunbeam Hot Iron Storage Case.
You simply put your iron in here WHILE IT IS HOT and it is safe to transport home from guild or retreat or sew day with friends….without having to wait for it to cool down!
In fact, I just found them on Amazon on sale for $6.88 ((Plus shipping, not available for amazon prime as it’s an affiliate store, not amazon directly)) and one is on its way to me.
Click HERE for the amazon link.
I also found them at Walmart for $18.96
The inside of the case showing the silicone iron resting places.
Hot Iron Welcome!
Hot Iron resting inside!
Mother’s Day is around the corner. I think we all need one of these, don’t you??
No affiliation – just a very AHA moment when I saw this in use ----

Such a great idea!!! I need one for my curling iron as well! Thanks, Bonnie!!!
This is so cool! or maybe so hot! I need one. Thank you for sharing.
I also saw a cloth one that you can make on a web site with the heat resistant fiber and pad like an oven mitt that fit your iron! either one is super.. ps I really liked the tour of PA, the country side, and the quilt show this time. There is something more out there besides work! thanks!
awesome!!
One of our guild members made one using the heat resistant fiber...works really well...on my to do list!
I have never seen one of these. Must go to amazon and get one.
I made mine and it has a pad for ironing, also --too bad I didnt see this first. :-)
You can also get an iron caddy from Keepsake Quilting. It is item number 9859 and costs 12.99. I have one and I find it great.
Wow! Bonnie, your timing must have been perfect--just at the end of the sale or something, because it is now regular priced on amazon. But that is a great find, thanks for sharing such a handy item.
I made my own Iron Bag, and it it's hot when I'm packing up I just go and run it under cold water... works great!
Hope you have a safe flight home.
I have one and love it. Found it about a year ago at Big Lots or Ollie's Bargain center.
I do like this and was thinking that it would be cool/hot to have a case like this for your straightener hair iron when you travel. I'm always doing my hair last minute and then waiting for the flat iron to cool down enough to pack it in my suitcase.
Probably won't rush out and get one as I rarely travel with a hot iron, but it would be great for you and some of your readers that travel with their quilting a lot. It does put me in mind, though, of your rotary blade sharpener you shared a while back. Do you still have it and how do you like it by now?? I sure use a lot of blades and HATE throwing away.....

That's neat iron carrier. I use a small galvanized bucket to transport my iron. Hot or cold.
I just put the edge of a wash cloth under the part that lifts up then wrap rest around my hot curling iron. Insulates it from stuff in my suitcase. "Cool" idea for iron for quilt getaway.
I found one on ebay for $14.99 free shipping.
Did you know if you run the hot plate of the iron under cool water, it cools it down as if it were never on. I do this all the time when I go to classes. Works like a charm and I can use my money for more fabric rather than an iron caddy. :o)
Great idea! I usually end up wrapping my somewhat cooled iron in a towel for the ride home. This would work much better!
