Perfect. I'm getting one of these. Since I read your post awhile back about not putting any water in your iron, I've been doing that with great results.
How funny! I just ordered a tablecloth and some raisin biscuits for my mom from The Vermont Country store...will have to check out the irons :-)
I have been using mine for about 3 years. I love it. It is hot, and presses your pieces without stretching and distorting.
I love it. I am tired of all the little holes grabbing my corners lately. I don't fill my irons anyway, I use a squirt bottle, so this would be perfect too.
Just checked with the Vermont Country Store. They are out of stock, but on order. No info on when they might get in. They suggested checking back with the website periodically.
I have one but they are getting harder and harder to find here in England. Next time I see one I shall buy two at least. For some reason these are the only irons I manage o knock to the floor.
Amazon has a few. I ordered one. Didn't even realize they still made dry irons.

I have TWO my sister bought for me -- both are vintage, with red bakelite handles! Wonderful heavy irons. Whenever I'm in an antique store or a swap meet I keep my eyes open for another one. Good to know where I can buy a modern version!

I received one similar to this 45 years ago as a wedding present. It still works wonderfully when all I need is a dry iron!

I just checked and was going to order one, but they apparently do not carry it anymore. They had one just like it but it is a steam iron. Oh well, I'll keep looking.... TLF

I have this iron from the Vermont County Store. I bought it several years ago for all the reasons you stated. The Vermont company also has lots of wonderfu and unusual items that are hard to find. Miriam in HOT Texas
This is the exact iron I bought from them and a spray bottle from Target - works better than any iron (I have tried them all) I have ever had. Go for it - Can't beat the Vermont Country Store. Judy C

I've had this iron for two or three years and love it...never realized how much distortion occurred using a steam iron, until I started using this one! Nancy

I have two.. Just bought a Sunbeam Iron Master from a local consignment store.. It had the year 1953 on the tag, don't know if that is true or not but certainly looks old.. The other is a red handled GE and was given to my brother and his wife for a wedding present 47 years ago.. It even has "made in usa" on the bottom back.. I use mine a lot since I make wall quilts, etc. using fusible applique.. I can't tell you how many times I've knocked it off the ironing board and onto a hard ceramic floor and it keeps on working.. Something made in China would have quit working a long time ago..
I've purchased this iron in the past, It died about 1.5-2 years later.
The Vermont Country Store is one of my favorite places to order from. i have three sets of their sheets, and a maple syrup sampler so far. they still have the stuff i loved as a kid and can't find anywhere else. Great people!
Bonnie, I know what you mean! I found a perfectly shiny 30+ year old Sunbeam in the trash at my local St. Vincent's Thrift store. Has the woven iron cord with the spring wrapped around it. I love it and wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have one that I inherited that is vintage and has the plastic water bottle that you attach to the side of the iron. I don't use the water bottle however but the iron is the greatest.

No luck at the Vermont Store so I "googled" it - they are at The Home Depot!
I just ordered one from Amazon. Yesterday they sold out but today they said they had 10 in stock so I grabbed one. It should be here Thursday.
Sew! This will be the start of another addiction? If by chance I can lay my hands on one of these, I'll ship it to you! One for the go, one for use at home, one as standby in case one of the others dies, and one to (dis-)play would be nice 8^} Be sure I'll get them from a thrift shop. No kidding, I really love dry irons, but thermostats are their weak points. Cotton is no problem, but when you notice those silk shirts shrunken and sticky sitting at the sole, regret is a meager word =^{.
In an hour I'll be heading out to our garden, as weeds are running wild and I love to see what veggies lurk from underneath...

Ocean State Job Lot had them this summer for $10...$7.00 with online coupon. So I bought 2! They're great for my quilting projects!
I have one set up next to my chair, it is the old original and it still gets and stays hot, love it.
I just ordered one from Amazon. Free shipping if you are a Prime Member. I order quite a bit from Amazon and the Prime mbship has paid for itself in free shipping and then some. I never use steam and look forward to using this iron! That will give me 4 irons in the house and my husband will wonder why.
