This pic came in my email with no link as to where it was found, simply with the heading "Gigantic Ukrainian Easter Egg" Turns out it is not Ukrainian at all, but resides in Canada! More
HERE.Isn't this amazing? Oh..right away I'm having quilt palpitations! Just look at this thing! (Click to get it BIG)
Living here in NC...the closest we get to this is driving down I-85 toward Spartanburg SC where the giant water tower looks like a peach! That said..if you pass it at the right angle, it really does more closely resemble a huge hiney. :c| But then that gives me the giggles too!

Bonnie - Here's the link to the location of and story about the giant Ukranian Easter egg. Enjoy!
Wow ! that's one huge egg! just imagine if it was chocolate ! yumm!!!
This 'Egg' is just down the street from me, about an hour!!! It's a fun thing to see - My father in law lived close to it when he was alive, literally just down the street!!
Happy Easter!!
That is a huge egg!
Nice peach. ;D
We used to have a large pineapple water tower. Next to the Dole Cannery. I haven't noticed it for a long time. It's either gone or all the other buildings around it are taller, blocking it from view. lol.
Happy Easter eve to you too Bonnie.
You are the bestest!
XOXOXOXO Subee
I grew up with the giant peach. We knew when we got to it we were 10 min. from grandmothers house, after a 4 hr ride. I love that peach.
I can't believe I don't know you, but I follow your blog and suddenly we are connected... I grew up in Gaffney. So, I know this "peach" very well... I know there is an "egg" water tower somewhere in SC as well (I think). Anyhow, I'm now living in Utah and so this was nice to make me a little homesick... AND, 5 minutes from that peach is the Pottery Barn Outlet!!! Oh, how I wish I were there right now. Thanks for the pictures!! HAPPY EASTER!!
The egg is fabulous! Can't wait to share the story with the grand kiddos. I think it would make a great mystery quilt. hint hint ;-)
The peach, that makes me giggle! What a great landmark.
you probably won't post this anyway....but the egg IS a Ukranian egg... it just happens to be in Alberta Canada, and it's quite amazing!!
I was about to say the same thing. There are lots of Ukranians in Manitoba, Sask. and Alberta. Yup they are Ukranian Canadians.
Hi Bonnie! If it makes you feel any better, Vegreville is a Ukrainian community with a very rich and beautiful culture and heritage!
Bonnie
Happy Easter! Have a nice day!
Bonnie,
At first I thought it was floating but when I enlarged it, saw it's on a pedestal. I know what you mean about the palpitations-it's got those stars on it.
All Maybrook has is 2 water towers that look like water towers.
We are also home to the World's Largest Axe--Nackawic, NB--and the World's Longest Covered Bridge--Hartland, NB! There is a quilt pattern available for the World's Longest Covered Bridge.
okay, my son read this over my shoulder and suggests we go on a road trip to see the Giant Moon or Georgia! Love the 12 year old's sense of humor!
