Lazy Sunday Sneak Preview! Give-Away!

Are you planning on joining me for Quilt-Cam this afternoon at 2pm Eastern?  Bring a project and come sew!

I am still loving my mail this week.

Look what was in the mailbox upon our return from the movies and dinner out yesterday!  It’s the March/April issue of Quiltmaker Magazine ---the one I’ve been waiting for!

First off…you will find Victoria Findlay Wolfe’s wonderful “Star Splitter” cover quilt from her book, 15 minutes of play! ((Available in the Quiltville Bookstore or at a shop near you!))

Doesn’t this quilt just beg you to dig into your crumbs and start playing?

As soon as you can find the magazine in your mail box or on your news stands – you can learn more about V’s techniques and what inspires her.  After that, you are going to NEED THE BOOK!

If this wasn’t enough…..look what’s starting:

My new mystery:  Lazy Sunday!

Lazy Sunday is going to run through 4 issues to completion.  So face the facts – you may as well get a subscription because that’s 4 out of 6 issues this year!

And wait – there’s more!

An article on my use of the Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers, along with great demo photos to help you remember how to use them!

And last but not least:

This issue’s Addicted to Scraps column features a great traditional block called “Betty’s Choice” in greens and neutrals ---which is perfect for the MARCH issue –and St Paddy’s Day!  With the International Quilt Festival of Ireland just around the corner in June, I am getting really pumped up about EVERYTHING IRISH ---I love how this little block turned out, all from my scraps!

So let’s have a little give-away shall we?

Leave me a comment below, and since this is the March issue, and we are talking St Patrick’s Day, and Luck of the Irish – I want you to tell me about a situation you found yourself REALLY LUCKY!  Be creative!  I’m sure you’ve had a stroke of good luck somewhere down the line…tell me about it!  Make it fun!

And since my Birthday is Wednesday, I think it would be really lucky for me to draw our winner on the evening of my Birthday – Wednesday, January 23rd!  Who knows…we might even announce it during Quilt-Cam time!  ((Not sure if there are plans for a birthday dinner out yet – but will let you know!))

Oh, and let's sweeten the deal!  Our lucky winner will also receive a Summer Breeze Charm pack, thanks to the kind folks at Moda --- and I'll even throw in one of my seam guides!

((Thanks to Moda, I have enough summer breeze charm packs for give-aways from here until eternity..LOL!))

Luck o’ the Irish, Everyone!

  1. I met my husband on March 15th and our first date was on St. Patrick's Day. We were married on St. Patrick's Day 3 years later by an Irish judge that gave us a lovely Irish blessing. Neither of us are Irish but the blessing worked as we are still blissfully happy 34 years later! Gail

  2. Hi Bonnie..Well my luckiest moment happened just a few weeks ago. My quilt guild has a monthly block raffle. Make a block of the pattern, put your name in bag and a winner gets all the blocks. I was quietly talking to my friend and not paying attention to what was going on behind me...the ladies were announcing they were ready to draw the names...Whoa...wait!! I didn't sign in yet...so I rush up and enter and put my 2 blocks on the piano and sit back down....It wasn't but 2 minutes later....they called my name!! I won the 14 "Jewel in the Snow" blocks...I am not a "lucky" person, so winning this at the last moment was a shocker...and I was very happy to have the blocks...I remember your trunk show at our guild a few years ago, and thank the day you set me on my path to scrappiness!! What fun you make quilting!! mish in NJ

  5. Happy Birthday Bonnie - so many lucky things to recall once I put some thought into it - I'm lucky I have such wonderful residents to take care of where I work - I'm a CNA at a local nursing home /rehab. I leave work smiling every day.
I'm lucky I held my dream job previous to that for 20 years.
I'm luck a co-worker that ran into my car at work told me about it before I was shocked to see the side of my car was smashed in.... I'm lucky my granddaughter is here enjoying the evening with me and wants to learn to quilt...LIFE IS GOOD!

  6. The luck of the Irish is with me because I married a keeper whose family is Irish. My own luck has shown up on all the wonderful things I've won through the years: a sewing machine, box of fabrics x three and various Quilty supplies. Great fun. I'm looking forward to the next issue of Quiltmaker and your mystery quilt in it. Here's hoping your birthday fulfills all your wishes! Happy day!

  7. Boy, what a Bonnie filled issue of the magazine. I'll have to pick it up! Would be fun to win the drawing, we just moved for a semester and I didn't bring my books or fabrics with me - so I'm starting from scratch again now. Thank you for putting my name in the drawing. Happy birthday Bonnie! and thank you for all the information and excitement that you share with us.

  10. My luckiest day was last winter about this time when I worked as a volunteer at a local cross country ski race "the Spokane Langlauf" at Mt. Spokane. The last prize of the day was a full package of skis, bindings, boots & poles and I WON! I used the skis this past weekend on a ski trip getaway with my DH and friends. Lots of skiing, eating, laughing . . . the best fun of all.

  11. Happy Birthday Bonnie! We are a blended family with 5 children: his, mine & ours. When the kids were younger, all 5 of them were in little league and my hubby was on 2 adult teams. We went to opening day for the kids and there were raffle prizes. The grand prize was a large sports bag that was big enough to hold all the gear. And we won it! What a blessing that was! Hoping to continue that "lucky" streak here...lol. Thank you for the chance to win!

  14. First, Happy Birthday, Bonnie - have a wonderful year! I would love to win these items and that magazine looks the best yet! My lucky story - my Mom and Dad got married on St. Patrick's Day, and I came along a year later, so for that reason, I love St. Patrick's Day.

  18. Well my luck has to do with money. My husband and I married very young (1979) and he got laid off just as our first child was born. We moved out west to get a job. We had no furniture, very little clothing, and slept on the floor. We both worked hard. My husband worked days and I worked evenings, but all our money went to rent. The cost of living was very high out there. I worked at a mini grocery store and had bought a lottery ticket, which was something I never did as we couldn't really afford it. I brought home the ticket and well, to make a long story short we wond $50,000. We were able to move back home, put a deposit on a house, buy a car and put a little in the bank for emergency.

My birthday is tomorrow, the 24th, so winning this would be a great gift.
