Did You Ever?!
Did you ever open up a UFO bin and find a pile of blocks you ony vaguely remember making? I mean...I remember doing a couple test blocks, but I had no idea or memory that I had made THIRTY of them and they just need to be set together? I know they are mine. They are all my fabrics. It was a 2.5" strip project. Why did this get stalled and put aside?
Who knows. Maybe there ARE gnomes who come sewing in the middle of the night!
I think this was supposed to be a charity quilt that got waylaid during school. All I need to do is sash/border it....man...some of these fabrics are UGLY! (time has not improved their ugliness either!)There was probably something I did not like about them (other than the fabrics?!)
I went to the UFO bin to pull out some other string projects that had been started/stopped/started/stopped. I wanted to see if there was anything that could jump start me into finishing them for the heartstrings quilt project...and these blocks were buried under a partially pieced string kaleidoscope.

I have the book that taht pattern came out of - one of those where you really don't need the book. It looks nice without sashing....
These blocks didn't come out of a book...I was wandering through block base and found it there. It is called crayon box.

I don't think scrappy quilts can be truly ugly. Planned matchy quilts can be though. *grin*. I am working on a really wild planned one - pop your eyeballs kind of wild. It might be ugly, but it will be unique! *grin*
I love your blog and your website. Even spent a whole night going back to your earliest post.
Yes I remember, it was after your trip to me:-)).. indeed, like naomi said you was inspired by the tiles !!
I was a string piecing maven last night! I went to my small quilting group and thought string piecing would be fun and relaxing because I could talk and sew and just not worry. Well they all ended up pressing, trimming and helping me so I got a TON done! Love your crayon blocks! That is a cute idea for a block.
Finding blocks you hardly remember making? That is funny!
I can't believe you forgot about making them or when??? It wasn't that long ago. I recognized them right off - you were trying to make a quilt to look like the tiles in the streets from your visit to Lucy last year. You were dissapointed in how they didn't look a lot like the tiles...
Can't wait to see what you do to set them together. I am sure you will think of the perfect way to purdy them up ;) ~Bonnie
Isn't it strange that you made the blocks and even blogged about them, so that WE remember, and yet nothing hung around in your memory? Still if they caused you grief at the time you've forgotten that too!
I think they'll look great with the "perfect" saching... and I'm sure you'll find it!
I remember you making these ages ago. It'll be nice to see them finished :-) The string kaleidoscope sounds fun too.
I believe in the gnomes!
reminds me of your trip to Netherlands. you wanted to make a quilt based on her sidewalk(I think)
