iPhone-o-Gram! Basket!

I used the easy angle for this one which means I could use 2" strips and 3.5" strips which I already had on hand.

I love this block in this size and could make a dozen more!

I'm having to do some "burn" testing with a lighter to be sure the fabrics are 100% cotton. Some weren't! Son wanted to know what I was smoking down here----funny!!

Back to the machine!

What's the burn test? I mean, I can guess to a certain extent, but can you explain a bit more so that I don't accidentally burn my house down? I once melted the siding on my house when a "small" bonfire got a bit too big, so I'm kinda sensitive to fire :-)

Great block! Careful if anything smells like hemp...

Just finished mine... I'm a new quilter and wasn't sure how to piece the basket pieces together. But it came out well. I really like this quilt-alogn!

I recently tested all of my bobbin threads with matches and then separated them into different containers based on their fiber content. It was kind of fun!

I feel like polyster or polyster blend fabric smells noticeably different than cotton when you iron it. Is that my imagination or does anyone else notice that? My nose and doing a burn test have always matched, so now I just use my nose. Polyster or a blend smells chemically and cotton smells...well, just good.

Bonnie, where did your love of the color chedder come from?

Bonnie, I have a question about cotton poly blends. One of the shirts my sister in law gave me was 80/30 cotton/poly shirt. ( I wasn't at her house to choose, I was working on picture displays for the funeral.)
Is it terrible to use a little poly in my "Brother's Choice" quilt? Should I leave this shirt out of the quilt in order to keep it all cotton?
And there is also a 100% silk shirt in the pile, it's been washed and dried multiple times, so I don't think the silk one would do anything weird, would it?

I had a quilter teach me the "iron" test to check fabric content too. I've never heard of the burn test!

I would like to know the answer too. By doing it how do you know if cotton or not?
