iPhone-o-gram! On Grandfather Mountain!

Grandfather Mountain is one of North Carolina's greatest treasures.

We've lived here 4.5 years now---with the mountain a mere 100 miles from my house---and it has taken us this long to make the short pilgrimage to some amazing views!

We walked and hiked and Sadie was in her element, sniffing everything in sight.

This afternoon will involve some sewing---but lunch on the deck and a lazy mountain nap will come first!

We love that beautiful mountain, too and have a home in Asheville. Do you live in that area? Great photos!

I love Grandfather Mountain!!! Did you notice Forest Gump Curve, from the movie. Been there and done that and I'm from Maine.

when we were on that bridge, we could hardly stand the wind was blowing so hard.

Did you know that part of Grandfather is now a State Park...??!! Hiking trails are being revamped and primitive camping should be available by next summer...
Come see us at New river State Park in Ashe County....

When I was a child (and I'm 70 now) we went there and I got about 2 feet out on that bridge and had to turn around. It petrified me. The rest of my family went across and back, but I had to stay on firm ground. It is beautiful, but I was never going to look at that view suspended above it on a swaying bridge! :)

I would have to crawl over that swinging bridge. On second thought...I's never even be able to try!

Many days, I will share your posts with my hubby. Not today - Grandfather Mountain is his favorite place on earth and he will be too jealous! I have never had enough courage to even get close to that bridge. I hope you made it across!

My folks live in NC now, and we attend the Highland games at grandfather mountain every year! We'll be there in a few weeks to attend this year. It really is a beautiful area.

thats awsome news.. when we were there last summer, they were still at odds or at least hadn't done anything about it yet... did the old guy sell out or die.. don't sound right, but i mean no harm, just have known for years he wouldn't sell.... hugs Sherri, from marion, Ill.

WE lived in Salisbury, NC for nearly 10 yrs. Never went to Grandfa. Mtn. DH is afraid of heights. We have done Tweetsie with the kids and even the grands or some of them. It was great fun. There was even a land of OZ up there which was a ski resort in winter.

How funny to hear @ The Land of Oz after all these years! I worked there the summer of '72. Before the park opened, part of my job was to wash the plastic apples hanging in "the forest" & pull the grass out from between the yellow bricks! We had 2 state champion cloggers there who both were the "scarecrow.". What fun it all was! Thanks for the memories!
